Inspired evolutions

ok, so we've had threads on what evos should/shouldn't exist, but what about ones that already exist that are inspired choices, for instance, we all get pissed with the amount of zubat in caves and if you're doing the nuzlocke your bound to have at least a hundred million by the end of it, but with its subsequent evo to golbat (which was already pretty cool), you now get crobat, which is freaking awesome! So you can get a pokemon early on and with training and patience it can become very very good.

Any others?

Abra. They are a little hard to catch, but you can get them early in all the games. Then they are really hard to train, but it pays off when you get Kadabra. Then, if you have a buddy to trade with, you can get a pwning Alakazam at level 16!!!

Shinx... talk about a useless electric type, doesn't learn Spark until after it evolves into Luxio, and Luxray is just amazing. (in diamond, don't own platinum)

Are we forgetting Budew in Sinnoh? That little bugger is about useless but Roserade is quite the opposite!
