There is a glitch in my game I can no longer ignore. A while back after defeating the Elite Four, the Empoleon I'd recieved in a trade at the beginning of my game was deleted from the game after the message "The save file is corrupted. The previous save file will be loaded." came up.

This has happened so many times since then that I can no longer stand it. I'll go to my PC and find that three of my Pokemon have copies and a few have just disappeared. As far as I can remember, I've lost an Alakazam, Butterfree, Snorlax, Linoone, Empoleon, Slowpoke, Ditto, Bibarel, and the straw that broke the camel's back: the Milotic that took me about two hours to breed that was almost maxed out of Sp. Atk. EVs, which was also holding my only Lucky Egg. All of these Pokemon were important tools (Alakazam was my item thief, I was breeding Snorlax / Slowpoke, Empoleon was my strongest fighter, Linoone was my high-level Pickup Pokemon, Ditto was my breeder, Bibarel was shiny, etc.) and now they are all gone.

I don't see the point in continuing when whatever progress I make can be deleted in an instant.

If anyone knows how to fix this, or knows if I'm the only incredibly unlucky one to have this happen to them, please let me know. Otherwise, this is the end of this crap for me. Thanks, tkl.

I'd see about contacting Nintendo (or the Pokemon Company? Whatever) and letting them know. Maybe you can send you game in and get a replacement. But I'd probably trade any of your good pokemon to a friend's game first if possible.

Thanks...yeah...my friend offered to do just that. The problem is that I've got 440 species owned in my National Dex, more than 50 flags captured, and a lot of rare accessories, and almost all the berries. I've just recently gotten in to competitive battling...and now...ugh. Life is cruel.

I think you got a bad cart or something that shouldn't be happening. You should drop a support email or call into Nintendo.

I feel for you I know how hard it is to get so far and have your game skew you up the same thing happened to me with my pokemon silver a few years back. So I tell you what I will do when you get a cartridge that works I will give you one of my spare lucky eggs and if you want I will breed any of the breed able pokemon you want.

If this lacked an outside trade, I'd say you got one hell of a buggy cart. However, where did you get your Empoleon? From a friend? Over the GTS?

That happened in my Sapphire too. I didn't lose much, just Wailord, Dusclops, and Metagross.

Thanks so much you guys, your advice and comments mean a lot. Today I found two Lucky Eggs, so I'm deciding to give it another go. I've been saving about four times before I turn the DS off each time and hopefully that will prevent it. If this happens again, I'll call Nintendo like you suggested and hopefully we can get some info in case this ever happens to anyone else.

Luna & Blues: My Empoleon came as a Piplup and a Turtwig over a short distance trade...the Torterra I got that day is still in my PC. I really can't figure out how this keeps happening. :(

Venom: Thank you so much! I have to go to a friend's house for Wi-Fi, and I'm going to see if I can't get the stuff I had back, but thanks for the offer, I really appreciate it. :D

Thanks again everybody, tkl

Yeah...my Roserade and Mew just got deleted even though I saved after they were deposited in the PC and then went and trained for ~45 min., then saved again about four times.

--This may sound stupid, but if your DS closes when the game is on, does it screw anything up? That's the only conclusion I can come to.

I hope not I close it all the time. I doubt it does any damage if it did we would have heard about it long ago. Salvage what you what you can and turn in your cartage to Nintendo.

Hold up, I think I figured out how to trick it.
...The game only says "saving a lot of data..." as opposed to "saving..." When you're saving after you move something in your PC. Therein lies the danger, because if I deposit something, it has the chance of being deleted. But if the last thing I do before saving is switch two pokemon around in the same box, like a torchic and a torchic, then nothing can get deleted, because nothing was stored or withdrawn in that transaction....right?

...I'll just have to shift those two torchic around every time I do anything with my PC and save again after I save the first time for the rest of my Pokemon career... but there is hope.
Hope.

Trade your items and monsters to your friend and trade in your cart at a gamestop or something.
