Hi guys, im a newbie but i had a thought. If there is to be rereleased version of G/S will Ash return there in the Anime. If so how?
My thought was that maybe there would be another battle frontier like the one in platinumn and do what they did with the one that was in hoenn/kanto. Ash Dawn and Brock could go there, Ash does the frontier, Dawn does the contests and both her and May compete in the Johto Grand Festival. This would be a way to bring back may for a few eps and they wouldnt have to get rid of Dawn. Since there is no sight of a 5th Generation game coming anytime soon and Ash almost finishing Sinnoh, the Anime isnt just going to stop so this would be a perfect way of keeping it all going and tying it in with the G/S remakes.

What do you all think?

It's certainly possible and perhaps very likely Ash will have an adventure in Johto in some form.

However it seems first the writers plan for Ash to challenge the Sinnoh Elite 4, which has had heavy foreshadowing throughout this saga.

Re: Ash Return to Johto in Anime

Ashy will return to Johto after challenging the E4 in Sinnoh, and will encounter Ho-oh, who is his reincarnated father killed in the Tin Tower fire. His father will then tell Ash to quit training Pokemon and start collecting Magic: the gathering cards. *is shot*

lOL I kid, I kid.

Ash will def travel Johto again if the remakes come out like everyone thinks they will.

Re: Ash Return to Johto in Anime

I don't know about them meeting up with May, last time we saw her she had three ribons and, whitch was the same amount of gym badeges Ash had so by now May is probably competing in the grand festavel by now hopefully they won't have as many fillers as they did the first time they were in johto.

Re: Ash Return to Johto in Anime

If there is a return to Johto do we expect him to reclaim his entire Johto team for the wandering around or will he get some new captures whilst hes there? Also do you think any evolutions would occur with the starters? I'd like Totodile to reach Feraligator and Cyndaquil to reach Quilava since neither have expressed anything against evolution and it'd give Ash a nicely balanced team overall.

Re: Ash Return to Johto in Anime

Huh. I always thought if Ash were going to return to Johto (Hopefully not because of a GSC remake, but that's beside the point), he would challenge the Frontier Brains there, similar to how it was done in Kanto. I mean, he already completed the Johto challenge a years back, so what else will there to do for him in the region? Sit there and let Dawn/May/Some other co-ordinator do their challenges, while he gets screen-time via fillers?

Perhaps Jimmy or Sakura would return at some point, probably to appeal to fan of the series with an episode. Then again, this is all speculation, so...

Re: Ash Return to Johto in Anime

The writers are out of ideas? Another Battle Frontier but Generation Four Version, come on.

Isn't Sakura on Kanto? I think they might bump into May.

Re: Ash Return to Johto in Anime

To answer the question with the current state of things its unown if there is going to be Battle Frontier and while many fans speculate how in case of happening there exist big chance of being set in Johto,so far there wasnt any oficiall confirmation.

However if happens remake of G/S there exists big probabillity of new Battle Frontier(assuming there is going to be any) taking place in Johto.
Personally if this happens i would like that certain female redhead character who also happens to be water trainer comesback in that case for perhaps a season or two.Afterall considering how its clearly obvious why and how gym isnt enough for this what this said character wants to achieve(assuming everyone knows why so there is no need for further explaining),returning it to further her goal by competing in water competitions along with battling against different and stronger traines than it encounters at the gym seems like a valid and reasonable reason for return. The fact that Whirl Cup is being held in this region just helps the case even more.
Nevertheless this move would bring some variety and unpredictability providing something new allowing for further said character development and progress expanding unexplored areas about it.

With this said and done sure there will always be people who are against it,but the vast majority of fanbase is either for return or is completely indiferent toward this.Point is that this is how things work,it isnt possible to please everyone.
However unfortunately this most likely wont happen.

As for May in case of Johto Battle Frontier its quite possible for Ash and group meeting her somewhere on their way while travelling through Johto and it would be nice if fans could receive some cover of May performance in Johto grand festival informing people of her current progress and what happens later on.

Also it woul be nice in that case to meet some older people/rivals from Johto like Casey or perhaps even Jimmy and Marina but this is rather a long shot of having chance to happen.

Re: Ash Return to Johto in Anime

If that red head your talking about is Misty i wouldnt hold out much hope. Im sure i read an interview with the writers of the anime who said that Misty would never return as a regular only popping in for an ep here or there. That and Dawn is way to popular (i dont know why).
Regarding Ashes team id expect it to stay pretty much the same except he would get rid of Glisor and maybe buizel and bring back tododile and probably catch a new one. Dawn would also get a few gen 2 pokemon.Brock may bring back fortress.
Do you think they would add more fronteir brains because there were only five in platinum (one of which is Jun/Barrys dad - possible meet up with barry).
So which new gen two pokemon could they catch?

Re: Ash Return to Johto in Anime

I'd like to see a return to Johto if for no other reason than there would be no new evil team to introduce and they would kind of sort of be forced to do something worthwhile with Team Rocket.

Re: Ash Return to Johto in Anime

The way I see it, if this happens, they'll do what they did with the Kanto Battle Frontier. Put the BF in Johto, keep the Sinnoh Battle Island for probably Stark Mountain and the resort nd showcase a new Gen V pokemon at the BF in Johto like how they did with the Kanto BF and Bonsly and Munchlax.

Yes i was talking about Misty and interview about which your talking about was with mr.Hidaka(former pokemon director and now storyboard artist). However despite that you could say im one of those people who never lose hope and afterall writers are only humans and they can change their mind just like it already happened once with Brock during Orange Islands(before anyone tryes to argue about this,i know this isnt even comparable but still).
As for Mistys current popularity, despite being absent for so long i must say it is still quite impressive.

Re: Ash Return to Johto in Anime

I find it funny that you guys act like a return to Johto is going to feel any different to Sinnoh.

When we returned to Kanto, it felt like we were still in Hoenn bar a few old locales like Mt. Moon and Pewter Gym.

If we return to Johto it'll feel like Sinnoh. I'm even betting Ash won't use any old Johto Pokemon, and he'll keep his Sinnoh team, just like he kept his Hoenn team in BF.

Hey my thread title was changed. i like this one better.

I pretty much agree with the above two posts. But id like to see them change their teams up a bit. Can anyone remember how much we knew about the fourth generation when BF came out? Because there is no more than three maybe four months worth of sinnoh stuff left and there hasnt been anything official about G/S remake or gen 5.

What was that Elite four business the first few posts were about? The role of the E4 has never really been adressed in the Anime has it - especially when you take into account the largish role they play in the games.

If they did return to Johto do you think there'd be any mention of the GS ball or are they hoping we forgot about that?

I think it's ridiculous to think he won't have a major team update since Diamond and Pearl the Sinnoh Saga will more than likely end up being more than AG was Battle Frontier and all.

Look I understand that Pikachu, Grotle, "Monferno" (In case anyone asks I put it in quotations, because I'm not sure what it will be by the filler league, it could be Infernape), and Staraptor have no chance of being dumped because 4th gen will still be the most recent generation at that time. But you can't expect Buizel and Gliscor to stay just because you believe nothing will change.

Look if the writers won't evolve Buizel in the filler saga at all, then why bring it to the filler saga? I mean Ash is already screwed with much team changes by the filler saga. Buizel, Grotle, and probably Monferno would be the only Pokemon that could evolve. I would rather see a Johto Pokemon come back for just character development then have to sit through a long filler saga waiting for one of Ash's Pokemon to evolve just to make his team feel different. And since most likely will get an Aipom capture, very late in the filler saga when the writers of Pokemon know what 5th gen related Pokemon to give to Ash, his team isn't going to feel at all different.

Which means we will have to deal with his team as is for probably a year and a half before something happens (evolution and capture wise).

Why would anyone want that? And if you don't want that then don't suggest it like you do.

Chances are, if there is a remake they will go back to Jouto. But as Scott said, it's likely to not particularly stand out as Jouto. So no:
-old friends/rivals
-TR plot
-places we've seen before

...probably.

So do I particularly care if we go back? No.

It's quite possible Buizel will stay on so it can evolve to Floatzel in the next arc. I agree with you that Gliscor will likely be Oak'd, but that's because I think Ash will make a new capture.

As said, Ash hasn't captured anything since Gligar. By the time DP ends, Ash wouldn't have made a capture in over 100 episodes.

The problem with the Johto starters is they're conflicting types. With Grotle and Monferno around, that leaves out Bayleef and Cynda. If Buizel and Staraptor stay, it leaves out Totodile and Noctowl.

Heracross and Donphan will likely get at least a battle, and I fully expect the return of Bulbasaur/Squirtle/Charizard, and I'd be shocked if Ash doesn't use his Hoenn Pokemon again either. I don't think any of these Pokemon will be part of Ash's team obviously, but I think they'll be used in the Elite 4 and possible Brain matches.

It's funny, despite Johto going on for so long, Ash's Johto team was only there for 2 1/2 years. Most of the fanbase has forgotten them entirely, especially given this is now 6-7 years ago. These Pokemon were totally ignored over the last three arcs of the series. What would showing them again serve? Just give Dawn a Johto starter and advertise them that way.

Scott, I think your right about Ash pokemon in BF, he won't just use his Sinnoh ones, but rotate through his pokemon and more reason to do so if the BF is like it is in Platinum, the battle hall is one way of showing this. Charizard would do well against grass types, Monferno for steel (Fire or fighting moves), starraptor for bugs, pikachu for water types, Gliscor would be good for ground types if it learned Ice Fang or earthquake. Bulbasaur for water types, Swellow for fighting types as it is a strong flying type that Ash has and so on.

If two of Ash's pokemon were to get Oak'd it'd probably be Gliscor and Grotle, Gliscor because he has gotten enough screentime and grotle so chimchar could get more screentime to evolve into infernape, staraptor can't be lost because there needs to be a flying type to find missing pokemon and work in buizel to maybe evolve NO ONE WILL RETURN there is no way that'll happen all the gen. II pokemon will probably be caught by Dawn most likley cyndaquil just like May with her bulbasaur and Squirtle or a Gen. V pokemon. Brock will most likley leave Sudowoodo in Pewter City croagunk will probably be on Brock's team for the rest of the series it'd make sence if Happiney were to do the same thing that happened with crobat they'll have an episode to focus on Brock and it'll be revealed the rock Happiney was carrieing was a oval stone and evolve then because Brock is such a grood trainer it'll evolve in a crouple episodes. As I said earlier Dawn will probably catch a cynaquil or chicarita and maybe a Gen. V pokemon bunery might also evolve or it could have the same role as skitty, I thought for sure it'd evolve pachirsu might not be kept, and mamoswine probably will be oak'd or something. IT'd also be cool to see all of the old cities again hopefully the contests will be in cities from the game unlike the original battle frontier arc were all of the towns were made up except for Saffron City.
