I was like freaked out when I totally refreshed my web browser. When I like refresh my browser, a different picture appears...

=/

Yes, we currently have a problem user on 'pedia and Archives who doesn't seem to understand that they can't just decide for everyone which images will be used, and keeps replacing images with "official" ones from the TV Tokyo site, with watermarks and text all over them (not to mention in poorer quality than the shots we took ourselves). Pie and the others are trying to deal with them, but it's tiring.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one seeing weird images pop up all over the forums. I thought it was just me.

This user has been using multiple (and I do mean multiple) sockpuppets over several weeks to attempt to evade bans and punishment for deliberately disobeying the warnings of administrators. In addition, she has had the nerve to harass me via private message to beg for redemption despite me repeatedly telling her I cannot help her.

Any help legitimate users can provide in stopping her is greatly appreciated.

I'll lay it all flat once and for all; we've gotten a lot of questions over this issue.

It started pretty simple - some of the users thought it'd be a good idea to include episode screenshots into the episode articles. It sounded fair and reasonable at the time, because we assumed users would be fair and reasonable in selecting images for the episode articles. Specifically, I did; I was the one who made it possible for people to include a screenshot with the article in the infobox. If I have made any mistake in this whole matter, this was it.

So, soon we have two users who want to upload screenshots. One is Taylor, who is not an outstanding user, but who has demonstrated acceptable taste in screenshots and works moderately well with others. The other is Jsmith, who seems to have poor taste in screenshots and a desire to be the one who uploaded a screenshot just so she (yes, she, as we've learned) can say the screenshot uploaded is hers. She has, over the course of these events, shown total failure to understand and respect our policies and judgments, and does not cooperate with others at all.

So it started with her uploading TV Tokyo screenshot images over existing higher-quality more informative screenshots. I told her not to do that because it was a bad idea, and because it's rude to upload over another person's image without at least discussing it with them first. Which it is, and which we'd prefer Taylor would do as well (although when he tried, granted, the problem user gave him no response). Unfortunately, she apparently read everything I said as "when it comes to screenshots, first come, first serve."

She then made it her mission to upload the TV Tokyo screenshot first and not allow any user to make changes to it. And when I say mission, I mean mission. She reverted, she made transparent sockpuppet accounts, she whined about users not being fair, she bitched at us for being biased towards Taylor, she threatened us, she made excuses - ANYTHING.

It was during this period that the problem escalated to ridiculous levels which were unforseeable before this point.

It was also during this point which we decided that we weren't going to try and reason with her any more, since every time we talked to her or wrote out a rule specifically to tell her something, she would either ignore it entirely or pick out pieces that she could take out of context and hold up for anyone who dared oppose her to see as justification for her actions. She wasn't going to cooperate with us; so, obviously, we decided we weren't going to cooperate with her.

And that's, really, about where things stand today.

We're doing everything to ban her. She's using proxies, which makes it very difficult to say the least. We locked down registration for a notable period, and as soon as it reopened she registered a new sockpuppet and went back to work. We're working on a more permanent solution; at the moment, the most you can do is, if you see suspicious behavior at the archives, contact one of the sysops at the archives ASAP.

As a final note: she's by far not an exclusive problem to Bulbagarden, either.

You might be able to IP ban the person.

On another thought I wish I could get some good screen shots but I have the subbed Japanise episodes.
