Interview with Stuart

It's not his official last name. It's just a name people came up with, and it's assumed to be his last name.

This is interesting. It looks like he might have gotten over the VA change, but I'm still not sure. This was a short article and no questions were asked regarding that situation.

And yet here an employee of 4Kids is using it with little reason to do so. (There must be other things he knows about his character that isn't necessarily common knowledge.)

So the question is, how official is Eric Stuart?

I don't know, PUSA named the character.

And 4Kids don't have a good record, Arbok into Seviper?

PUSA named the game character but 4Kids could create all the other names, including surnames. Arbok/Seviper was obviously incorrect but 4Kids would know the name of their own character and it would make sense to give it to the VA even if it never emerges on the show.

In Eric Stuart's original angry e-mail, (when we first found out PUSA wasn't using the 4kids actors) he claimed that this current season of Pokemon would be the last season.

That...might be true, if the show switches over to Hikari in the Fall and Ash's adventure ends, but I'd take it with a grain of salt. Either 4kids knows something we don't about the future of this show, or Stuart is wrong.

K-Zone: Brock seems to be the wisest member of the gang. Is he a good influence on Ash?

Eric Stuart: I think he acts like a big brother to Ash. Though his girl-chasing is a little over the top, I think he keeps an eye on Ash and tries to help him make good decisions in his life. I think Brock would do anything for Ash.
Awwwwww! *love*

And yey, Harrison is a much better surname than Slate. I wonder if this means Misty's official last name really is Williams? And do 4kids have a last name for May and Max that we don't know about, too?

Max and May Yura, duh! XD

Didn't you watch that one contest episode?

Seriously, I bet Flowers would be a good surname. I wonder if J&J have ones as well?

Mm, didn't the Harrison thing start when "What is Brock's last name?" was used as some sort of tie-breaker question at a trivia competition run by PUSA? Or something? Maybe it's more official than we've been giving it credit for.

In which case, I'm disappointed. It SHOULD be something with a Rock-type pun, no question! (Just not Stone, because then he'd be distantly related to Steven Stone, which is hard to picture.)

Brock Granit.
Brock Slate.
Brock Rocky.
Brock Hardson.
Brock Stoney.
Brock Rockson.
Brock Stoner.
Brock Sandstone.
Brock Pebble.
Brock Rubble.

Brock Flinstone!

That's funny, I'm really relieved Brock's last name isn't based on a pun. :p You just know it'd be every bit as bad as Sketchit.

I personally like the last name Slate. It's not an all-out obnoxious pun (which I hate), but rather more like how the cities are named in English, after colors and plants and such. Slate is a grayish color, if I remember correctly, like rock. Harrison isn't a bad last name, of course, I just find it a tad too "fanfictiony".

Edit: *snickers at Habunake's "Brock Stoner"* I'm sure Brock isn't into that, but I can't say the same about Flint. ;p

I think the saddest part is that none of the original VAs had any say on whether they wanted to keep their roles or not.It seems like it was just a lot BS'ing between Pokemon USA and 4Kids and one day *bam* their jobs on the Pokemon series is taken away.

I mean,no one is really going to remember Eric Stuart for his Seto Kaiba. He would've been remembered for Brock and as the prominent voice for James. But after all this,Stuart will just have a number attached to him as "Brock VA #1" or "James VA #2" in the following years.Pretty much how Ted Lewis was just "James VA #1" until he had prominent roles in Tracey and Giovanni.

But eh,who knows? With reports of Harley's VA supposedly quiting 4Kids and now Ted Lewis rumored to be quiting,I guess anything is possible. What does 4Kids have left anyway? Yugioh is done,One Piece is a train wreck,TMNT is one of the franchises that's been attributed to some 4Kids' losses over the years, and Viva Pinata? =/
