If Dawn faced Maylene again, I would love to see it! Depending on what Dawn decided to do with her future and everything.

When Dawn first faced Maylene, she did a pretty decent job. Yeah, I know she was using a Pokemon she got in a trade with a lot of battle experience , that got her the 1 win, but she still did great. Buneary and Piplup had a lot of endurance and I am very proud of Dawn.

With that said, Dawn was still fresh in starting out. If you look at where she's at now, she's freaking awesome!!! More awesome than ever.

With that said as well, if Dawn faced Maylene again, how do you think it would go. Especially if we ever saw it. Now personally, If Dawn were to win, we'd probably hear complaints from the fanbase on how Ash got cheated with a tie.

Excuse my language, but who gives a shit.

Mamoswine, Togekiss, and Piplup would do some serious damage against Maylene, not too say Maylene hasn't gotten stronger herself.

I actually would hope she has gotten stronger, as a matter of fact, it is inevitable that she did, all Gym Leaders should be handled at least the way Maylene did.

All the female Gym Leaders this saga played such a huge role in the plot, of the main characters, protagonists, championships, rival backstory.

I'm very pleased with the female empowerment this saga. Even though I'm a guy, females always appeal more to me.

Anyone who can't see how awesome female characters are, must think V Faction is actually funny!!! *jokes*

With that said, how do you think Dawn would do against Maylene now. I always love close matches, so I'd love Dawn to win by a hair.
 
Well, she would win if the plot suited it at that time. In theory, presumably Maylene Is getting stronger too, and since she's had more Gym battle experience than Dawn. I'd give the win to Maylene again, likewise if it was a contest battle then Dawn would win.

But everything Is driven in the direction of the currant plot, so if they ever did have a rematch, it could be anyone's win.
 
Dawn's Pokemon: Piplup, Buneary, Togekiss

Maylene's Pokemon: Medicham, Machoke (or Machamp), Lucario

Here's how I think the battle would go: Dawn would start off strong with Togekiss, easily defeating Meditite. Togekiss would eventually fall to Machoke. Then, Piplup battles Machoke/Machamp. After a long battle, both would faint, leaving Dawn and Maylene with Buneary and Lucario, respectively. After Lucario does some serious damage to Buneary (with the Rabbit Pokemon damaging the Aura Pokemon a fair bit), Dawn starts to show signs of giving up, to which Ash gives her words of encouragement to keep going. Motivated by these words, Dawn quickly devises a strategy to counter Lucario's attacks and uses that strategy to defeat Lucario.

Sounds confusing, doesn't it?

Not only do I agree, but you perfectly stated something that is very true, that I hope the writers change.

I know this has nothing to do with Misty, but this is where some of her fans frustration comes from, is that she was placed to be a Gym Leader, but Gym Leaders aren't masters, therefore, Misty would never achieve her goal.

I never liked how Gym Leaders were meant to be defeated. That's why I was happy when Maylene and Ash tied.

Also, for those who had seen the Jasmine episode, I know Jasmine was at a disadvantage, but damn. After all these years, you'd think she'd be more epic.

I wonder how's Claire doing, and Whitney, and Erika.

Gym Leaders should have a new rule, if you can't beat them after 2 tries, but come close you get the badge.

Gym Battles have become predictable cause you know Ash will win, as well as other challengers.
 
Well, both have been training and both are a lot stronger by now. And there are a lot of factors that would be put into their battle to determine who would win; Pokemon, type, strategy, strength, etc.

But I'm going to have to hand the win to Dawn, in a very close battle. She has Togekiss, a fully-evolved flying Pokemon. Piplup, her strong starter Pokemon. And whatever else she decides to use. Trust me, she could make it work.

Lucario hits is Super Effective from both of his types...

And people seem to think that a gym leader would stay at the same level...I disagree. I would say Maylene would beat Dawn.

Horrible fighting weakness :p Edit ninja'd on that.
Togekiss would do wonders though as it hits all of Maylene's Pokés for super effective damage and those crazy dodges would help as well.

I have to disagree. Mamoswine contains brute force and thus, is the main powerhouse of Dawn's team.

Although Lucario has a type advantage over Mamoswine, Mamoswine is a ground-type. Ground > Steel.

Brute force Isn't always the way forward, Lucario Is capable of being a lot quicker and tactile.

It's not about favoritism, either of them could win it depending on the plot direction. I've said that so many times, I know.
 
Who really knows. If the plot wants Dawn to win she'll win, same with Maylene.
 
I think Maylene would probably win again, but it would be closer.

Lucario is pretty strong and Dawn would be in a run for her money to defeat it.

I'm not showing favoritism, I like Maylene above the rest of the gym leaders. I honestly think Dawn would have a better chance of winning.

I know. I was just giving one reason for Mamoswine to beat Lucario. Obviously Lucario still beats Mamoswine, but Togekiss can be used to KO it.
