I'm confused about shaymin!

So lemme get this straight, platinum has a new form of shaymin, but the only way to get the original form is by cheating/hacking.

or has there been an event officially released giving shaymin away?

last I checked, shaymin and arceus weren't officially available yet.
 
well wtf then?
when are we supposed to get them?

I want to complete the pokedex without hacking, but first, I need the means to be able to.
any word of when we will be able to officially get shaymin and arceus in america?
 
we will probably get it when the movie comes out on DVD
 
So it has been determined, then, that the only way to get Shaymin in Platinum as well is through an event? I thought it was still up in the air as to whether or not he was catchable in game.
 
The Shaymin event gave away Shaymin, not the Oak's Letter to obtain the in-game Shaymin. No such event for that key item has happened yet.
 
There are two Shaymin.

The first Shaymin is the one contained within DPPt, this one is at level 30.

The second Shaymin was given away at the 11th Movie in Japan. It is Level 50 and is capable of going Sky Forme.
 
So, then is the in-game level 30 Shaymin stuck as land-forme?

Also, what happens if sky-forme shamin learns a move that land Shaymin can't? Will it just be forgotten?

I heard it's possible to get Shaymin (and Darkrai) through tweaking

I read that the in-game Shaymin can become Sky Form as well.

ANY Shaymin is only "stuck" in Land forme in DP, regardless of where it came from. In Pt, there is the means to switch between the two formes, but Sky forme cannot be carried over to DP without reverting. This is also true for Giratina's Pt formes.

You were misinformed. It has been verified that the Glacidea Flower can only be used on Shaymin with the Fateful Encounter flag. This means that the Shaymin caught in-game will never be able to transform into Sky Forme (at least not in Platinum).

hes right. the only way to do a ingame one if its hacked.

I'm afraid to tell you that as far as I know you won't be able to get Arceus or Shaymin without hacking. I have a shiny Arceus but that's only from Action Replay. I don't have Shaymin; it was because I didn't have time to get it with my cousin's Action Replay. Or, you can do a pokemon event.
 
Well you can hack, or trade some guy that has a hacked or legit version.
 
Well I know you can tweak the game with an Action Replay code so that when you go into the Pokémart and the man in the green suit gives you Oak's Letter. Doing this also unlocks the new pathway of land where Shaymin resides. However, you gotta cheat. NO events in the USA have happened yet for anyone to get Shaymin in the game, though there was that event in Japan....But I don't believe I have added any new information about Shaymin. She's just my favorite Pokémon. Genderless, but my favorite. :D
 
i recon its gonna be given away with the dvd movie release (here in england anyway) like the only major event we had was darkrai given away in conjunction with the dvd release of movie 10
