What's up Readers? Time for my third Fan Fic. I know I haven't finished either of my others, but I blame my ADD. I wanted to wait awhile before posting, but I think I'll let the prologue fester a bit before I start posting chapters. Also, I know how horrible the title is. I hadn't named it when I decided to post, so that's all I could come up with on short notice. (Feel free to offer suggestions for a change).
This will be a sort of twist on the classic story of Red. Now don't get me wrong, I'm generally on the opposing side of using canon characters as main characters (especially protagonists), but this isn't the typical story.
As mentioned above, this story will follow Red. "Unoriginal!" they cried. They were wrong! (I hope) This is a totally different take on how his journey played out. Let's just say that at one point in the story, he will take the road not chosen in the game.
Ok, so I'm not going to tell you what this choice is for fear of spoiling anything, so feel free to speculate at chapters are released. I believe you find out the twist around Chapter 5 or 6, so you don't have to wait long.
WARNING- MUST READ THIS- The prologue is kinda bad. As is the first chapter. Not badly written (I hope) just kinda boring. It pretty much starts out just as all other Journey fics do, the prologue is set the day before Prof. Whoever gives you a pokemon, and Chapter one shows the main character getting the pokemon. This being said, I will probably post the prologue today, Chapter 1 tomorrow, and then Chapter 2 the next day. After that I'll let the chapters sit awhile before posting new ones.
Note: Feel free to criticize the first two entries for grammar, structure, etc,but don't criticise my lack of originality for the beginning. It is MEANT to be unoriginal, and that is noted. Wait until Chapter 2 onward to bash my storyline :ksmile: Here goes...
Red’s house, the day before Prof. Oak gives out pokemon and trainer’s licenses…
Red sat on his bed with an upturned alarm clock in his lap, fiddling with it. He set the alarm for 6:00 AM, tomorrow he would be receiving his first pokemon.
He had turned 15 a little less than a month ago which made him eligible to receive a pokemon from his regional professor, Oak, and a pokemon trainer’s license. With these tools, he would be allowed to journey across his home region of Kanto, challenging countless other trainers and gym leaders, and maybe even the Elite Four.
A poster was plastered onto one side of his wall which showed the faces of the Elite Four of Kanto; Bruno, Lorelei, Agatha, and Lance. There is also a Champion of the Elite Four, but the Champion changes so often that it would be pointless to have only one person listed.
The boy was trying to decide which pokemon he would pick. Professor Oak generally offered one of three very rare pokemon to new trainers; Squirtle the water type, Charmander the fire type, or Bulbasaur the grass type.
Professor Oak was an old man now. He had become confused in his older years, but still remained in his old ways. They said he was a genius, and I guess he was, but by the time Red received his pokemon he had become a shell of the man he once was. Every year he would give out pokemon to new, excited trainers, though he wouldn’t remember a thing about them, not even their names.
Hopefully this year he would remember a bit better. His grandson, Blue, had also turned 15 earlier in the year so he would be receiving a pokemon as well.
Red despised Blue. Whenever Red had achieved anything, Blue would not only do the same, but with more success and in much more impressive form. He was a talent in everything he did, Red knew this, but Red still made it his mission to best him in any way he could. Red saw that pokemon could be a chance to be better than Blue at something. They would both be beginners, so Red could take the opportunity to quickly get better than Blue and then leave him in the dust.
It was getting somewhat late in the evening, so Red thought it would be best to go to bed. He knew it would be terrible to wake up late on the day he received his pokemon, so he slipped under the covers. Red eventually got to sleep, even though his excitement was uncontainable.
Lol. Told you. (good things to come...)
