I know I can't plant berries, and I know the Pokreus will never be cured,

What else is there I can't do in Sapphire without the time functioning?

The tides won't change in that cave that has tides... a bit odd that there's only tides in one cave:B

I'm also sure events like Sales at the Lilycove Department Store will not start, The Shoal Cave will not have any tide changes, and (not sure)The Mirage island won't show...

the sales won't happen, the tides won't change, the mirage island will never reveal itself. Basically anything in the game that operates on a time function doesn't work.

you can fix it like with gsc though. also if u bought it from gamestop u can exchange it.

I'm not particularly interested in resetting so I can get the time events. Just looking to go through a decent chunk of the game and Pal Park into Platinum. As long as I can go through the game without time changing and still get all the legendaries available without an event, I'm good.

Oh yeah you should be fine.

My Ruby's battery pooped out and berries don't grow, tide doesn't change, and dept. store never has sales. That's about all that's different.

But you will be able to beat the game, unlike Gold and Silver if the battery is dead.
