.....because there's a horrible lack of it in this world. Seriously, people go nuts over never-met ships, and here we are given something that would actually work and its ignored. The world is funny that way. Come on think about it:

• Flint asks the player to cheer up Volkner rather than telling Volkner to actually do his work like a good little boy
• He's grateful to the player for giving his friend such an awsome time
• They team up and fight the player
• They have matching Pokémon

Oh and even the Naruto universe seems to support this. They based Volkner off of the 4th Hokage, but gave him a relationship with this red-headed stud. Now we find out that the Fourth Hokageès wife has red hair :O
