Pronouns
  1. She/Her
  2. They/Them
Sun and Moon
  • Ash's traveling companions would be Lillie, Hau, Selene and sometimes Gladion. Ash would have Rowlet, Selene would have Litten and Hau would have Popplio. They would all evolve their starters fully.
  • The Trial Captains would do their normal job in the games, and Ash would challenge them.
  • Lusamine would actually be evil.
  • Lillie would permanently wear her Z-Powered form outfit.
Horizons:
  • Either make Liko and Roy from Paldea and counterparts to Florian and Juliana, or make another pair of protagonists based on Florian and Juliana.
  • Make Nidothing/ Dot a side character who's a student attending the protagonist's school. She'd still be a streamer which the protagonists like to watch though.
  • Make the protagonists permanently attend Naranja Academy (since the anime is implied to be related to Scarlet)
  • Nemona, Arven and Penny would sometimes be the traveling companions (not always because Liko and Roy/ the protagonists usually travel with each other)
  • They would then go to Kitakami and transfer to Blueberry Academy. Kieran would be their rival.
  • Make Professor Sada appear and play the same role as in the games
  • Team Star would be the main villainous team
  • They would take on the Titan Pokemon
X and Y/ XYZ:
  • Make Bonnie less annoying and Clemont's inventions blow up less
  • Bonnie would get a Pokemon because it's confirmed that in the Pokemon world, children can get a Pokemon while under the age of ten, characters like Iris have done it before, they just have to be ten to get a Pokédex, get a starter and go on a journey.
  • Make Diantha appear more
  • Have May appear because of ORAS
  • Make Ash get a Mega

While XY(Z) are not my least favorite series, there are some things I would definitely change about it, mostly regarding Serena and her goal:

  • First, I would have Serena be a Sky Trainer as a direct repudiation of Rhyhorn Racing, though it would still be something Serena loves on its own without it being the direct opposite of Rhyhorn Racing. As such, Serena would have a lot of Flying-type Pokémon, choosing Fennikin due to it later evolving into Delphox, who could ride her broomstick in order to participate in Sky Battles.
  • In the same vein as Serena being a Sky Battler, there would be a Sky Battling competition where she would earn "kills/victories" by winning said competitions. She would need five victories to become an Ace, where she would be able to battle other Aces to become a Wing Commander.
  • In Sky Battling, there would be an Elite Four-like group called the Sky Corps Generals with a true Champion called the Sky Army General.
  • I would have Serena beat the Sky Battler competition and eventually beat the Sky Army General to become the new Sky Army General.
  • Serena's victory would spur Ash to train harder and more seriously, though not like Paul. He would not have an Ash-Greninja but would use Mega Evolution, bringing back Charizard to be his Mega Pokémon.
  • Using his Kalos Team combined with his old teams, he would win the Kalos League, beating Alain in a Mega Charizard X vs. Mega Charizard Y showdown with Ash's Mega Charizard Y barely beating Alain's Mega Charizard X. Ash's Charizard would revert to normal after a tough battle before Alain's would, but would still have enough in the tank to unleash one final attack, likely a super-effective Dragon Claw to take down Alain's Mega Charizard X before fainting, himself.
  • The Team Flare arc would proceed similarly but Serena would play a larger role in it.

Note - If the Showcase plot was a mandate from above, I would have Shauna be a companion in XY(Z) and have her do the Showcases. In this scenario, Clemont and Bonnie would still join Ash until they take back the Lumiose City Gym. Once they do so, though, they would depart from Ash and it would be a three person team in Ash, Serena, and Shauna. If it was not a mandate from above, there would be no Showcases and it would simply be Ash, Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie throughout the series.

Sometimes I feel like I’ve been gaslighted by sun/moon anime defenders to believe that the tone, art direction and plot they chose for the saga was the only way to go because “Ash was on vacation” and the island setting must make everything feel more lighthearted and relaxed. However, as shown in Pokemon Evolutions, they could’ve created an anime with a different tone and direction if they wanted to.

• I would have the saga be more serious, there have always been space for comedy in the pokemon anime so there’s no need to overdose on it.
• By this point Ash shouldn’t have to be the protagonist of the pokemon anime and the boy or girl protagonist from the games could perfectly fill that role.
• Lusamine would definitely be an antagonist, but with a path open for redemption.
• The Ultra Recon Squad would appear and have an important part on the story. Their world would be expanded upon.
• The trial captains from the games would keep their roles. The Elite Four members would also keep their positions.
• The aether family would reunite with Mohn during this saga, not in the following one.
• Have Lillie travel with the protagonist and possibly create one or two new original characters to travel with them.
• The characters who participate in the Alola League would have to defeat the island challenge. Gladion, Hau and Guzma would remain as competitors in the league.
• The protagonist of the story would go on to challenge the Elite Four and become champion of Alola after defeating them.
• Maybe make a special or a movie where Team Rainbow Rocket is featured.

Why? It's a rewrite, I'm tweaking it to my likes, and something that I didn't like was that they cut XY off from the rest of the canon
No, you don't understand. It has nothing to do with your rewrite/what you like, and everything to do with the fact that May's Japanese voice actress, KAORI, can most likely never voice her again due to a rare medical condition she contracted called Spasmodic Dysphonia, which greatly affects her ability to speak.

Therefore, May will most likely never have a speaking role in the anime ever again.

(And in case you're wondering, yes, she contracted the condition before the XY series even began.)

If You Could Rewrite Your Least Favorite Pokemon Anime Series

That’s the point of the topic.

Key words: If you could

It is all hypothetical, so it doesn’t matter if May’s VA could or could not return to voice her in the real world. We are just imagining how we would rewrite the series if we could, in a hypothetical scenario where everything is possible, regardless of real world circumstances.

Well, by that logic then I would rewrite (in some ways at least,) ALL the series of the Pokemon anime.

Sun & Moon-Decent series overall but I think it has some structural flaws that prevent me from fully enjoying it.
  • The School is more defined and has exams, more teachers and feels less like a kindergarten. Ilima, Mina and eventually Olivia join as teachers.
  • Ash's travel companions are Sophocles, Mallow and Lillie and each one get more defined teams.
  • Kiawe and Lana act as a rival group and eventually they are joined by Gladion.
  • Ultra guardians are taken seriously. And before someone says "OMG you hate fun and gags" tell me ONE good comedy thing they did.
  • The League is shorter and there's a Rainbow Rocket arc which is foreshadowed since the middle of the series.
Journeys
Ash
  • His personality is closer to his XY self.
  • Goodbye Journeys team, I will not miss you. They could be reworked into Goh or Chloe's mons though. Reserves are used instead, who also get new developments and training. Charizard replaces Lucario's "Megastone Arc" and Hawlucha or Oshawott take Sirfetch'd place in his arc. While they have experience and it shows, they never feel like they are too amazing for a battle.
  • To make things easier for the writers, Leon isn't explicitly the best trainer in the world, just one of the best. He still won the last PWC.
  • Battles are more common, through some of them take place partially off screen.
  • Masters 8 has the same result, with the following changes in Round 1. Round 2 and above is the same as canon. Paul's canon role is taken by Ritchie who has a full battle with Ash using Kanto and Johto mons.
Leon vs Raihan-Leon wins
Alder vs Diantha-Diantha wins
Cynthia vs Steven-Cynthia wins
Ash vs Paul-Ash wins

Goh
  • He doesn't start as a pro, actually the opposite. He's like Max or Sophocles in the sense he's got a lot of knowledge but almost none hands-on experience, so he sucks badly at catching. It's only through the help of Chloe and other characters that he can make his first 3 catches: Scorbunny, Grookey and Sobble, whose personalities and arcs are more or less the same, but as they are captured within the first episodes they have more time to breathe and to have relationships with each other.
  • Horace is key to Goh's development and his main rival. JN032 is now one of the first episodes, and gets a part two where Goh and Horace talk about their differences and ends with Goh getting Grookey and Horace getting Chikorita at the same time.
  • He gets more Galar Pokemon and his catches are more technical and thought out. They involve different kinds of balls.
  • Project Mew is introduced earlier though it ends on the same note, but with Goh going to explore Paldea.

Chloe
  • She gets Eevee by episode 30 and joins the main cast, appearing in every episode.
  • She completes the eeveelution quest by episode 80, and it's more based on Chloe trying different careers in different regions, like musicals, Pokewood, etc.
  • She gets 2 more Pokemon.
  • At the end she chooses to be a journalist and chooses to do a year-long world trip with Dawn.

Team Rocket
  • The gatcha stays but Jessie gets a Chewtle and James a Sinistea as permanent companions, but they behave more like pets. Also, all of their Pokemon from the HQ appear and are used in at least one battle.
  • Morpeko is not redeemed. He has a similar role at first but a few episodes after its debut TR teams up with Goh and they get it caught and sent to the HQ.
  • Cassidy and Butch replace Matori and appear as TR's rivals on a few missions. After the Dialga & Palkia plot they retire, so JN095's development stays the same but happens sometime later.
Miscellaneous
  • The lab is located in Galar. Super creative, I know. It still belongs to Cerise, but...
  • ...is financiated by Rose, who is a more prominent figure who is really good at hiding his true intentions. He becomes interested in Ash and Goh because he suspects they are the heroes of the Galarian legends so he wants to keep them in check.
  • However, the real heroes are Ash and Leon, who Rose previously dismissed because of his confidence issues when battling wild Pokemon (he's a person who does great at battling trainers). Therefore, the Darkest day is more about the relationship between Ash and Leon. Goh also gets some development by figuring out that it's okay to not be special.
  • After the arc, the lab is now financiated by Mostaz, who comes from Sinnoh.
  • The Dialga/Palkia arc and Arceus specials are merged into a bigger story that is foreshadowed more and has more content from Legends. It culminates in Goh being braver than ever and obtaining his first legendary, Heatran (Goodbye Suicune).
  • Sonia is Chloe's older sister, the trainer of Yamper and Goh's mentor. She replaces Ren and Chryssa and is almost a main character. Also, she had the same goal as Goh in the past but gave up to be a researcher. That makes Ash, Goh and Chloe conflicted about whether it's good or bad to "give up" on your dreams.
  • The duo still travel the world, but for reasons less lame than "I want to meet x Pokemon".
  • Marnie is Ash's main rival and the person he has to beat to enter the Masters 8.
  • Raihan appears more, his relationship with Leon is framed as similar to Ash and Goh, and makes it into the Masters 8.

For other series I mostly agree with the fans' most asked rewrites:
  • OS-More development for Misty, Tracey and Brock and less fillers.
  • Hoenn-Give Ash a rival
  • Sinnoh-less fillers and make a Battle Frontier Arc or Elite Four Arc.
  • Unova-Less childish Ash, Team Plasma appears earlier
  • Kalos-More continuity and better league.
To be a Pokemon Master is such a disaster that it will probably require its own post. I'll make it when I have more ideas.

Sun and Moon are my least favorite series and I actually think it could have been a really good opportunity, as it could have been a really good stepping stone between XY and Journeys (World Champion) for Ash in a more believable way. I think a really cool way to start the series would be that Ash feels stagnant after all that occurred in Kalos. This actually could make a lot of sense in universe, Ash had trained up his team in an amazing way and still couldn't break through against Alain, then went through some really serious stuff with the Flare arc, so let's say the start of the next series he goes back to Pallet Town and doesn't really know what to do next. He spends a lot of time thinking about how he can train to finally get past his limits, and during this time he helps out at the lab with Professor Oak AND Tracey, who has full dialogue and everything. Professor Oak says he has a really interesting idea, his cousin is from the Alola region and they have something there called the island challenge, which is very different from anything Ash has ever experienced before. Professor Oak thinks Ash getting out of his comfort zone and doing something very different from what he has in the past might be just what he needs to take the next step towards being a Pokemon Master.

I do want to preserve the Ash/Kukui relationship, as I think that was really good, so my thought is that Samson hooks Ash up with Kukui at first to learn a bit about Alola, the customs, etc. Since Kukui is younger he thinks he would be a better fit for Ash to learn about Alola and Kukui could always use some extra help with his research as well. Lillie would be staying with Kukui to mirror the game story. Eventually Ash would leave on the island challenge, with Lillie tagging along, but they would return to Melemele fairly frequently so that Ash would still develop a strong family relationship with Kukui and eventually Burnet as they did in the original.

I actually like what they did with Team Rocket for the most part, so I don't mind keeping that roughly the same, home base with Bewear, same Pokemon and relationships, similar humor even, just a little less over the top. Since Ash would be doing the island challenge the trial captains would be the same as in game, however I like the idea of Kiawe and Ash having a very similar relationship as they do in SM and becoming rivals and Kiawe taking time to join them on a lot of the adventures. I also think Mallow could kind of pull a Brock and after the trial with Ash decide to go with Ash and Lillie because she wants to travel the region and learn more about cooking. Because Trial Captian isn't as much a daily job like gym leader as it is portrayed that less people take on the island challenge I also like the idea of Lana being involved as a frequent temporary companion as well. They would all have generally the same personality, just again less over the top gags and more time spent on adventures. I suppose that could even include Soph, I just never was a huge fan so I'm not saying he has to be involved.

I would like for Lillie to have Nebby so that arc could play out more like the games. I like Ash having Poipole and that playing out more or less like it did, just be throughout the adventure since the backdrop of the series would be the adventure. Ash's team could definitely be the same, I personally didn't prefer Rowlet, but its really no different than Piplup, Oshawott, and Chespin - each series needs to have one apparently so I guess that's fine. Gladion would still be an Ash rival. As many others have requested a Rainbow Rocket arc would be quite cool as well.

I would still have the series end with Ash winning the Alola League, but it would be a little more gratifying in a series where he trained and battled more frequently. The Alola League, as brand new, would also be considered as "less" of an accomplishment outside of the region, but Ash would return home with new vigor and be ready for his next challenge. Kukui would actually be the one then who tells Ash about the PWCS, with Kukui really wanting Ash to prove to the world how strong trainers can become in Alola.

Journeys would then have a more seamless transition from Alola, similar to transitions between OS, AG, and DP. Ash would rotate his team throughout Journeys, although I'm not opposed to him also catching some new Pokemon. I really liked Ash's Dragonite (not that I'm a big Dragonite fan, I just really liked his Dragonite specifically), and would have absolutely loved if she could have stayed a Dragonair longer. Generally though it would be old Pokemon in rotation the entire series.

I think I'm okay with the general Cerise fellow idea, but I think in this case Ash would actually use it more as an opportunity to fund his travels (for training and PWCS battles) and it would be a mutally benefical relationship as Prof Cerise could benefit from Ash's great ability to bond with wild Pokemon. Ash would have some research experience as he would have helped out with Prof Kukui in Alola and could get a strong reference. I guess I could keep Goh in the series, but he would absolutely not be catching every Pokemon. A better goal for Goh would be to meet and study every Pokemon in their native environment. He would only catch Pokemon he bonded with, but would coincidentally then catch a team that helps with traversing tough areas. I'm fine with his personailty being generally the same. Goh generally being the one to record, while Ash does a lot of the Pokemon interactions, honestly a lot like it was anyway, but maybe a little more clear that they have these roles. Chloe would become a full time member of the group, and much earlier. Basically she still doesn't know what she wants to do with life, but she comes to the realization that traveling and trying new things is fun earlier in the series, so she decides to be a part of the travels and is a greater part of each episode. Over time she would continue taking greater interest in Pokemon and research and would aid a lot in the actual understanding of what the group is studying.

Traveling to old regions would also lead to meeting up with older characters more often, with guest appearances for each old companion at a rate similar to what Dawn had. In this perfect world that would include May even though I very well know why she wasn't in Journeys. Ash's old companions would wind up helping out in research tasks in various episodes (based on each individual's strengths they could fit into various arcs). Kukui would remain an important mentor for Ash as he struggles with moving up in the PWCS.

Time would have passed, generally not equal to the real world, but people would have aged. That would include Bonnie being a new trainer and being involved in a couple of the adventures, even being a good battle opponent for Chloe and becoming somewhat of a rival for her. That could lead right up to Bonnie being champion in Z-A

The Trio would absolutely not use the gacha in my book. They would catch and bond with Pokemon like they always did. Actually rotating with their old teams the entire series to mirror Ash would be quite nice. I actually like the idea of them competing for "knowledge" in certain arcs. Like Giovanni wants to understand a certain Pokemon (possibly a legendary) better and sends Trio out to learn about it and it happens to be the same Pokemon the protagonist group is studying, so instead of trying to steal Pikachu, they are competing to understand a Pokemon, and maybe work together in some aspects as well.

More time would be spent on the road, some of it actually traveling between places by foot instead of instantly being there, and then additional storylines that come with traveling as we had in the past. More time would be spent in Galar overall with the explanation being that Cerise has a special interest in Galar, but generally just means we get to actually see all the places in Galar.

As Ash gets higher in the PWC rankings he starts to get some disrespect for the Alola Champion title (as compared to other regions), which becomes a motivating factor. The final Alola return episode remains quite similar, as does the Paul training episode (I personally really loved that one, I'm not sure why others didn't). Finally I would have the M8 be a little different in that I personally prefer the climax being with Cynthia, that has more meaning because Ash knew Cynthia for far longer and had a stronger relationship with her, she also (imo) had a better combination of strength and strategy than Leon. Ash would beat Alain in round 1, Iris would beat Lance, Cynthia would beat Steven, and Leon would beat Diantha (not in as ridiculous a way, though). Then Cynthia/Iris is a full 6v6 awesome battle with Iris getting quite close, Ash vs Leon is roughly the same, and Ash vs Cynthia as the climax. Most (if not all) of Ash's friends would be at the stadium, of course Iris would stay for the final as well. Obviously the reason for not having everyone there was cost of animation and VAs, so I get why, but this is a theoretical perfect world.

As for the final 11 episodes, I don't think it would need to be anything wild as many have suggested. The above would have already included a lot more interaction with old Pokemon and companions, so I think the way it was handled would be roughly equivalent (general enjoyable fillers about moving forward and finding out the future path, some episodes that feel like the older times with a more basic adventure/plot). I would like them to have established the future path for each former protagonist so we can have a bit of time with each of the special characters from the 25 years of the series and have a good feeling about what they were doing moving forward. Also some sort of easter egg that confirms that Horizons is in the same universe (like someone in their travels walks past an eventual Horizons character).

I don't want to say much on Horizons yet since it is still going and I actually really like it so far. There are definitely some flaws, but for the most part I'm pretty happy with it. I think the protagonist switch was done at the proper time (and I'm personally a huge fan of Liko). I'm okay with not having any series crossover too, but like I said just knowing it is the same universe would be a nice feeling for me.

I particularly don't have a least favorite, but here are things that I'd like to include if I could:

OG

-Have Gary and Ash's rivalry be more fleshed out and explained in Kanto rather than being at Johto.
-Give Misty and Brock a rival
-Have Brock use Vulpix more often

AG:

-Give Ash a rival (maybe have it be Brendan since May is Norman's daughter in the anime verse)
-Have May use Torchic in a Contest before it evolved into Combusken
-Give May the Swablu she took care of.
-Take out one of the Kanto starters May gets.
-Have Brock bring his Crobat and not Forretress as Crobat is in the Hoenn Pokedex.

DP:

-Less fillers
-Have an official Sinnoh League Ash vs Barry battle
-Not have Ambipom shelved for ping-pong

BW

-Have N appear earlier
-Having Cheren be the main rival rather than Trip.

XY

-Make Serena be a Furfrou/Pokemon groomer/stylist instead of whatever the Pokemon Showcases were.
-Give Ash a Mega Lucario and have it be double aces with Greninja

SM

-Lana should get her game counterpart Pokemon (if Dewpider isn't cute as marketing, Chinchou would've easily been a better substitute)
-Have Lillie get a Clefairy or express fondness for the species.
-More anime original students in the school just so the school vibes would be present

JN

-Have Goh be an aspiring novelist who wanted to write a story about Mew, but later changes to writing stories that both people and Pokemon can enjoy thanks to Ash's influence.
-Decides to have Scorbunny as his partner as he gets inspiration from it.
-Have Eevee be a Pokemon that Chloe meets much earlier and is curious about.
-Actually have Team Rocket quit TR at the end and live the lives that they want that isn't Pikachu-focused.

Horizons

-Have Liko use Hattrem more
-Have Roy use Kilowattrel more
-Explain how Friede escaped the mine with Amethio.

Omg I love the idea of Sky Trainer!Serena that makes so much sense and would allow for some really interesting character stuff!

XY is my favourite anime series, but I do think it would be interesting (in this hypothetical scenario) to have Shauna/Tierno/Trevor be the travelling companions instead of Clemont and Bonnie. The rival situation in the games and anime feels a tad cluttered. Though that does make Ash feel more like a Calem replacement, then.

Black and White
  • Give the Iris/Georgia rivalry a conclusion, this at least justifies a smiley faced Georgia watching Iris battle Cynthia at the Masters 8.
  • Charizard actually battles Reshiram
The final Alola return episode remains quite similar, as does the Paul training episode (I personally really loved that one, I'm not sure why others didn't).
Maybe because it felt rushed and there was still a question that wasn't answered.

Here are my ideas for Aim to be a Pokemon Master. I divided it into two arcs.

FRIENDS VISIT ARC
  1. A New Adventure! The Crown Tundra!: After winning the world champion title Ash is unsure of what to do next. Misty and Brock know this and invite him to research sightings of Kabutops and Omastar in the Crown Tundra. There, they find the Galarian legendary birds and battle them, with Ash curbstomping G-Zapdos easily while Misty and Brock battle G-Articuno and G-Moltres. He hasn't find his resolve but decided to travel through Galar for a while with his original friends. G-Moltres goes to one of Galar caves to be better prepared for Rock-types ;)
  2. Cilan and the Forest Witch: Mostly the same as canon, with the beginning changed as Brock is already part of the group.
  3. Battle Tower! Leon and Max!: Ash visits Leon who has found his call as the boss of the Battle Tower and says he has found the most fun in ages due to the Tower's structure. Ash tries it out but is still as boring as ever. Then Max arrives, revealing he's now a trainer and has gathered some badges. Ash is very happy to met him and they finally fullfill the promise of their battle. Max manages to surprise Ash despite losing, and he starts to realize than what he was missing was always battling like it was the first time. Max says that an special Grand Festival will be held in Hoenn and that May will be participating, so Ash chooses to go there.
  4. A challenger approaches! Hisuian Decidueye!: Before landing on Hoenn, the trio arrives in Alola, where Ash greets his Alola family. A challenger with a Hisuian Decidueye appears and wants Ash's title but he quickly gets rid of him.
  5. Misty and Brock! You will always be my best friends!: Misty and Brock explore the warm region again, Misty falls in love with the influx of Water-types due to migration and the opportunity to surf giant waves, while Brock reconnects with Olivia. Misty and Brock choose to stay in Alola as Pokemon School's new teachers, and they say goodbye to Ash forever.
  6. The Best Grand Festival! The Final Combination! (part 1): Ash arrives in Hoenn where a festival of coordinators is taking place, and finds out May, Dawn and Serena are participating. He wishes them good luck and watches their combinations alongside Tracey and Professor Oak.
  7. The Best Grand Festival! The Final Combination! (part 2): The semifinals are May vs Serena and Dawn vs Wallace, and the finals are again May vs Dawn. May wins, and Ash feels pride on watching her companions fulfilling their dreams.
TEAM ROCKET ARC
8. The day Team Rocket won!: Some time later Ash is taking a time off in Seafoam Islands with no Pokemon other than Pikachu. Suddenly, he is ambushed by Team Rocket who are using old Pokemon of theirs, and after a long plan Pikachu is kidnapped while Ash is left adrift in the ocean. Now he's more determined than anyone to beat Team Rocket once and for all. Meanwhile, Jessie, James and Meowth wonder if that's what they really wanted after chasing the twerp all this time.
9/10: Base infiltration! Ash vs Giovanni!: Ash infiltrates Team Rocket HQ after going back for some of his old Pokemon, and after battling some grunts he comes face to face with Giovanni. Giovanni reveals he always thought Pikachu was important not because of his power, but because his empathic abilities allowed him to easily connect with Ash and all the people they met on their journeys. Giovanni reveals he has implanted his ability on Mewtwo to make it stronger and allowed it to be commanded by a trainer, so Ash battles Mega Mewtwo X with some of his Pokemon. Pikachu is being released by JJM, so have realized they do not want to do bad things anymore, and he delivers the final blow. Mewtwo regains consciousness, and with his telepathy he makes everyone aware of Team Rocket so the organization is disbanded while Looker and the International Police arrive. Ash catches Mewtwo and decides to keep exploring the world to find out the extent of Pikachu's power while JJM join the police.
11. Pokemon Master, I choose you!: Two years have passed, and Ash focusing too much on battling has taken a toll on him since everyone wants to challenge him and get a taste of his style. Ash has become Misty's boyfriend and has taken up some champion activities, and is fed up with all the Public Relations that come with it. One day Ash goes to visit Max who is choosing his first Pokemon, and Ash wishes he could go back to those days. A Celebi appears close and a longer version of the A Ripple in Time short happens: Ash's OS self appears in a Kanto tournament and has to go through a cave where Dialga is waiting, and Ash has to battle Dialga using his Kanto and Johto Pokemon. After winning, Ash realizes battles were not the point, but all the things he lived and all the people and Pokemon he helped. He realizes he can't be a Pokemon Master that way, only after he has helped everyone to live better. He sees Ho-Oh in the distance, but instead of going in that direction he goes into the opposite direction instead. The credits roll and many companions appear:

  • Brock and Olivia end up together and appear healing Pokemon in a cave.
  • An International Grand Festival is shown, Dawn beats Zoey in the semifinals while May beats Serena, so the final is May vs Dawn. May wins, and is congratulated by Harley (who is in a cheerleader outfit) and Drew.
  • Bonnie chooses Froakie as a starter, while Max is waiting for her to go on another Journey with Gallade and Grovyle.

My least favorite series is "XY."
If I could change anything, I would remove Serena, and thus "AmourShipping."

JN (partially)
  • More focus on Galar
  • All the Gym Leaders appear
  • All G-max forms appear
  • Koharu catches Yamper, which later evolves into Boltund
  • It turns out Koharu's Eevee can't evolve because it has the G-max factor
  • Iris catches Flapple
  • May makes a cameo in her outfit from the "OR/AS" games.
