What pokemon do we want to eat?

I imagine--well, fantasize, really--that Tauros would have lean meat. And that various cuts of meat off of Mamoswine would be more succulent than bacon.

I think that Blaziken would largely be inedible, or undesirable to eat, to say instead. It has claws/talons for hands and seems wiry/muscly. We'd probably prefer to eat and cook with Combusken. But who knows, maybe the starter pokemon are simply too rare to eat. (Or eat legally. I do wonder if something like Venusaur would absorb flavor from its own herbage though...) I don't think we'd eat Chikorita, Bayleef, or Meganium, anyway: their green foliage could be used instead, as seasonings and aromatics. (And such aromatics, not just for culinary purposes.)

Farfetch'd is a duck, and probably tastes better than the ducks in our world. Being a wild duck, it probably has a good deal of flavor due to its diet--it's also well attuned with green onions.

I largely hold that Ferrothorn is based off the durian... the durian has quite a range of reception. And Tropius is a tropical fruit bonanza. We'd probably not eat Tropius, same as Chiki/Bayle/Megan. (Great day, what great names for daughters!)

And don't even get me started on how delicious I suppse Remoraid or any other fish pokemon would be...

Well, enough about my tastes... how about yours? How else would pokemon in the pokemon world determine the dish?

Note:
Much in this post is indeed exaggeration, and me being facetious. I don't imagine that any of the fish pokemon would indeed cook well--at best, Magikarp alone may taste something good. As well, I've not "fantasized" about eating pokemon--I was just eating, and bored with the forums really. That said, Mamoswine does seem prime to be sliced up into 500 pieces--and everything probably would be better with Mamoswine.

I'm pretty sure people don't want to eat Grimer and Muks. XD

Octillery. Bouffalant. Miltank. Mareep. Stantler. Magikarp. Carvanha.

There, that's my list. I might add more if I've forgotten anything.

Re: Stick a fork in it. (Pokemon Cuisine)

I largely hold that Ferrothorn is based off the durian... the durian has quite a range of reception.

The only time when you'd need an angle grinder in your kitchen. Ferrothorn looks about as edible as a piece of scrap metal.

Maybe it would be like a peacan, it's difficult to crack open the hard outer shell, but inside is the edible part.

Aside from the other posts, I think Unfezant would be a good food pokemon. I've had pheasant before and I'll tell you I woud have it again in a heartbeat. Just imagine the Hiker Trainer Class with shotguns going up into the woods to go Unfezant hunting.

Re: Stick a fork in it. (Pokemon Cuisine)

Pheasants are tasty? I heard about this is Roald Dahl's "Danny the Champion of the World", but never got to find out about it (not like pheasants are in Malaysia).

Anyway, is Sawsbuck considered a combination of venison and vegetation? It sounds like the case. Anyway, it would be interesting to know how those blob-like Pokemon taste, especially Wobbuffet.

Thanks for reading.

Haha, Sawsbuck. Meat salad.

I would eat Gyarados, Tepig and Oddish. Imagine people hunting for pokemon. With spears.

Re: Stick a fork in it. (Pokemon Cuisine)

Milotic. I imagine a 'Milotic fish salad' would be served at luxurious restaurants for quite a price. And vegetarians could eat Leafeon.

I'm a vegetarian, but Leafeon looks like an animal to me. A cat or dog, to be exact.

Re: Stick a fork in it. (Pokemon Cuisine)

People eats slowpoke tails. I'd eat Chansey. Farfetch'd is a good idea too. It's based on a duck that gave itself to eat to a lost travelers. Chinese folklore.

That was just a lame pun on my side, referring soya-based replacement for meat products. Nobody would want to eat a Leafeon. It could even be poisonous.

Leafeon is not a Poison-type, but she learns Toxic, so Leafeon is indeed poisonous. However, Tauros also learns Toxic, so Tauros would be poisonous too.

Haha, I like your thoughts concerning Sawsbuck, as they're somewhat mine regarding the flavors that various Grass pokemon might hold. (And Wobbuffet might hold a large lot of energy in its body, seeing as it has an extremely high potential to both absorb damage and to dish it out.)

In other news, I have added all the pokemon mentioned in this thread to the "FoodDex." If a pokemon's number isn't besides its name, then you'll see three repeating letters. Those letters refer to the generation the pokemon was introduced in--I've not bothered to look up all their numbers, yet. (Such is a task I don't need help with, really.)

I've declared Grimer and Muk inedible, and have put forward an entry on Milotic. As to what actually makes up an entry and is to be included in an entry... is still up in the air. However, I'll establish the guidelines soon enough. Among the various components, however, will be a) any real life counterparts to a pokemon that are consumed, b) well, other stuff.

Much in this post is indeed exaggeration, and me being facetious. I don't imagine that any of the fish pokemon would indeed cook well--at best, Magikarp alone may taste something good.

In the episode Pokémon Shipwreck it is shown that Magikarp can't be eaten. Here is some of the synopsis:
Everyone looks at Magikarp and daydream of eating the helpless Pokémon. Meowth makes the first move and bites it, but Meowth breaks its teeth since Magikarp is just scales and bones. The fact that Magikarp isn't even good for food angers James enough that he kicks the fish Pokémon off the platform, not wanting to be its master.

Re: Stick a fork in it. (Pokemon Cuisine)

@Water Max At best, that may have just been that sole Magikarp--in the games, there are those who competitively fish for bigger specimens of various fish.

Otherwise, we could distance ourselves from the anime's view of Magikarp (if such is how all Magikarp are). Magikarp, per the games, is a modestly heavy fish. If Magikarp is based off of koi and carp as well, then it should be edible.

Your various mentions have been added to the FoodDex.

Re: Stick a fork in it. (Pokemon Cuisine)

Two words: Torchic nuggets.

XD Not really. But I do imagine that Farfetch'd and Unfezant would be rather tasty. I also think that people might eat fruit from Pokemon such as Tropius and Cherubi without actually eating the Pokemon themselves. (Tropius's Dex entry, at least, directly states that people eat the fruits around its neck.) And Qwilfish might be prepared as sushi like real life pufferfish.

Re: Stick a fork in it. (Pokemon Cuisine)

Similar to the post above Snover was shown to be able to produce "Snoverberries" in the anime episode The Lonely Snover which can be eaten. Also Farfetch'd, Psyduck, Golduck and Ducklett could taste like ducks. I think Swanna could taste like a swan but I know eating swans is illegal in the UK.

Re: Stick a fork in it. (Pokemon Cuisine)

Shellder=Shellfish?

I'd imagine people would use Cherubi instead of cherries, Kingler (rather than Krabby) for crab meat, Psyduck as a cheaper Farfetch'd, and, of course, the various fish types would make excellent seafood.

Slightly Revolting part:

Luvdisc parts ground up, liquefied, and used as a romantic yet expensive wine?

Re: Stick a fork in it. (Pokemon Cuisine)

How about those mouthwatering delectable Slowpoke Tails? I could sure go for those tasty little tails. Also if you wait until they are a Slowbro, you get a nice seafood dish with it as well.
I also could go for some Shelders on the half shell. ;)

Edit: Also who wants to be the first person to be brave enough to take a bite out of a poison type... Well I noticed somebody mentioned Qwilfish as sushi.

Also some Politoed legs might be quite tasty.

Tentacool, Tentacruel, Frillish and Jellicent could taste like jellyfish, Croagunk and Toxicroak, Tympole, Palpitoad and Seismitoad's legs could be similar to frog's legs, Vanillite, Vanillish and Vanilluxe could taste like ice cream, Tynamo, Eelektrik, Eelektross could tast like eels, Paras, Parasect, Foongus and Amoonguss are similar to mushrooms, Magby, Magmar and Magmortar could taste like ducks, Togepi could be eaten like Exeggcute as eggs, Ludicolo looks like a pineapple and could be eaten, Slugma, Magcargo, Shellos and Gastrodon could taste like snails, and I think Basculin could be eaten.
