A spin-off series is one of the most popular forms of cashing in on the popularity of a character/theme already established in a hit show and therefore gaining mucho-insta-luv for the new show and isn't that rare in anime.

What if Pokemon were to have it's own spin-off series? What would you like to see from it? A certain character's journey/adventure, a new character/s adventure in a more mature (and existing)plot?

Since it's not actually that likely to happen (Outside of the occasional special ep for the Housou's/Chronicles), it's a pretty safe open discussion base - there's really no grounds to say something could definitely happen or not so the possibilities are more or less endless.

I personally would quite like to see an XD/Colosseum spin-off of sorts. There is a good plot idea in the Shadow Pokemon thing and of course with Shadow Lugia there's great potential for a bit of glory-sparking by showing it off time to time.

The idea of having a deeper plot on Pokemon is something i'd very much like to see - although yet another Lugia in the anime would be a bit.... hmm... Unavoidable if you were to use XD as a base I guess but still.

Contribute all your own ideas. ^^

BEHIND THE SCENES TEAM ROCKET.
COMPLETE W/ THE REAL STORIES OF OUR FAVORITE TEAMS.
AND MONDO. AND THAT.
ROMANCE!!!

yeah that's what I'd want!

A series of 5-minute programs centred around a Wooper performing slapstick would be hilarious.

I want a spin-off based on Magical Pokemon Journey or Pokemon Special. Because they > the current anime.

^This is very true.

From what I've heard, the producers are afraid a second anime would over shadow the current one. This is a bad thing? The current anime is old. Let's really start fresh.

I'd love for May to get a spin-off. That way, we'd have an entire series of contests, with Max and maybe someone else tagging along - for some random reason, I'm thinking Sandra from the Rubello contest - while Ash goes back to travelling with Brock and Misty (because it just ain't right without the original trio, yo). Not very ambitious, but there you go.

If Jessie, James and Meowth ever get tired of chasing the twerps, though, I'd pay to see them get their own show. Not sure what the hook would be, as I can't imagine them leaving without 'turning good' first.

I think the main problem is that Ash and Pikachu really are the only big marketing tools that Pokemon has on it's belt. If you got rid of them, they'd be screwed. It really is like Yu-Gi-Oh with no Yugi. *Waits for someone who actually watches it to point out that he hasn't been in it since episode 2 or something*

They'll flog the anime horse until the franchise is dead or the production is simply cancelled.

A spin off series would be really nice though. I'd prefer it if they halved the main series and brought about a spin-off alongside it. Keep both going (like Buffy and Angel lived alongside eachother for 4 years) but keep each fresh. (Easier to keep the main series fresh if there's less basic filler).

I'd actually love a Pichu Brothers spin-off when I think about it. In contrast to my earlier musings about a deeper plot, another thing i'd really like is a full blown expansion of the 'classic cartoony' aspect from the original shorts.

The Pichu Brothers make an excellent candidate for that, re-appearing twice completely outside of the main show. Plus, because of the 'Party Panic' short, there's an established group they could even use as main characters.

I'd also imagine Ms Blaustein would keep the role of Meowth completely out of continuity and alive - they'd have to have a drop of english in there somewhere. (/Japanese etc of course) Even Tom and Jerry had at least one drop of spoken English (pretty much) every cartoon.

me and my cousin were thinking about having jessiebelle on her own tv series which it takes place 1 year after her breakeup with james, she decides to start her own adventure and to compete against team rocket. and so on.

So Yu-Gi-Oh GX then. Although he was in it for a cameo.

Told you. Lol.

My point still stands though. There wouldn't be a Pokemon Marketing strategy without Ash and Pikachu - at all. (Nintendo carries a lot of the blame personally for that) There'd be nothing to sell toys or keep the kiddies on board if they can't have Ash or Pikachu (Pikachu maybe moreso).

Sadly kinda craps all over hopes for a spin-off. Something we really would have gotten by now if there was any chance of it.

Anything that isn't centered directly on "Catch the Pokemon! Beat the Gym Leaders!"

A thing between Tracey/Todd would be cool. Maybe even throw Brock into it. They don't really care to -catch- them so much as observe/care for them.

I'd love a spin off based off of Adventures/Special. It's got some of the deepness that the regular anime lacks, and yet it still holds the magic of pokemon.

Personally I'd love a spin off about Gary after he decides that research really is a stupid idea, but that's just me :D

I'd love to see a spinoff featuring the characters from the Raikou special (Kenta, Marina, and Junichi) and their travels.

That'd be fun in dubbing, Tim, Tina and Tom and their magical non-Raikou adventures with the Suicune loving John!

Personally, I have always dreamed of a Team Rocket spin-off. You know, seeing what they do when they're not following Satoshi.

Oh, and for those who've seen movie eight... How different/similar did the person in the Ranger preview look to Satoshi? I have noticed that the main game series is still called "Pocket Monsters," whereas a lot of the spin-off games just use "Pokémon." The TV series has thusfar kept the "Pocket Monsters" moniker, but Pokémon Ranger is a different case. Thus, we may have a new series/spin-off.

A second series outshadowing the first? It might be true, we're living in a world where newer is always better... But the loyal fans will still follow.

Of course, I'd be loving a Team Rocket spin-off. But... call me hypocritical, but it's kinda fun that they're not the "main" characters. That way, I think the fandom has a lot more creativity coming out of it. I dunno... I may be starting to take back that comment as I think more. Just put them in for more than 5 seconds, please!

I think it would be interesting to see (if they have kids later) the offspring of Ash, Misty, TR, whoever, and their journeys. How their parents have raised them, taught them, however.

What about a spin-off of the 5 Eevee sisters, focusing on Sakura? I'd like to see their training, practice, all while Sakura tries to be a trainer.
