Interview with Inuko Inuyama (Nyasu's VA)

http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g358/Musashi3052/wwwdotuporg1991595.jpg

Looks like there's a brand new interview with her that's all about Nyasu. Can anyone translate? It looks like it talks about Nyasu being fired and traveling with Satoshi.
It does.

"Nyarth is a part of me! Serious scenes are a pain(laughs)"
I play the voice of Nyarth, who, as a part of Team Rocket who aim to use Pokemon for world domination, loses to Satoshi and Pikachu in each show. This year, the series has been going for 14 years. "I've begun to say "Nyar!" in my own life...though I can't say anything like that has happened(laugh), by now Nyarth's become a part of me". A while ago in the anime, Nyarth was fired from Team Rocket and became a friend to Satoshi. "I began to think maybe this way of living is good too(laugh). In the story, if there are a lot of serious scenes, it's not that interesting, and becomes surprisingly difficult". Among the episodes that have been broadcast, which left the greatest impression on you? "The episode when we find out why Nyarth learnt human speech is revealed. Those of you who've only started watching Pokemon should check it out too". Is there anything you'd like to do if you ever became Nyarth? "I'd want to boast to the kids that I made small talk with (Legendary Pokemon) Reshiram and Zekrom!".

Sounds to me as if she didn't like playing the serious scenes as Meowth. Also the 14 year implication sounds telling to me.

Agreed with the fact that she didn't like serious!Meowth, but what does the "implication" imply, exactly?

That's been fairly obvious in her performance since BW began that Nyasu being serious just wasn't working. Megumi and MikiShin can pull it off perfectly, but it just doesn't work with Inuko. I wonder if that's why this plot was done?

Also can't blame for not thinking the serious scenes are interesting since Nyasu has done, well, pretty much nothing in them. I'm curious how the other two feel about it.

Can't really tell either way if Nyasu being gone is permanent. Seems kinda weird she'd say she doesn't like the serious scenes, then have Nyasu go back to that.

Love the answer to the last question. XD Thanks for translating bluesun.

I think its a pain that she doesn't like the serious stuff. This might mean that the show could get less serious or already has. SERIOUSLY(lol) look back at the climax of episode 1 that was some serious shit or listen to one of their older ORCHESTRATED songs a few of those are extremely heavy. That's it I figured out why I rewatch mostly season 1 episode because back then it took itself seriously. Seriously this needs to stop. I got to stop saying seriously, SERIOUSLY. seriously seriously seriously seriously seriously seriously seriously! But then again this one actor not the whole writing staff.

I think she was referring to Meowth being in serious things. I think with Meowth's Japanese voice in particular, it probably doesn't seem as fun doing that voice in a series matter a huge amount.

And there was some crazy stuff that happened in Kanto too.

Wow, this a nice interview! It's interesting that she doesn't like the serious scenes. Maybe it was just too much of a change for her after all these years?

I'm inclined to think that this is definitely one of the main reasons. She's bored with it.

I'm guessing it's the same way with Megumi Hayashibara and Shinichiro Miki.

Both Hayashibara and Miki are used to voicing serious and emotionless characters. They are capable of lowering their vocal range in serious situations when the time called for it. Inuyama, on the other hand, had very little experience voicing characters with lower vocal ranges, let alone those who were serious almost all of the time.

Most of the roles that Inuyama played over the years involved comic relief characters with relatively higher pitched voices. For the past year, Pocket Monsters was asking this voice actress to go outside her comfort zone and change the pitch of a character that she was used to vocalizing in a certain way.

My comment was a joke but Kanto was way more heavyhearted (disregarding filler). I just hope no one else on the staff feels that way.

I think it's so sweet the way she talks about Nyasu :3 But yeah, this really doesn't give an indication of where her character is going, still hopefully since she likes more comedic scenes, the writers will allows Nyasu to be in more comedic situations.

I guess considering she also voices Kurumayu, it’s somewhat fitting that she’s openly confessing disinterest with what she’s been doing up ‘til now. I bet I know what her expression looked like whenever she had to act as serious Nyarth! ;)

In any case, it's cool to think that there's a possibility her opinion on the matter could have been enough to generate this whole 'nyagotiator' storyline we have going on now.
I do wonder if she was more open to the idea of doing all these 'serious' scenes to begin with, but gradually got tired of them as time went on., or if she just wasn't too thrilled with the idea in the first place. Same goes for the other two.

Thank you for the translation, @bluesun.

I think it's highly adorable how she says "nya" in her real life. XD AHHH.
I can imagine it now.

"KONNYACHIWA~~~"
"MINNNYAAAAA!~~~"

I agree that serious Nyasu always sounded awkward. I don't think they have to be so quiet in serious scenes, I mean they don't have to shout or anything, just not be so quiet.

Yeah, I imagine going from funny and having the best lines to monotoning generic bad guy lines would get boring...it would be like if they suddenly had Michael Richards in Seinfeld take depressants and convert to an orthodox jew. No fun to play anymore for the actor.

Its too bad she didn't mention anything about her tenure on the show otherwise, besides what her favorite episode was, "Go West, Young Meowth."

The 14 year mention really makes me wonder, how much longer does Meowth's VA see herself doing the character for? They've officially lasted longer than Takeshi (aside from Orange), and are second only to Ash.

So wait...now that the voice actress for one of the members of the Rocket trio has publically stated that she doesn't like doing all those serious scenes, everybody's suddenly turning around and acting like they've always felt that way? Even though people have been praising those same scenes for the past twelve months?

Make up your mind, people!

Also, I find it amusing that Inuyama Inuko's favorite episode is the same as Maddie Blaustein's.

I found that to be the most interesting part of the interview. I guess once you've played a character for so long, you know which moments actually meant a lot to your character and stuff.

I don't think anyone is changing their minds. I've said since BW began Inuko just can't pull off serious Nyasu. So have many others. That's not the same as saying we don't like serious Rockets.
