If you could battle Ash...

If you had a chance to battle Ash from the series in a full battle. Which of his Pokemon would you want to battle against? This can be any 6 of his Pokemon past and present from Kanto to Unova and everything else he's captured in between.

Not to over-complicate things but if you wanted to you could also mention which "Ash" you'd like to battle in terms of personality. Would you battle his Kanto persona or maybe you'd like to tangle with the Hoenn or Sinnoh Ash that we've seen?

Also, if you want to include the 6 Pokemon you'd use and strategies you'd put into play that would be great also! Let's have some real fun with this one!!!

For me I'd want to battle:
Pikachu
Charizard
Snorlax
Krookodile
Sceptile
Swellow

The reason I added Krookodile instead of something like Heracross or Infernape is because out of all his BW Pokemon, it is the only one (aside from Snivy or maybe Pignite) that I actually think is a great Pokemon that has a balanced move-set, good offensive/defensive tactics, isn't overpowered and has believable development throughout the series making it an excellent powerhouse for Ash's Unova crew.

I'd use from my White 2 Game (so far that has given me a great variety of Pokemon from all the generations):
Rotom (Water/Electric)
Serperior
Vaporeon
Metagross
Yanmega
Magnezone

Personally I'd like to battle the Ash we saw in Sinnoh because there we got to see some really innovative tactics like Counter Shield and combo attacks like Pikachu's Volt Tail or to go back to his Hoenn style moves like Swellow combining its Double Team, Quick Attack and Aerial Ace for speedy maneuvers.

I want his team to be strong so I can destroy him when he's at his best. I would choose Sinnoh Ash because like you said he created some good counters like counter shield and etc

Ash+10, i.e. the Ash we saw in the Sinnoh league & battle frontier, 10 years later, when he really became a true, strong battler, somebody to be reckoned with in any league, someone on a par with most Champions:

Garchomp

As for me I'd battle with:

Nidoking
Poliwrath
Typhlosion
Gengar
Torterra
Machamp

..yeah... that'd be fun. I know we've never seen this Ash, but still... that'd be something!

EDIT: as for tactics, that'd be simple: powerhouses all round: give it all you got, punch for punch, attack for attack, till the best trainer and pokémon win
 
Forgot to mention my strategies…

Well seeing how unpredictable and off the wall Ash can be at times my Pokemon would use various use of their abilities and attacks.

For example, Yanmega would use a combination of Detect and Speed Boost to increase its defensive strength and speedy attacks in one move to avoid hazardous attacks like Stone Edge, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, and Swellow’s flying type moves. Also, it will be a big help in keeping up with Sceptile and Swellow’s impressive speed.

Metagross and Magnezone are good tanks due to defense and powerful offensive moves.

Serperior+Coil would prove very efficient. While my Vaporeon has a good moveset to handle multiple types of opponents. Finally, Rotom proves very useful with Levitate and status disrupting moves along with powerful STAB attacks.
 
My strategy would be just straight forward offensive. Repelling, blocking his pokemon attacks and trying to find their weakness in battle.
 
I would battle the ones that don't absolutely suck and aren't evolution-deprived. Fortunately, Ash does have a *few* powerful Pokemon I've come to respect (as much as Red's at least) so I would choose Charizard, Sceptile, Infernape, Swellow, Gliscor, and Snorlax. :p

I agree with most of you are saying. I would love to battle the likes of Garchomp, Blastoise, etc. But so many of Ash's team lack that evolution factor that could boost their power even further...

Not to mention team members that only know moves of their specific type like Bulbasaur. However, even those that have evolved are not that good in terms of wins (Torterra...)
 
Pikachu, Infernape, Charizard, Sceptile, Snorlax, and Gligar. I know it's unbalanced, but it's Satoshi's fault for not having any water powerhouses and quite honestly, I forgot what most of his old Pokémon are XD And I'd love to battle his Sinnoh personality, it's by far the most interesting.

I personally found Ash's Kanto/OI Pokemon the strongest, and most complex. And even Pokemon like Bulbasaur, and Squirtle, they are still realistically two of Ashs top Pokemon.

And My roster is similar to Ash's, but I'd be using my favorite Pokemon against him, and that happens to include some of his.

This is actually my Platinum team and I actually didn't use a Quilava...Mostly because I couldn't get a Cyndaquil in the game, though my Monferno I named Blake(Named after an anthro Monferno character I use in an RP group on deviantArt) was a huge help to me in the game and against Ash I think he'd do very well, having the advantage over Sceptile, Snorlax, and Heracross. Besides...I love that fire monkey XD
