Hello everyone!

I just registered in the forums and this section seemed like the right place to start with :D

I am 24 years old, from Greece. I have been a pokemon fan since i was a kid, used to collect Cards and Tazos (those round plastic thingies) and also used to play pokemon Red on my trusty gameboy Pocket and pokemon arena on my N64 back in the day. So ive known about pokemon since the 90's (pretty much just gen 1 and maybe a little bit from gen 2) but when i became a teenager i lost interest up until 5-6 years ago when i dug up my gameboy and started playing, also borrowed the machine of another friend in order to try pokemon ruby/saphire. Now, so many years later i tried to play pokemon yellow and to be completely honest i was and i guess i still am a bit lost. Ive been playing for the past week, with the help of a guide and the google search which provided some valuable information and movesets. But i ll get back to this in a bit.

So, i am quite old already and i just cant believe that kids nowadays still love pokemon.. i dont even know how many pokemon generations are there anymore. It is kind of weird to see kids 15 years younger than me playing the same games i used to play when i was a kid, but i guess that's the magic of it :D

Also, to get back to the yellow game.. as i said above ive been playing for around a week now. I just reached the victory road and those are pretty much my good pokemon:
Lapras (52 level, Surf, Body Slam, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt.. thinking of replacing body slam with Rest)
Exeggcutor (51 level, Solar Beam, Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, Psychic)
Zapdos (51 level, Thunder, Thundershock, Drill Peck, Fly)
Articuno & Moltres (havent assigned skills yet)
Duggtrio (Level 40, Dig, Slash and 2 other skills)
Gengar (46 level, Night Shade, Hypnosis, Strength, Confuse Ray)
Snorlax (40 level, Rest, Body Slam, Headbutt, Earthquake)
Alakazam (47 level, Psychic, Reflect, Recover, Psybeam)
Nidoqueen (35 level, shes kind of weak though so i stopped using her)
Primape (34 level, low kick & some others.. but i replaced him with machamp earlier today, 40 level atm)

Lapras/Gengar/Exxegcutor/Alakazam are pretty much my strongest pokemon right now with the current movesets.

The rest of my pokemon are either low level or high level but ive never used them (Excluding pidgeotto & butterfree which i just stopped using because they just seemed too weak.. especially pidgeotto)

And aside from my introduction, id also please want some help regarding all the questions (general pokemon stuff and questions regarding pokemon yellow)

So about yellow, here i go.
I plan on getting Rhydon, heard hes good. If i do, which moveset should i use? I dont really have a tank besides Snorlax.
Is moltres any good or should i get ninetales? I dont have any fire pokemon except for moltres which btw i just obtained, and i think charmander and growlith (both low levels). Moltres seems like a good fire pokemon to start with, considering that hes a legendary pokemon with all around good stats in the game, but then again i read that ninetales is better (problem is that i have no idea where to find one, or even a vulpix).

Are the movesets of my pokemon terribly bad? yes/no or just correct them for me.

What's so special about chansey? I find that pokemon incredibly boring, its like a weaker snorlax, i just dont understand what's all the fuss about x,x

Generally any other advice regarding pokemon yellow would be much appreciated.

And lastly, i want to know which game i could possibly play once i complete the yellow pikachu version, in order to catch up with things (like a gen 2 game or what's next after the yellow version of game boy color?). Because im kind of lost.

Again, ive played ruby/saphire version but i really dont remember anything anymore (except that the pokemon in those games were pretty weird and unknown to me).

And btw, why did i choose pokemon yellow? Because i am familiar with the Pokemon in gen 1 and even though im not generally knowledgeable it seemed like a good idea to start with something that im relatively familiar with (Even after all those years, i still remember most of those pokemon yea :D)
Sorry for the wall of text :p

Glad to be here.

Hi, welcome. Im 26 myself and am quite glad Pokemon is still going and can't believe we're at Gen 6 already. It's amazing, and I still love the games. I may want to give my Yellow version a replay at some point. I hope you have a great time here and if you need help, feel free to ask any staff member like myself.

Ah... TM1. Cut. The most useless TM Welcome to the forums! You're not that old, by the way.

Haha alot of people say that, but no one is to old to like pokemon or play it. i started playing it around age 8 or 12 and now i'm 21 a grown ass man lol. again no ones too old to love pokemon. hell i still collect the cards to. xD

Gen 6? >.> i had no idea..

You're not old at all! :) I'm 22 and have loved Pokemon since the days of Red and Blue. But whoo, I'm half Greek myself so it's pretty darn awesome to have more members from Greece join! Though.. I've sadly never been there. Would really love to go sometime. ^^

Welcome to BMGf and enjoy your stay here~

Wow another greek! Where do you live?

Damn. Mixed them up.
So, you're Mega Punch/Dynamic Punch/Focus Punch/Hone Claws. The world wants to know, why the sudden changes? We'll be right back after the break.

I just "finished" pokemon yellow (caught mewtwo with the master ball, tried catching him with great ball and ultra ball, spent like 5 of each but they never even landed on him.. wow) and now i think i might level up some pokemon while thinking which game to play next. Any advice? I saw that there are some new versions of the original games.. fire read and leaf green, but by reading the description those might be too complicated for a starter just like myself. So maybe pokemon crystal, since its the better version of gold and silver and if im not mistaken its a gen 2 game?

Thanks!

Oh by the way, i think i just found out how to win in the slot machines in the celadon city, ive been winning for the past 30 rounds.. in a row.. All you have to do is apprently press A every half second.. Too easy..

Yo, TM1! That's definitely quite the lengthy intro, but nothing wrong with that! I feel that it's better when people explain a lot about themselves and their interest, it makes it a lot easier to identify with their likes and stuff, y'know? Makes it easier to make friends when you identify with people who share common interests with yourself. :3

But welcome to bmgf! I'm definitely happy you joined. This place is really warm and friendly and I think you'll have a great time here~!

As an additional note to this post, whenever I'm on my college campus, I still see people play Pokemon every now and then. It really does go to show that one isn't really too old or too young to play Pokemon. Just be yourself, really~!

Yea i felt like a "hello there" wasnt enough :p

Would anyone be kind enough to help me out with choosing my next pokemon game? Ive got nearly 100 pokemon in yellow and i ll try to complete the list. Then im going to start another game and i dont know which game to choose, should it be fire red or leaf green or perhaps crystal or heart gold/soul silver? What would be best for me? What are the main differences of those games and advantages/disadvantages oh and most importantly can i play any of those in gameboy color or in gameboy advance or i need another machine? Thank you very much!

Gameboy Color games can be played fine on a GBA, so no need for a second system. I's personally recommend HeartGold/Soul Silver. If you have any questions about older games, I'd recommend this thread to ask:http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f226/simple-questions-simple-answers-gens-1-4-a-118351/

Welcome to the forums! I recommend giving a shot at Black and or White, assuming you have a DS, so you can see some of the new Pokemon. If you don't want to stick with just new Pokemon, you can get Black 2 or White 2, where there are over 200 options for your team. (I think there's around 250, but I don't know). I also recommend Sinnoh, very slow paced so you can get back in the game, with lots of original Pokemon and new ones. I've always been interested in Greece, so that's cool too. Once again, welcome :)

Hey thanks for the warm welcome again! For some reason quoting is messed up for me so i could not quote your posts. I made a post in that FAQ thread so thanks for pointing me to the right direction!
