Here we go, no intro:

Magmortar @ Choice Scarf
evs: 4 Hp/ 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Ability: Flame Body
nature: Modest
Fire Blast
Thunderbolt
Psychic
Focus Blast
I used to have charizard until i noticed pathetically weak damage output. Fire blast is stab, thunderbolt for bulky waters (swampert the exception), psychic for gengar and infernape, and focus blast for, say, tyranitar

Dragonite @ Choice Scarf
Evs:228 Atk / 104 SpA / 176 Spe
Ability: inner focus
Nature: naive
Outrage
Superpower
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
My wall breaker to open a sweep for lucario, not much else, recieves boosts from jolteon as well, and takes out many counters to the two main sweepers. Ice Beam takes out gliscor and hippowdon, while thunderbolt covers bulky waters

Lucario (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SpA)
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- ExtremeSpeed
SD LUKE. Best lategame sweeper, in my opinion, with ttar and others opening the road to break through. Crunch over ice punch so ghosts don't wall me.

Jolteon (M) @ Life Orb
nature: Timid
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Charge Beam
Thunderbolt
Hidden Power Ice
Baton Pass
Charge beam has a chance to boost special attack, and if someone who threatens jolteon swtiches in, i baton pass out to a counter.

Gliscor (M) @ Leftovers
Nature: Impish
Ability: Sand Veil
Evs: 252 HP/ 40 Def/ 216 Spe
Moveset:
Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Aerial Ace
Roost
Bulky Gliscor, to stop lucario, breloom, and other fighters. Aerial ace for heracross and breloom. Sand veil takes advantage of sandstorm.4

Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers
Bold Nature
Water Absorb
EVS: 188 HP, 252 Def, 68 SAtk
Surf
Toxic
Wish
Protect
Standard Vaporeon, with a little more power than usual. One difference is toxic, works very well for a defensive pokemon. plus, it's my only answer to some pokemon (swampert one of them)

OTHER POKEMON (7,8)
Infernape @ Life Orb
Blaze
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SpAtk)
252 Atk | 6 Def | 252 Spd
Swords Dance
Stone Edge
Close Combat
Flare Blitz
alternate with lucario for, say, arachna gym

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP/108 Atk/100 Def/144 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Taunt
alternate with magmortar when infernape is being used

This is my team for the IGPL as well as wifi and shoddybattle (where i don't use ape and gyara), one danger is swampert, if at all. Read and (please) comment/advise/whatever

It might be a smarter idea to think of common threats as in the Pokemon that the leaders have, instead of standard OU things.

Just something I noticed... although I get the feeling one of the leaders does have a Swampert, it'd just be a better idea to not try and counter the OU standards and go for the Pokemon that the leaders use instead, since they're all you face in the IPGL.

I know, but since there are several teams, each with several dangerous pokemon, i decided to go with a team that is good all-around, and this team has worked wonders for me on shoddy. (not all have been trained yet) Plus, it is also for wifi tourneys.

Gliscor doesnt wall Lucario since it got Ice Punch.
I dont think you need both charge beam and thunderbolt on jolteon.
Whats TTars 4th move ? :p

i'll just help you a bit with charizard :)

obv, gym leaders dont keep their leads the same for every challenger, but i'll just use the most common ones

titanium gym- the two starters i've come up agaisnt, magnezone and scizor, will be eaten alive my charizard no problem, however, most people dont use charizard except for a starter, and he'll guess this, so he will most probably use gyrados, and he'll then use dragon dance while your switching, so perhaps for this gym use a gyrados starter, maybe with a focus sash, so you know you'll KO it with stone edge.

normalism gym-dusknoir starter. again, use gyrados, taunt away the will-o-wisp, then dragon dance on the switch. i appologise if i'm wrong but i believe he doesnt have thunderpunch so you'll be okay

spelltag gym- rotom starter, fire blast this sucker away :)

ouragan gym-double battle starters gliscour and gyrados, both of whom petrify charizard, your team really isnt good against both of them, this isnt going to be easy :/ how about vaporeon and jolteon to start, jolteon will bolt gyra, and vaporeon with beam gliscor. jolteon will die after a gliscor earthquake, but he'll lose two and you'll lose one and you'll be out of a very tricky situation.

inferno gym-im really sorry it's been so long since i've battled phantom i cant even remember what he had :| pretty sure charizard will be fine here, even if he starts with starmie you can switch to vaporeon who'll absorb it protect to see it he'll bolt you, then switch to scor if he does.

flashflood gym-for obvsious reasons, you wont want to start with charizard. maybe gyrados?

hope i helped :)

Dont fire blast rotom away. I got in 3 SD's while it set up screens and switched.

and how much did you lose by? :O

haha joking :) thats a really good idea

i switched out my scizor, on her spirit tomb, i used two swords dances, switched to dragonite (all while she was using sucker punch) then managed to use a dragon dance, and ended up with one lethal pokemon

Hey that was pure luck she bet me :p
I had 3SD's and 4 speed boosts on my Lucario and hers had 2 SD's, i tried to use blaze kick she got a crit hit with ES :(

oh of course it was freddie :p ah ha
but yeah she should really put taunt on spiritomb

ANYWAY this is a rate my team thread ah ha

what do you think about charizard as a scarfed starter?

I dont like choice items on leads (I dont like them in general, except on my Starmie.)

Do not choice scarf your lead. You do not want to be locked into a move with your lead, because the minute you use a move your opponent will switch in the appropriate counter.

TTAr's 4th move is Ice Beam, I gave lucario crunch because it is a better all around sweeper with crunch, and as for a scarf lead, i got the idea from smogon's moltres page:
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/moltres
and from another smogon analysis:
http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54669
charizard is designed as an anti-lead.
and jiminthesky, thanks for the lead advice for the gyms, i plan to start with the inferno gym, just as soon as i train my pokemon.
Hoping to get advice :)
