In hindsight , why they bring only dawn and Chloe were bought to watch ash match in person ?

The choice to bring these characters in person seems random especially since Chloe never had any sort of dynamic with ash and dawn also don't have connection to ash journeys team, it also feels weirder since dawn got vanished after match is over without any goodbye or sort , so why they bring them at all.
 
Honestly these would be the only people who Ash traveled who would have watched at the stadium if I were to choose

  • Serena (She’d be on Ash’s sideline cheering him on)
  • May
  • May
  • Clemont
  • Bonnie
  • Brock
  • Max
  • Chloe
 
Two other simple answers is that
A - They needed someone to fill in for Goh since he went off to Project Mew otherwise nobody would have been watching Ash battling Leon in-person (other than Hop and Sonia) and both Dawn and Chloe were the easy picks.

B - Even if every companion was there watching there'd have been no way they'd have gotten every VA to return so some would have probably just stayed silent (May and Max especially hence why they got a small cameo instead).
 
Yeah, drawing a such big, colorful crowd of almost 20 characters would've been too much on the animators. And getting ALL those VAs at once would've cost OLM a pretty penny, as well as several ugly ones. Heck, they COULDN'T get May's (Japenese) VA back... :cry:

While it would've been cool & appropriate, the logistics were just too much for OLM to handle.

Chloe was the most logical non-Go option as said above. But she couldn't just talk to a void and Dawn was a logical choice as a character connected to both her and Ash and also wouldn't allienate new viewers as she had multiple prior appeareances in Journeys. I'd have chosen Misty and Brock for nostalgia's sake but I see the logic.
