I have a great idea I think that in Gen 5 the new girl coordinator (because lets face it dawn isn't going to be here much longer) should show blatant interest with Ash or vice versa. I think it would really cool to see how the writers handle more blatant crushes.

(especially with Ash being that he is completely oblivious to things like these)

Sorry, but I think that's a horrible idea. In fact, if it was up to me, I'd keep romance as far away from Pokemon as possible.
 
Seeing as 8 - 10 year olds (whom are likely the target audience of the show) have not hit puberty, having something like that in the show would server little purpose, as they wouldn't get it.
 
If it happened, I think I would laugh, mostly because of the inevitable reaction from fandom. It would be pure and utter chaos, akin to the shipping wars of old.

That said, it will never happen and is a horrible (yet mildly hilarious!) idea which would serve only to degrade the show. The best shows, in my opinions, are those that leave the possibility of romance to the viewer's interpretation. Shows that try to include it honestly just bore me. Maybe not others, but I know about a million ten year olds and various other people who would likely agree.

But yeah, this is exactly the reason why it wouldn't work. Pokemon is not that kind of show. It's not angsty and stuff, so it's not needed to be honest, nor would it be well received. At all.
 
As someone who remembers guys from back she was ten, ten-year old males really aren't into the whole "romance" thing. Not to mention the horrible, terrible shipping wars that would ensue... *shivers*

And everyone who doesn't give a crap about shipping would just be screaming "Ruined FOREVER!". We're already going to have tons of that as stuff about Gen V gets revealed, so let's not add to it, mkay?
