Hello everyone, I'm new around here. Please tell me if I'm doing something incorrectly! I'll try my best to remedy it.

So, I've been getting back into the old Pokemon Anime lately, and I'm up to the Battle Frontier! It's great. I miss Misty, though. Oh well...

That's me, and now to the topic of this thread:

I had an idea of writing an Original Fan-fic based off of the Original series games, and the Anime. Everyone knows that Professor Oak gives trainers from Pallet Town a choice of Squirtle, Charmander, or Bulbasaur as their beginning Pokemon. We know that Gary got Squirtle, and Ash got Pikachu, but what happened to Charmander and Bulbasaur? My idea is to base my story on a pair of trainers, named Erik and Claire, who show up to Oak's lab after Gary has left, and before Ash wakes up! Erik and Claire have been friends since childhood, and are already very competitive with each other. Think Ash and Gary, but them traveling together, and being inseparable. Erik rushes in, and grabs Bulbasaur, leaving Claire with Charmander. Professor Oak gives them a Pokedex, and they head out on their Journey. No doubt a love story would build, as does from all best friends. I think I would make Erik more concerned with doing the Pokedex filling, and Claire more about battling and gym badges. (I loved the dynamic between Ash and May with Battles and Contests, but since this is back in the original Kanto region, It wouldn't feel right to have contests.)

What do you all think? Has it been done before? Suggestions are welcome.

I think it's a great idea to write about the other Pallet town trainers, but I think you should take care to avoid giving them personalities like Ash and Gary, or making their rivalry anything like Ash and Gary's.

I think you would have more people interested if you made them as different from Ash and Gary as possible.

I agree with you, evil raichu- try to make them more original.
