Bidoof's a mouse? I thought it was a beaver.

Looks more like a mouse to me. Or at least a vole.

Then it decides that it wants to be a beaver and becomes Bibarel. Remember kids, never, under any circumstances, leave your Bibarel exposed. *shot*

Eh, Cyndaquil's an echidna, yet it's labeled as Fire Mouse.

8 days, 18 hours, 48 minutes...

All I can say is thank goodness they fixed the Diamond boxart.

Yes, because a character that anyone can name must officially be called something that an online game magazine named it.

Good going, love your logic

Perturb: disturb in mind or make uneasy or cause to be worried or alarmed; "She was rather perturbed by the news that her father was seriously ill"

I learnt a new word. :-)

So, Jun's name is Barry.
Wasn't Jun's name decided upon when you go to enter a new name and press start instead? Like what happens when you go to nickname a pokemon by accident and press start to get the default name back. ...That's what I understand at least. If that is the case, then doing the same in the English version should give us his "official" name.

Interesting default choices for him at the very least. Markus kinda fits with Lukas.

As I heard it, Jun's one of a choice default name (like R/B's rival had) and his default!defaults are 'related' to whichever game you aren't playing.

I know that no one officially said that Jun was his official name but it's accepted by fans to call him that. And since "Barry" is in the place where Jun originally was, fans will call him Barry.

It's his default name. So, use it. Jun was his default name in Japanese, in English it's Barry. I don't care about magazine, because it does not matter, the thing that matters is his default name, not a magazine. And since his default name is Barry, he's Barry, simple and logical.

You're forgetting one thing: Jun isn't a default name for him in Pearl.

If that cap was taken from Pearl, his "official" name won't be Barry.

That's right. Jun in Pearl was Hisashi. So, he can still be named Hisashi if you prefer. His name is very ambiguous, isn't it. But the accepted name comes from Diamond, so when we'll officially know what is his default name from Diamond, most of fans will call him that. And don't forget that the name Jun was used by Shigekatsu Ihara, the author of DP Manga, so it makes this name more official.

I know the accepted name comes from Diamond. I'm just saying you shouldn't automatically say, "It's Barry, end of story." because you don't know precisely which version the cap came from.
