There was someone I saw who was complaining how the Dragon type was a stupid idea, almost like having a "cat" type. I wondered that if the Dragon type was removed, what would all the current Dragons change to?
This is really simple, really. Just choose several of your favorite Dragon-types and change the "Dragon" in their typing to something else (That would make sense). Or, in other words, decide what type(s) it would be if Dragon type was never invented. (If you're changing a PURE Dragon type, you can make it double-typed.) If you want to explain why you did what you did, you are more than welcome to.
Just to get one thing straight, though: Refrain from simply removing "Dragon" from the typing. (Example: You can't change Kingdra from Water Dragon to just Water.)
My type changes:
Noibat/Noivern: From Flying/Dragon --to--> Flying/Dark
Dratini/Dragonair: From Dragon --to--> Water
Dragonite: From Dragon/Flying --to--> Water/Flying
Axew/Fraxure/Haxorus : From Dragon --to--> Ground
