Yesterday, Microsoft unveiled the new Core 2 Quad processor which boasts four cores on one die. My guess is these processors will most likely go on sale for around $1,000, since the bulk price is $851 for the desktop model. They also revealed that there will be two variations on the Core 2 Quad for server machines, and those CPU's will start at around $690 at bulk rate.
I say that even though this technology is expensive, I still have two burning questions that you can discuss amongst yourselves:
1. How would you cool this mammoth processor?
2. How much power do you think would the motherboard/CPU combo need to even start up? And when I say that, I mean power supply wattage.
