Okay so this thread is for posting and discussing any ideas for future animal crossing titles. That applies to new ways to interact with neighbors, any possible new tools, new types of clothing, new ways to design clothing, new kinds of furniture, new ways to interact with furniture, and new location in town. I think one thing they put in a future animal crossing is a community swimming pool where you and your neighbors can swim and do tricks off a diving board. Also when you want to swim in the pool your character has to wear a bathing suit. For example if your character is a boy they would wear swim trunks but no shirt.

If they make an animal crossing for Wii U and the towns are big enough I'd like to see Bicycles. I'd also like to see more jobs in the next AC game, kind of similar to working at the roost in New Leaf

I definitely agree that more part time jobs would be nice. I can just imagine a little bakery or something where you can work and get given goods at the end of your shift that you could then give to villagers as gifts! Really, with that idea of gifts in general I'd also like to be able to just give a villager a gift in person without it being their birthday - I was disappointed when having something wrapped in my bag still didn't allow me to gift it directly outside of birthday parties.

Besides that, I think that if they keep the premise of you being mayor, you should actually have more input into where villagers can place their houses - for example, maybe plotting dedicated lots that villagers can then move onto. That could then allow for people to create more secluded or busier towns to their liking by limiting the number of plots in the town even within a set minimum and maximum number rather than the number of villagers usually just hovering around the maximum mark as it does after a couple of weeks playing now.

I'd also like a bigger town to work with on home console based versions, but with that I would like the ability to make maintenance easier, maybe along the lines of being able to ask villagers you are friends with to pull weeds or water the flowers in a certain area every day or something so that it remains realistically manageable for more lax players.

I'd also like it if they gave you more control over the conversations you have with your neighbors. Like for example: When you tell your neighbor you want to talk with them they would then ask you what you want to talk about and then you could select from a number of options. Also during the conversation you could reply to what your neighbor says instead of them just saying something that makes up the entire conversation.

The only thing I think the series desperately needs is more dynamic interactions with the villagers. The villagers need to feel less like robots with preset phrases they spew out upon contact and more like actual people. I understand something like that would be pretty darn hard to do, but after hearing Rodeo tell me that he's going to eat [random food here] at home to celebrate his lifelong dream of looking cool about a dozen times, it's something that needs to be done I feel. It would be great if the villagers interacted with each-other more too, like having rivalries, relationships, conversations, and the like, and having it permanently affect them. Like maybe Boone said something mean about Ribbot and Ribbot starts holding a grudge, or maybe Anhka and Pashmina become BFF's after discovering they have similar taste in fashion. I know they do get mad/sad/happy sometimes, but it only ever lasts for like 30 seconds and then they completely forget about it.

Imagine how cool it would be if you could have little missions based on these happenings. Like with the above scenario, Boone says something incredibly rude and Ribbot gets extremely frustrated. Boone feels bad later on, but Ribbot won't forgive him, and so Boone could ask for you to help him apologize. It's little stuff like this that I think would add a lot of life to the game. If they did something like that for the Wii U (a system that could totally handle such a task) I'd go buy a Wii U immediately and play the game forever.

They could also have that sort of thing happen between you and another villager.

(Just a disclaimer, I'm a total Animal Crossing newb--I've only played New Leaf--so I'm not sure if these things act differently in previous AC games.)

I think they should remove the tarantula and the scorpion from the Animal Crossing series, or at least make them more avoidable in the games. I remember once when a tarantula attacked me because I was cycling through my tools and I just so happened to pass through my net at one point. It was my first time ever seeing a tarantula, and I didn't even notice it was there at first because it was night time and really dark. It was a little terrifying, to be honest, to see all that happen. I don't have an irrational fear of bugs, but I really do dislike the things, and to have this one just up and attack me like that was kinda nerve-wracking. I pretty much gave up trying to complete my bug encyclopedia because of that thing. (And since the scorpion acts the same way, I have the same feelings for it, as well.) I know bees also attack you, but I don't mind them because it's really easy to avoid them if you want. (I only have one non-fruit tree in my village in case I need beehives for something.) But since the tarantula & scorpion randomly spawn on the ground, you can't really avoid them. If they were at least avoidable, I think I would be okay with them.

I know I know, it's just a video game and they're not real bugs. But I just really dislike bugs, okay? Real or not. :/

For the same reason I think they should get rid of jellyfish--sometimes a jellyfish will just spawn right beside me, and I don't have enough time to swim away and not get stung. At least give me a running (swimming?) start! I also just don't understand why they decided to make diving have a "risk", when you can capture sharks of all things with a simple fishing rod without fear of getting hurt.

I understand where you're coming from with that. The first few times I tried to catch a scorpion I got stung but eventually I caught it. I never had that happen with a tarantula though. But you know if you catch them and donate both of them to the museum then when you go to look at them they will be fighting each other.

That does make me think that maybe they should include the option of a repellent of some kind - something you can purchase from the store once it's upgraded to a certain level that stops tarantulas and scorpions from coming near you, maybe mosquitoes too. But I suppose it's only logical that it would then have a downside like scaring off any bugs you try to catch once you get so close to them.

Hey they could also make it so that you could end up with a fly in your home like in real life and could buy a flyswatter for when that happens or even a carnivorous plant (like a venus fly trap) that could take care of them for you.

The horned hercules and the golden stag beetle do the same thing, so I get my bug-fighting fix from those two. XD

Yes, something like that would be perfect! I can also see some villagers giving it to you after a certain event happens, like how certain villagers give you medicine after a bee sting. No real reason to do that, I just think it would be nice haha.

I also remembered something I wanted to say before--MORE STORAGE. My storage is almost filled to the brim with non-repurchasable stuff, and I still don't have enough space for my things. (Sidebar, I didn't realize how many items were non-repurchasable in New Leaf.) And since most of the space in my house is filled with items, I've resorted to leaving some of them around my village. Not cool. :(

Future AC games should allow you to choose where your villagers place their houses. If I'm going to be the mayor and decide absolutely everything, even, down to what the people in my village say I'm a dictator, then there should be absolutely no reason why we don't get to choose where they put their house when they move in. Having to resort to an exploit in order to get their houses in a decent place when I'm the mayor who has to do everything else in the village just doesn't make any sense to me.

The campsite is a great feature in NL as a sort of "audition" for getting new villagers in your town. You pop in whenever they're set up, and if you like them you can play a game to get them to move in. I would love this to be expanded on so you're not just having to deal with a villager you don't like when they move in or rely on exploits. As mayor, you could decide whether they get to live in the town or not.

Also, this kind of wrecks the whole "peaceful" nature of AC, but I would love a feature to kick out villagers you don't like instead of having to wait on them to leave.

Also, PWPs need to be a lot less restricting in the next AC. I can't tell you how many times I got frustrated because X item couldn't fit here for whatever reason. Let me rotate them too. Also, dump the PWP request system. I'd rather not have to rely on exploits to get villagers to cough up a PWP suggestion. Let them write it on the bulletin board or something.

If Isabelle or some sort of secretary returns, pleeeease give her/him more freedom! It broke my heart that Isabelle only says new things on certain days and is locked in the town hall for the majority of the game. She's one of my favorite characters. Give her a house or something that we could pop in and chit chat with her about whatever random thing she has in her head.

Get rid of grass erosion. Get rid of grass erosion. Get rid of grass erosion. It's not as bad as City Folk, but it's still bad.

Put in a feature to put multiple tiles on the ground at once. It's so tedious to put tiles down one at a time.

Give Brewster the gyroid storage feature back. I can't store all the gyroids in the 2nd floor of the Museum, so I just winded up selling them all after awhile because they just sat around and I needed more room for clothes.

Just like there's a separate storage for the mail, there should be separate storage for your tools. All the tools take up too much room in your inventory. Which leads me to..

Expand the inventory. I feel like I've had more trouble with too much stuff in this AC more than others.

Also, let the bell limit be 1 million or something. It's really stupid that they introduce an island that can get you millions of bells per night and then keep the limit at 99,999 bells.

More holidays. The calendar for NL is so barren.

Skin color feature. This is a customizable game and I can't even look black 4 games later. How Pokemon beat AC to this I have no idea.

And that's all I can think of for right now. And just to say this, I don't hate AC, it's actually one of my favorite series' and I have more than 200 hours logged in New Leaf. There's just so, so much they could still improve.

I can think of a way they can make more room for storing items. Have each piece of storage furniture act as a separate storage unit instead of them all being connected as a single storage space. Really I think they should do that because my storage furniture is almost full and I've had to decide what to keep and what to sell.

I think it would be interesting if you could get sick like your neighbors. But not out of nowhere of course only under certain circumstances. Like being outside without a winter coat for too long during winter, being around a sick neighbor for too long, etc.. Really it be kinda like a consequence for certain things (like how Mr. Resseti bitching at you is the consequence for resetting (He scared the shit out of me when I was younger)). Also while you are sick your neighbors may or may not stop by to give you medicine and to see how you are doing. Personally I actually would like to see that in a future Animal Crossing game. Hmm I wonder if there's a way to convince Nintendo to put that into a future AC game. What do you guys think?

Lately I've really been bothered that fruit doesn't automatically stack where possible, too. It makes harvesting take that little bit longer and it just seems odd that they introduce stacking without making it automatic.

I think being sick sometimes might be interesting as long as it didn't interfere with things too much, like if you maybe just sneezed and shivered every so often.

I don't think there's a direct way to convince anybody to add stuff to their games, though. I sincerely doubt they ever directly take input by email etc since to my knowledge the people making the games essentially never actually see the correspondences about it from the public. The only way I can see things being added is big reviewers repeatedly mentioning it or a very, very large number of people persistently suggesting it through channels like social media, and even then I wouldn't count on it. Still, it's fun to talk about it.

Maybe someday it will happen. Also being sick would like you described (shivering and sneezing and with that purple cloud thing above your head) you would look just like one of your neighbors when they're sick. Also there would be one restriction when you're sick: You cannot leave your house. And whenever you try to your character would say something like "I"m too sick. I think it would better if I stay inside." or something like that. Also like your neighbors you would be sick for a few days AND have to actually play the game at least once in order for it to count as a "sick day". And while your sick you (obviously) can't play with other players by visiting their town through wireless communication and if another player tries to visit your town to play with you through wireless communication a message that says "(insert character/player name here) is sick and is unable to play with other players. You will now be sent back to (insert town name here)". I know it may sound restricting but considering the fact that it's a short-term sickness and that you can still socialize with your neighbors if/when they visit and are actually able to do something in the game it doesn't sound as bad as it seems. Also about socializing with your neighbors: I just came up with a new way to communicate with your neighbors. It came to me when I was typing this. They should put in a phone system. You know make it so that you can call your neighbors from a phone in your house and they can call you. And with that they could make it so that while your sick you can call your neighbors and ask them if they'll come over and keep you company for a little while and vice verse. Of course that can be done even if you or your neighbor aren't sick.

I don't know about that. Considering many people like to do the little bits of needed town maintenance daily or could miss events that way, I would rather it weren't that restrictive. Maybe just that you can't run so much when sick, only get better quicker than, say, a week when you take medicine (which should then be available with even the basic town store) and can pass the illness on to friends you interact with over wifi. I don't think you should have to play for it to count as a sick day for either villagers or yourself, either.

Much of the appeal of Animal Crossing is that, for the most part, it offers a lot of accommodating freedom and escapism from serious events or restrictions that many players with stressful lives cherish, so things that take away from that might bring it down too much. The fastest way to make something a burden rather than a joy is to add obligations and restrictions like that.

I do like the idea of a phone system, though. I think it would be really cute.

Well whatever even if you can go outside then I'd say that if you talk to your neighbors (or anyone for that matter) they would acknowledge the fact that your sick and show concern they might even suggest that you go home for a bit. Also you wouldn't be able to do any part time jobs because the owner of the place doesn't want his costumers to get sick. Also you might sometimes (but not often) have to stay inside because your character feels to weak to go anywhere.
