If the Shadow Triad had pokemon, what would they have?

The Shadow Triad never battled, thus we don't know what pokemon they have, or whether they'd even have any.

Of course they'd have pokemon for their own protection (or for Ghetsis' protection). But what would they have?

My guess is that they'd have better pokemon than those lousy Plasma grunts. Maybe Mienfoos or Mienshaos. Or Sneasles, if they had been outside Unova.

What's your guess?

Excuse me if this is off-topic, but I feel like it needs to be noted.

In the most recent chapter of the manga Pokemon Adventures, they are seen battling.

There, they have Lilligant, Basculin, and Larvesta (Gee, I wonder what that sounds like...).

Personally, I would've gone with Crustle, Accelgor, and Escavalier.

Yes, in the MANGA, they had pokemon. But not in the GAMES.

panpour, pansage and pansear.

Edit: or their evos, maybe.

Am I, like, the only person in the fandom who sees the fridge logic this theory has? I mean, seriously?

Anyway. I'd like to see them with a dark/fighting/psychic pokemon trio. Like the Elgyem, Mienfoo and Pawniard that rotation/triple battler has in Opelucid. At the very least they should have better pokemon than the grunts.

I wasn't even thinking about that theory while writing that. Now that you reminded me of it, it seems even better.:-D

No, my god, no! It's even worse!

They're ninjas and just sort of appear and disappear and...yeah. Sneaking. One could have Whimsicott (because it can sneak though any crack*), Liepard (Because everyone in Team Plasma has one because they're fast, sneaky, underhanded Dark types), and Zoroark (for blending in with people, or impersonation.)

Or maybe they have a team of Patrat? It's how they keep their eye on you.

I'm thinking Accelgor, Zoroark, and Purrloin would be their prime choices, and then they could all carry a Mienshao for backup.

Larvesta, Liligant, Basculin.

Just like their manga counterparts/Gym Leader secret identities.

I believe the fanon theory still applies to the game versions, too.

They're obviously the Striaton Brothers, which is why they weren't with the other gym leaders in N's castle. :p

I would have gone with either the monkeys or maybe the starters. Or maybe fire, electric, and ice Pokemon to represent the Tao Trio.

I think a fighting/psychic/dark arrangement would work for them, or a ghost/psychic/dark team. Or maybe the starters from another region. And if you battled them, I would prefer it to be one at a time but that's just because I don't like rotation and triple battles.

Monkey trio, and Herdier/Stoutland for backup.

And yes, I support the Striaton Brothers theory.

Dialga, Palkia and Giratina.

The Triad might not be as loyal to Ghetsis as they claim, and having these three under their control would explain their strange abilities.

Then why would they give you their respective orbs post-game?

It seems like a bit of a stretch to give the Shadow Triad three legendary Pokemon from Sinnoh.

They've already caught the trio without Ghetsis' knowledge and have no further use for the orbs. Just a wild guess, mind.

The orbs aren't used for summoning the trio, though. They're hold items that boost the attack power of each Pokemon's type. In Giratina's case, it also allows Giratina to change formes. Although, I guess orbs aren't absolutely necessary for the trio. I'm just a little confused by why they had to have the Shadow Triad, of all people, give you the orbs just for the sole purpose of being able to obtain them in Gen V.

They do have Pokémon, though. Pansage, Pansear, Panpour, and a Lillipup apiece. Why yes, I do support the theory that they are the Striaton Gym Leaders.

In the games, it's at least implied that they each own a Galvantula, as they're the ones who made the Galvantula web over the entrance to Chargestone Cave.

Not necessarily. They could've taken advantage of the Pokemon and forced it somehow to spin the web, or forced another trainer to use a Galvantula, or get a Team Plasma member to do it.

Other than the Gym Leader theory, I think they would have an Absol each and then a perfect triangle - Rock/Fighting/Flying. Gigalith/Conkeldurr/Emolga.
