Well, maybe it does. I just thought it was funny.

Being sued is not something we Norwegians experience often, so this makes me feel like I'm part of some American drama or something.

Or not.

It's still funny, though.

Props to you Eagle, the pure anadultered genius. And yeah, Ryokan, be careful. I doubt he'll succeed but crazier things have happened. It could hurt you. I mean, a woman over here spilled coffee on her lap and sued McDonalds because she didn't know it was hot.IT WAS COFFEE, FOR THE LOVE GOD. WAS IT SUPPOSED TO BE ICY?

You have nothing to worry about. This frivolous case will be rejected by the Court. I mean, what court is ever going to say UFOs exist unless the plaintiff can supply proof?
 
*sigh* just another rediculous case. i mean lindsy lohan sued a restrauant because she tripped in their parking lot!(i mean she was wear high heels in the rain! THE COLD WET RAIN!!)

Actually, IIRC, the woman had been served boiling coffee, not the average temperature. Obviously, she had to supply some proof that it was abnormally hot to even make it to the courts.

Back on topic: Whoever is suing you is pretty dumb... you don't sue someone you have an argument with on the street.
 
That evidence was verified by scalds on her thighs. Of course, coffee at about 140 degrees would produce the same result. Which just happens to be what Mr. Coffee cranks out.

You have arguments with people on the street? Actually, you could be charged with harassment in cases like that.
 
Maybe where you live and if you can afford a solicitor/lawyer to represent you.
 
Apparently, I might get sued by 4kids for trying to get YTMND members to raid their forum. And I thought YTMNDer's liked stuff like that to sites like eBaum's World and Habbo

Don't forget the judge who sued over the dry cleaners losing his pants.

You have to realize that McDonalds countersued and won most of the money back. Anyways, please keep us updated on the process of the lawsuit. I want to see who wins. Isn't there a law that you can post whatever on internet message boards, under consent of the webmaster? I mean, there's enough George Bush flaming to light the rainforest, but he's not suing anybody.

I think it's because of freedom of speech.
 
There's no laws specifically governing speach of web forums. To my knowledge, it's commonly been treated as private property, with you being legally responsible for your own words in posts. You can be successfully sued for libel from things said on a web forum, but the incidence rate of actual suits of that nature is low, since most judges see them as frivolous. Simply calling someone a liar would generally not fall under libel.

It's worth noting that there is also a huge conflict of jurisdictions in regards to internet traffic. Any individual post on this forum has 2-3 jurisdictions relevant.

1. US law (The server being located there)
2. Australian law (With myself being here)
3. The local law of the country from which the post was made
