Has anyone noticed any in- game text errors this generation? I think I found one in Alpha Sapphire, but I´m not sure if it is an error:

After defeating Hiker Trent, near the entrance of the Cable Cab towards Mt. Chimney, he says: "I hear there are some seriusly tough Trainers on top of Mt. Chimney, I intend to get up there and give them a challenge!" However, when you go there, there are NO trainers on top of the mountain. Is this an error that Game Freak made? Because I remember in the original RSE there indeed were some trainers on top of Mt. Chimney, which have been left out of the remakes. Did GF forget to change Hiker Trent's line? Or alternatively, is Hiker Trent referring to Team Aqua and Magma as the strong trainers he intends to challenge, who do happen to be on top of the Mountain the first time you visit it?

So, do you think this is indeed an error that GF made? And have you noticed any others this gen in XY or ORAS?

Try going back to Mt. Chimney after clearing the Hall of Fame.

It´s not that, it´s not a problem for my game, it´s general... it´s just GF placed no trainers at the top of Mt. Chimney in the remakes. This is a known fact and it´s fine. But the Hiker says there should be tough traners at the top, so the only conclusion I can make is:

- He is talking about Team Aqua and Magma, who indeed are fighting each other on top of the mountain the first time you meet the hiker. But once you defeat them, Mt. Chimney stays empty of trainers, while in the original R/S/E once the Villains are defeated, normal trainers are found there.

- Or, GF forgot to change his line from R/S/E

Oh, I just checked, and I can see what you mean. There are indeed no trainers at the top of Mt. Chimney.

Yes, and that´s fine. What my question is, is why does Hiker Trent say he is gonna fight some tough trainers there? Did GF forget to change his line from the originals where you did indeed find trainers on the top of the Mountain, or is he referring to Aqua and Magma as "tough trainers" and once they are gone from there, he just doesn´t change his line?

Probably an oversight not changing his lines? Though in my language, he says 'trainer' - single form - so I assumed he was referring to the PC, who's probably famous for beating the boss of the evil team.

Or, he could be talking about the trainera on Jagged Path. A stretch, but it is also part od Mt. Chimney.

Oh, that´s interesting... Are you sure he says "trainer" in your language? That would explain it. He could refer to the PC (who he is actually talking to LOL) or he could refer to the Villain team boss who was at the topofthe Mountain the first time? (Archie/ Maxie)?

But is the Jagged Pass considered part of the top of Mount Chimney? Cause that would just explain the problem...

I´m being a bit picky here, I know, but I just hate errors in games xD

he says: "I hear there are some seriusly tough Trainers on top of Mt. Chimney, I intend to get up there and give them a challenge!"

Not trying to sound rude or anything, but this got me thinking that you meant spelling errors, not continuity errors.

Although on that note, I have spotted some spelling errors:

In XY, on Route 5, Tierno says, "Nope! Even during Pokémon battles, I'm always checkin' out their moves! And then my feet just starting moving, too! I can't even help it, y'know?"

In ORAS, the youngest sister at the Pretty Petal Flower Shop says, "You can plant a Berry to grow more Berries, or you can have a Pokémon hold it. But now there's a machine that mixes up different Berries to makes candies for Pokémon."

Good point there, but no, I meant continuity errors only in this case. But any kind of errors can be posted here...

And since I'm writing this from a smartphone, typing mistakes are easily explained, like the one I did... Lol

But I don't know how GF does them so often. But then again, I think that is not GF's fault, bur the translators' fault.

PD what do you think regarding the issue from above? (the Hiker Trent issue) Is he talking about the missing trainers from the original RSE or about the Aqua and Magma members who were at the top the first time you walk by Hiker Trent?

Yeah, I came in thinking it was going to be about grammatical errors, as well. ^^;

As far as continuity errors are concerned, I haven't really noticed any. Whatever I did notice in ORAS, I just figured it was GF's losing track of things or a translation mistake. Honestly, I've lost track of any semblance to continuity a long time ago starting with Black and White.

But do you think those errors are GF's mistakes or translator's mistakes? I am not sure how this works, but I think its not GF's job to translate, that would be Nintendo's thing right?

Isn't it basically confirmed Gen. VI is in its own continuity because of the Delta Episode, though? Y'know, in hindsight, they should've done something like this with Fallout 3 and had New Vegas be the true third installment.

Ok, but who is hiker Trent talking about? Are the tough trainers on top of Mt. chimney the ones they removed from the original RSE, which would mean GF made a continuity error in ORAS, or is he talking about Team Aqua and Magma who were indeed fighting at Mt. chimney the first time you visit it, before you beat them?

Well, technically, the way he said 'trainer' in my language was single form so I thought he meant someone strong who's supposedly on top of the mountain. Which is why I thought he was referring to the PC since after beating Team A and Team M there's probably this rumor around the mountain that some trainer beat all of them alone.

Then again, it could be just an overlooked mistake.

You see, I can't stand continuity errors in a game, I find them so annoying..

So I hope in this case it wasn't a GF error... The fact that it is singular form in your language shows it was probably a mistranslation from japanese rather than a GF error... Or they imply the PC...

Considering you say there were trainers there in RS, then it's very obvious this is merely Gamefreak overlooking the fact that this random hiker's line is no longer correct in ORAS.
The real question would be, why did they remove these trainers?

Hiker Trent's dialogue is more likely a translation error than a continuity error given that there are trainers scaling Mt. Chimney. Its more believable he was referring to that and the localization crew didn't pick up on it.

A continuity error would be playing Black 2 deriving its Memory Link from White version since it switches the dragons between the games (though that's self induced) or having the DNA Splicers be an item that's been guarded by the Opelucid Gym Leader suddenly falling in the hands of a random Punk Girl in Kiloude City just because you need the item for B/W-Kyurem or a Street Thug in Mauville City somehow having Genesect's Drives even though its existence at that time should be a secret.

Those are continuity errors, and compared to Hiker Trent's dialogue, very big, intentional errors that couldn't be avoided because if the nature of the games. So I don't really see why you're so hung up over this one piece of dialogue.

It's probably just an oversight, you're looking too much into it.

Yes, but in ORAS, the first time you meet Hiker Trent, if you battle him, after the battle, he says his line that I mention above about him wanting to challenge the tough trainers on top of the mountain, and the first time that makes sense, because indeed, when you go to the mountain top the first time there are trainers there: Team Aqua and Magma. However, once you defeat them, any time you return to Mt.Chimney, Trent keeps talking about trainers being there, but there is nobody there anymore. So my question was who is hereally refering to, the left out trainers from RSE or Team A and M...

I guess you are right, but If those errors are intentional, I don't care. But if they are due to overlooking and not paying enough attention to details, is when they annoy me.

However, it´s probably a translate error in Hiker Trent´s case. and I guess it´s not GameFreak who translate the games.
