Internet to hit full capacity in 2010

May be (patly) correct, but there is a huge and obvious "AT&T does not like Net neutrality" subtext and overtext right here.

Meh, I'm just glad that this administration is willing to invest on Broadband. @3@

Then again that needs more money. :/

And yes it sucks when the Telecompanies charge more for "using too much bandwith" >.>

Hmm it's a little hard to believe >_> we'll see what happens, that also means the iPhone might gtfo AT&T...very interesting

It's the Y2K... plus 10 years!

Sorta.

Yeah, I'm not buying into this

How can the internet be full? I did not know it had a tummy. lol me trying to be funny.

I'm thinking its just another one of those ways to increase the price or enforce some kind of thing to rake in money for them.

The first thought in my mind was "They are going to blame it on 2012" But I heard, if this does happen or if it is real, no one can create websites.

I could imagine another end of the world theory forming from this: The world is going to end in 2012, because the Internet is full, then there's going to be mass panic due to people not be able to email eachother...*sigh* Knowing today's world someone is going to believe or make that.

You mean... no more netlabel releases?
*Breaks into tears, sobs*

Close down Youtube for America and you'll see the bandwith drop rapidly. Though...that's not an option.

I probably won't believe it till I see it. I personally think this is another Y2K related thing, just Y2.01K.

*Headdesk*
Seriously? The internet? Full?
Thinking of the vast, millions of websites and files in the universe, there's no way. I would havve to smash my head into a wall and leave it there.
But if it is true, just shut down the online porn empire. Problem solved.

I personally don't see how this is possible. Yes, companies need servers to store data from the internet, but technology, computer wise, is advancing daily, thus why computers become obsolute so fast and why DS chips have more information but are much smaller in size than Gameboy Advanced catrages. So yes, those servers can get full, but with modern technology, just buy more servers, with the amount of money internet service providers make daily, that's nothing. The internet isn't a physical thing, its merely a connection between computers and servers, the servers can get full but the internet itself is like the universe, ever expanding. Each time someone gets a new computer and hooks up to the internet, a daily occurence, the internet gets bigger. So thus, it can never 'be full', the servers and computers can, the internet itself can't.

lol. You've got it wrong, mister. They are talking about network bandwidth. Imagine you and your bro both sharing an internet connection, both downloading porn and trying to play online games at the same time. It might be laggy, but it will be somewhat tolerable. Now imagine your parents went at it and you now have 2 more internet-using siblings. Good luck sharing that one home connection with all of them! This is the problem they're describing (I didn't read that article because this has been stated elsewhere, since a long time ago lol); more and more people are starting to use broadband internet access, and more and more are using their connections more heavily, ie YouTube video streaming, pirating software, porn, etc. The links become over-saturated and everyone will "lag" as a result. ATT and other major telcos are trying to make a big deal out of this, in hopes of:
1) Have the government introduce more internet use regulations (allowing ISPs to freely throttle customers however they want);
2) Have government pay for network capacity expansion projects that the telco would normally have to pay for themselves.

But anyway, the whole thing is bullshit because you just need to lay a couple fibre optic backbones and you'll be good for another 5-10 years. (They just don't want to pay for this lolol.)

Interestingly, the picture is different when it comes to 3G networks and airwaves in general. Places like Tokyo are having a huge problem now, because everyone is using their phones to browse the net/download/stream stuff, which puts a strain on the radio frequency spectrum there. The radio waves are full, so to speak.

Everyone who thinks this says that the internet is full is wrong.

The ability of existing infrastructure to bring the internet to you is not going to be good enough in the near future. The average bandwidth of the stuff we use the internet for is rapidly increasing, and those systems will need to be updated accordingly. Honestly, this is obvious common sense.
