Anyway, I believe
that you have to beat Rayquaza, at least for your starter to evolve. After that, everyone has set evolution level like in the regular games.
Correct me if I'm wrong, because is so I'd like to know as well! No rush, though.
 
Yeah, you gain access to being able to evolve after you see the credits which happens after defeating Rayquaza.
 
Can you find everstones? Because Wartortle is my favorite pokemon (it's the ears man, I'm sorry!) and I'd be super happy if he didn't evolve into Blastoise!
 
You don't need them since evolution only happens when you go into the cave to trigger it.

You'll see when you evolve Squirtle. Just don't evolve a second time.
