If there is a possible GS remake, would it let the anime wrap up some loose ends?

Two loose ends that have always been Johto related was Ash meeting Ho-oh in some form and the GS ball. Likely the writers gave up on the GS ball ages ago, but do you think its possible they could finally bring closure to it if GS remakes happen and the writers have to advertise that region again? These are the same writers that brought up the Thunderstone from Nurse Joy in DP, after nearly 500 episodes, so who knows.

Likewise a lot of people are speculating about the possibility of Ho-oh being featured in Movie 13, since that movie would happen after Sinnoh is over yet prior to any 5th gen region. While a 5th gen legend may be in the movie too, (they usually do this like Latios/Latias in the 5th, and Manaphy in the 9th), it could give Ho-oh the movie it never got.

Those possible GS remakes may have a positive impact on the anime, give or take.

Ho-oh will probably be featured in some major way, but I think the GS ball is dead, period.

Why must you torment me with the hopeless possibility that the GS Ball plot will someday be resolved when it never will be? O hope, so brief, and when it departs, how deep the pain...

WHY?! WHY MUST YOU TAUNT MY PAIN SO?!?!

Just kidding, if you couldn't tell. ;-)

I don't know because it's hard to say what will be in the remake of GSC. The Sevii Islands were included in FireRed/ LeafGreen, so then the GSC Remake?

I suppose now that Pokemon DS Games have wonder cards, or items that can be obtained over WIFI, I suppose it's entirely possible they could revamp the Celebi/Ilex Forest thing Pokemon Crystal had in the Japanese version. Celebii could even be the main focus after beating the Elite Four, like Johto's Sevii Islands.

Although personally, I'd like to see what happened to Agatha, and Lorelei after they got kicked off the E4. Maybe that'll be revealed in the GSC remake.

I think that if Ash goes back to Johto he may end up teaming up with Ho-Oh at some point, but I really don't think the GS Ball is comming back. Most of the people that were watching Pokemon at the time of the GS Ball have moved on and been replaced with new fans.

When I read this thread title, the first thing I thought about what GS ball, also.

Maybe the writers are planning on wrapping up Team Rocket, and maybe if Ash&co. visit Johto THIS time around, we'll see something closer to the game plot where Team Rocket has disbanded, some members are trying to find Giovanni and restart the thing, but by the end of the arc Team Rocket is totally kaput.

Then maybe Jessie, James, and Meowth will be featured as rivals in pokemon contests.

You forget how much money they'd make on G/S remakes. Pokemon fans are a nostalgic bunch, and G/S remakes could easily sell 12-13 million copies.

I'm not sure if the G/S remakes would compel the writers to tie up anything from Johto. We may see a return to Johto, but I think that's as far as they'd go.

I wasn't doubting the GSC remake, I just don't know what they will include in it, like the Sevii Islands in FireRed/LeafGreen. I can't see in the future nor am I member of the people who create Pokemon Games.

I'd rather Ho-oh be in the final movie that Ash is in. Why would they give it the cryptic role it has now if they were just going to off it in a randomly-placed movie that isn't the last? When Movie 13 rolls along, and Ho-oh maintains its anime role, I would feel like there was no sense of finality.

I do want to see if the writers will go back to the GS Ball bit though.

Well maybe it can finally get a proper debut in Movie 13, but still remain a focus point for Ash at the end of the series too

I guess, just as long as Movie 13 doesn't scream "Ho-oh's time to shine!" because if that's the case, then a return in the anime would be kinda weird in my eyes.

They could go the Mew route and give Celebi another movie. The return of the Iron Mask Marauder, perhaps? :p

The GS Ball is dead. It was only used to get Ash to Johto because it had "GS" on it (Gold/Silver) but other than that, it was just an item that probably won't be returned too and no offence to anyone, hope they don't go back to it, because unless it contained a celebi, be no point really, nothing else they could really suprise us with. Ho-oh may not return yet, would be a cool to see it in final episode though.

Not sure if they will go back to Johto in anime, well not for long anyway, Johto along with Hoenn and Kanto has been done already, so unless in another chronicles series or or a few episodes here and there, we won't get a series back in those regions.

Jessie/James and Meowth maybe at the end will leave TR and go about their lives elsewhere (could get a good job or something that will mean they won't be rockets anymore) maybe Giovanni will get upset with how TR have been doing and gibe up the whole rocket orginisation, but we won't see an end to TR for a long time probably.

The GS Ball is dead and forgotten. Unless they randomly feel like throwing in Celebi again, then there's no reason to go back for it.

Ho-Oh will probably be saved for the last movie/last few episodes where it will reveal its relation to Ash (HO-OH IS ASH'S DAD!!11!!).

Ho-oh, yes. GS ball, 90% chance no.

Maybe Ash will remember and actually benefit from re- visiting Johto.

Uhh, it was not used because of the engraved "GS", it was used because it's original purpose was to contain Celebi in it. That was before they decided to feature Celebi in Pokemon 4Ever. The side-plot with it then became a dead one.

Anyway, Ho-Oh may or may not be used in as epic a role that some people believe.

Don't get me wrong, I hope they do too, and I'd love to see that, especially if they could pull that off after giving Arceus and co such massive roles. For all we know, however, Ho-Ho could simply be symbolic towards Ash's journey, thereby warranting it's return every time. It'd be a let down, but on the other hand, I won't go as far as to think they're planning something grand for it until they even show a hint of that, which they haven't.

If Ho-oh never gets at least one big role in either an episode or movie, it would be rather dumb.

Keeping a single legendary off-limits when you debut every single other legendary in either a movie or an episode is ridiculous.

Ho-oh can still keep its "legend" or whatever, but it deserves one real appearance.

Now this first paragraph's gonna be pretty jarring since the rest of my post is wishful thinking that has no basis in reality, but I'll just come out and say it: I'd be willing to say Ho-Oh in Movie 13's not gonna happen. I'm counting on a Gen 5 legendary being the focus instead.

Anyway, this isn't really a loose end, but how about Janine appearing finally? They could have introduced her at any point during Johto but didn't (and instead weirdly kinda referenced her with having Aya reappear of all things). They also could have established her as Gym leader in Kanto Battle Frontier (the twerps passed by Fuschia City and everything) but opted to ignore her instead. I doubt she'll ever pop up, but it'd be nice.

Oh, and Will and Karen. Hell, if they do the Championship League, maybe they could re-introduce the Gen 1 Elite Four as a single unit and then have them be broken up and replaced by the Gen 2 Elite Four. ...and since Koga would be there, may as well bring in Janine? XP

And this is also super-unlikely, but how about checking in with Casey and Sakura? And maybe more likely, bring back Jimmy, Marina, and Jackson/Vincent, perhaps giving them a second TV movie to themselves or perhaps having them appear in the main series. The first two are likely to have no outfits anyway, so hey! :p It's be interesting to see Marina make a full appearance as a Top Coordinator.

They've been putting several legends in the movies for years. If Ho-oh is in movie 13 they can also have a 5th gen legend in it as well.

If Ho-oh is not in Movie 13, when in the world can it be featured?

And this is also super-unlikely, but how about checking in with Casey and Sakura?

You mean two characters who have been completely forgotten about by the fanbase, and were only received with lukewarm appearances in the first place because all the other supporting characters in Johto sucked?

What made Sakura interesting? She was a painfully generic beginning girl character, with a mirror to Misty's family. Without her in the anime, Sakura has no point. Sakura is nothing special, especially compared to the characters who came after her got. I am actually shocked that people act like Johto's supporting cast can honestly compare with the recurring characters we got later.

As for Casey, I don't really see it, she already failed as Ash's rival and she's likely not even in Johto anymore. And as said, most of the current fanbase has no idea who she is.

It's be interesting to see Marina make a full appearance as a Top Coordinator.

So we can see 3 girly girl coordinators do the same thing? If anything, I'd rather see May becoming a rival to Dawn rather than Marina.

The thing is, though... why bring in Ho-Oh? If they have planned on bringing in Ho-Oh at some point in the future and have been neglecting to give it a movie because of this, why suddenly change their minds? Because of the remakes? Then wouldn't it have made sense to do it back when GSC was the current generation? It'd just be weird.

Also, yeah, I don't exactly expect either Casey or Sakura to pop up ever again. Like I said, that's just fanboy ideas that have no basis in reality.

It's not like I said she should join the main cast. :p
