Internet addiction

Eh, my problem has never been addiction, it's just lack of anything better to do. And I could NEVER play a game, ANY game, for 50 hours straight. Or even 24. I think the longest I've gone is like, maybe 10. Can't remember if that was either an FF game or Guild Wars. But I'm far too aware of what I become without sleep (VERY edgy and angry), so I never purposely deprive myself.

As for the story, I'm just glad it was some 28 year old, and not some kid living with his parents. So much crap would have come out of it if it had been a kid.

That's pretty true. Though I think internet addiction is like addiction to anything in life. There's so many different things on the internet that you're going to find it in life just as you'll find it online. Not saying I condone it, just saying the internet has become such a constant part of life that you'll find most everything off as well as online, well, for the most part.

I definitely notice when I've been online too much at night. The next day I can barely function at work; my ability to concentrate is very low. It's surprising how easy one hour online turns into two, three, and four hours when you're not paying attention. Although the same could be said for television.

Although online could be better than television in many respects. Watching television is simply mindless inactivity while the internet actually involves a bit of interaction (especially on forums). I think it's this interaction that hooks people like this poor guy who died.

Could be better, yes, but it depends on what you're watching. Watching a show that teaches you how to cook something or redecorate your house is slightly more interactive than watching, say, whatever B-movie the Sci-Fi Channel has on.

The question as to addiction is raised when any activity (online, television, etc) begins to take time away from more important activities. If it's a case of not doing your homework because you're IMing someone or posting on forums, then you'd have to reassess your priorities.

I admit it, I'm addicted to the 'net. It ain't as bad as me sitting 50 straight hours [o.0] like Lee though. Mainly because I don't have anything to do because of summer. But since school starting soon It'll be no big deal...

T.V good points:
Learn new things and have fun watching suff.

T.V bad points:
Damages your eyes and sometimes you can get addicted [My brother skipped dinner because he wanted to watch some animè].

Comp' good points:
You interact with new people, learn new things and have fun.

Comp' bad points:
Damages your eyes and get addicted [I stay 17 straight hours on the comp' everyday =(].

All I could think up...
