Well, the fairy and dragon types are fairly new to the TCG. So, if you could add one more type, what would it be?

I would add the earth type, a combination of Ground and Rock, to fix the problem of fighting being strong against too many types (Colorless, Electric, Dark).

I'd have to say Ice, because it's always peculiar seeing water type pokemon cards weak against steel, when in the games water type pokemon are resistant to it.

Poison. I mean, it's weird that poison works as a status ailment but not its own type. Also, in gens I - III having it represented by grass was strange, but understandable (seeing how there are many common grass/poison and bug/poison pokemon). In gen IV onwards having it represented by psychic makes zero sense whatsoever.

If i could have picked two, i would have gone for a rock/ground option as separate from fighting.

Rock/Ground is desperately needed. Too many Pokemon have the Fighting element, and it's irritating. Also, Poison should probably get its own element considering how prevalent they've been ever since Gen I.

I would love to see Rock/Ground separated from Fighting, perhaps as a new "Earth" type or something like that. Rock/Ground have been lumped in with Fighting since day one, and it's bugged me to no end. Lightning 'mons being weak to all Fighting 'mons just because of Electric's weakness to Ground makes no sense. AT ALL.

Ground and/or rock could certainly be split from fighting as several users have mentioned. After that, ice should be next. Ice types being strong against fire? Seriously?

This is a really intriguing question. tbh I really hope as the tcg progresses they will begin to introduce more and more separated types. They did it with dragon! Personally I hope they do Ghost/Poison or Rock/Ground.
But this also raises another question: What color might the new energies be? I could see Ground energy being a tan-ish color, like sand. But I have no clue for the others.

There should be one energy for each type to be honest. I can tolerate Water energy covering Ice, because ice is just solid water. But using Psychic energy for Poison just because it's purple and Fighting energy for Rock and Ground just because it's brown doesn't make any sence.
But if I had to pick a single one, probably Rock.

I would personally split Ice from Water. I can agree with splitting Ground from Fighting (though I'd prefer to keep Ground and Rock together as one type). The combination of Poison, Psychic, and Ghost is unusual but I don't think that necessarily needs changing.

Why? With the weird type arrangement, Psychic types are all weak to each other. That doesn't make much sense to me.

By the same token, most Ghost types are all weak to each other (or to Dark) which doesn't seem odd at all. I also enjoy the notion of Dark having -20 resistance to poison attacks.

Ghost is the only type of the trio that ISN'T weak to psychic. Furthermore, it causes Poison and Psychic to be strong against each other, which makes no sense.

What, you've never seen a Muk go up against an Exeggutor? (lol)

I'l agree that Psychic and Fighting would be the best candidates for some sort of split. What they could do is make the new Pokemon type still use the old energy type.

Rock/Ground. They are strong against Electric, but weak to Water or Grass.

Flying. In terms of game mechanics, it shouldn't be resistant to rock. In terms of personal bias, it's just too different from normal type to be lumped in together.
