I know it's not going to happen, but if Nintendo decides to put in one new feature I'd like to see voice activated battles.

You might look like a fool in public screaming "Dragonite, Ice Beam" but as far as new features, that would be the coolest thing they could do.

Hmm. I like that. "Espeon! Psychic!"

Yep, nerdy but cool.

You don't actually have to scream. but remember, people can swear through the Mic, that's why the Chatter thing sounded distorted when played.

And the least likely as this is part of the same gen as DPPt.

I doubt this would work (at the moment, in future years maybe), you'd need some sort of voice recognition software to get it to understand your voice and get it to do what you want. All you'd need is a feature that stored on the cart that could record your voice for every pokemon name and every move so it recognised your voice for those moves. Ah, but what about pokemon nicknames? maybe just say the name of the pokemon rather than nickname, or take out pokemon name and just say attack. Get funny looks shouting "bug buzz!" or "sweet kiss!" in public though

Isay It would be fun, but wait will gen. 5. Then we can have it done easier. pre-record sound like a good plan. Then you can well, " lugia, use F****** Aeroblast!!!" all you want.

Voice recognition still has years to go (well, as far as gaming's confirmed) before it's implemented as a main feature...

Heck, everything I recorded on Chatot sounded like a dying Hippopotamus (I hope that's not what I really sound like D:) .

When I recorded myself it sounded like a dying seagull or whale, not joking! Kinda off topic but Microsoft Vistas voice recognition was very good, but for what I said you would not have to say any words, just set ones for moves, so it would be easier to implement, but yes, 5th Gen might be the time for this, maybe after, assuming pokemon lives that long

I mentioned this on Pokecommunity. I was thinking that they could do something with the Pokegear and mic, like recording short memos. They could also have mini-games over wi-fi like Platinum that involve using the mic, like to blow stuff away.

Until they get advanced enough to distinguish between me blowing into the mic, whistling, or shouting at the top of my lungs, I doubt that's a very good way to select moves. If they ever were to implement that, I hope that they either keep the traditional format as well, or pay for soundproofing between my brother's room and my own.

What was said about the voice recognition with Chatot is correct. I never found "chatter" to be all the fun because of the poor quality, I guess you guys are right, maybe in 5th gen

Shouting moves into a microphone sounds several times more fun than it actually would be. It might be cool for a minute if you actually knew someone in real life you could battle with the two of you in the same room, if you were both geeky enough to enjoy yelling out attacks. Otherwise, it'd be a gigantic gimmick and I'd rather have Game Freak spend time implementing actually cool/useful features. Like letting me remove seals from my Pokemon while I'm putting them in the box, instead of making me back out of the box menu, go to the PLAYER CHARACTER's PC menu, remove seals, and then go back to the box menu. Or letting me buy every TM in the game in one convenient location instead of making me hem and haw about what to use one-off TMs on because I'm too goddamn lazy to breed 18 million Pokemon to pass the move along. Or providing a system where you can upload a Pokemon for a specific other cart to pick up later, instead of forcing real-time trades or chancing it with GTS. Or any number of other things that would be considerably nicer than issuing commands using the microphone.

Sounds stupid. As someone said above, it might sound cool for one second..but then...really. I can't imagine sitting there by myself and talking to my game, and it would be annoying around other people.

Why waste time implementing vocal recognition for every single move and every single Pokemon (which some people pronounce many ways) when they could develop a cool, useful feature?

No, I got a better one, Why waste time talking to to the game?

Whenever I talk to my game, it's always something like "...FFFFFFF GODDAMMIT, (INSERT POKEMON NAME HERE!)" or something to that effect. I don't want to shout EIDEL NO DOKUDOKU! at my DS, I'd like to shout why Toxic keeps missing on me whenever I need it.

Voice recognition isn't all that advanced yet, either... and I always have this nagging paranoia about me thinking that I'm bothering people with the volume of my DS. Always, always use headphones, and always avoid using the microphone if I can. I prefer pressing X over screaming OBJECTION! >8O at my DS, thank you.

Just me, though... most of the other people I've met don't care about little things like that bothering people, lol.

I know what you mean. The DS lite seems to have two volume settings: too quiet, and too loud. I also usually hail taxis with the X button instead of whistling, although with that, there's the added danger of people looking me oddly and asking "Why are you whistling at your DS?"

I don't play with sound because my parents hate the sound of video games. So, I eventually got used to the concept. It's not that bad actually. Helps you focus.

I personally focus better hearing it... but usually I stay silent with the games anyway...

I do feel awkward in public when underground and stuck in a leaf trap or fire trap...

Or the game would assume that whatever you said was directed towards your active Pokemon, and then it would only have to recognize attack names.
