If Pokemon act like their trainers why is Oshawott/Mijumaru such a skirt chaser?

Seriously Ash especially after the Misty thing was ended has about as much romanticism as a frickin' toaster oven. I'm legitimately bemused.

I would imagine that that tendency would only be found in certain Pokémon and perhaps only to a certain extent. Quite a few Pokémon (e.g. Ash's Treecko and its evolutions, his Snivy, or Dawn's Swinub) don't really resemble their trainers at all. And while that tendency for Pokémon to act like their trainers is interesting, I'm very glad it's not widespread. I wouldn't like to see all of Ash's or Iris' parties act like their trainers.

It's Oshawott reacting to Ash's inner feelings - Ash just has some great self restraint that he passes off as being uninterested. Obviously.

Because Satoshi has sexual needs which he was forced to repress by the writers after the show moved past the Orange Islands.

Satoshi's hormones... where did they go? The back of his mind...

Because Satoshi would be a skirt chaser, if only long term exposure to a source of strong electromagnetic fields hadn't left his jelly donuts withered and useless.

I actually like the fact that many of them don't act like thier trainers. Some have huge personality differences.

I wonder if Giselle/Seiyo Yuto May have messed him up. Because she seemed to the the only girl that he openly showed romantic interest of.

Ash's Totodile was a skirt chaser too. There's just something in the water starters' genes, I guess.

Come on, you honestly believe it's going be so strict? I can believe that a Pokemon will act more like its trainer but I certainly don't expect this to happen everytime nor do I expect it to act exactly like its trainer.

Male Water-types are perverts. I guess it's a trait they get from looking at women and their underwear in the water. That's all there really is to it.

Because Pokémon aren't emotional clones of their trainers. They may pick up some traits from their trainers, but they still have their own personalities. At no point did Ash travel around with six emotional copies of himself.

Who said Pokémon act like their trainers? Most of Satoshi's Pokémon act differently from him, not even Pikachu is that similar to his owner. Actually very few Pokémon have similar personalities to their trainers in the show. I think the one that acts the most like his trainer is Dent's Yanappu.

Either Dent's Yanappu or Surge's Raichu.

I think this whole idea is derived from something Professor Oak said in "Showdown at the Poke-Corral" about pokemon and their trainers developing similar characteristics if they spend a lot of time together. But correct, I do think it's ridiculous to assume that absolutely everything a pokemon does therefore has to have some kind of precedent in their trainer's behaviour or personality. The pokemon's own genetics and personal experience are still going to factor in somewhere.

It's more that they take after their trainers. Of course, never completely.
Plus that line was from season one. Personalities/natures weren't important until Gen 3, when they became a gameplay element

Yes but wott doesn't seem to be changed at all with his time with Ash

Like others have mentioned, Pokemon may develop similar traits from their trainers, but certainly not become exactly like them. They have their own personalities before and after they're captured, so that would still be a factor. Plus, Oshawott isn't even the first Water type Ash had that would develop crushes, so this isn't entirely new either.
