((Okay, everyone, You know what to post about. I'm sure most of you have been through this kind of thread beginning before. I realize there are four of us and three starters, so I'm adding a new starter: Ralts.))

Eleven-year old Cole Jacobson sat in his dining room, stuffing a bagel down his throat as quickly as possible. The clock on the wall displayed 8:07, eight minutes before he was due at Professor Birch's lab. Cole had already donned his backpack and watch, and was attempting to put on his shoes while eating.

"Slow down," Cole's mother called from the kitchen. "You're going to end up choking to death, and then who's going to get that Torchic?"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Cole said, swallowing and drizzling some water into his mouth. "But if I don't hurry, then I'll miss my opportunity and have to wait a whole year."

"You have food, water, and clothes packed?" his mom asked quizzically.

"Yep, all in my backpack," Cole responded. "Besides, It's not like I'll be traveling alone in the wilderness. There are towns, and a few kids form the neighborhood are going to be coming with me."

"Just be careful, for my sake if not for yours," his mom replied, walking out of the kitchen. "I remember the day I got my first Pokemon."

"Yeah," Cole agreed, "I'll always remember this day." With that, he strode out the door and began walking down the path to Birch's lab.

Justin had come a long way from Johto, wishing to start off in the Hoenn region. He was all prepared for his journey, having previously packed all the essentials. He arrived in Littleroot Town, hoping to get his very first Pokemon. "I can't believe I'm finally beginning my journey! This is gonna be so cool!" He said as he looked at the entrance to the small town.

Breakfast was a silent affair in the Blackwell household, as it more often was than not. Metal cutlery scraped against ceramic plates and then there was silence. Semper's parents communicated in thin gazes and slight gestures over his bowed head. Semper paid them no attention. Hair fell over half-lidded eyes, and the boy stood in one swift movement. His parents seemed to take no notice of it. The taught bow-strings of silence were cut as his chair hit the floor, wood on marble creating a bang like gunshots as it splintered. Semper span on his heel, footsteps audible as the heels touched stone with each step.

A door slammed somewhere in the world, the only indication that there had ever been anymore than two people in the room. Metal cutlery scraped against ceramic plates and then there was silence.

A halt in a continuous rhythm, and Semper's movement slowed as he approached the gates of the small town. His eyes ran over the houses, only half-noticing how small they were in his still anger-fueled state of mind. He glanced at his watch, frowned, and began to walk again, feet only slightly less audible on the dirt path than on the marble floors of his home, as he approached the lab.

A clock ticked loudly from somewhere within the house. Noa rolled over in his bed, still sound asleep. Suddenly, the covers were thrown off the boy, and he awoke with a start. It was just a moment ago that he had still been dreaming, but now he was widely awake. Noa jumped out of bed, and hobbled, trying to put on his jeans, over to his calender. "Yes!" he said, pointing to a circled date. "Today's the day!" Noa grabbed a rubber Pokeball off of his desk. "I choose you!" he shouted, throwing it, only to have it bounce back and hit him square in the face. Noa laughed, and walked downstairs, to find his mom cooking a hearty breakfast. "Good morning, dear." she said, without lookign away from the stove where she had been frying eggs. "Mornin'" Noa replied. "The big day is fianlly here!" his mother smiled, putting a plate for her son on the kitchen table. "Yup! Today I start my Pokemon journey!" Noa exclaimed, gobbling up his breakfast, quickly. "What's the rush?" "I wanna get to the professor's lab early, so I get first pick out of the three starter Pokemon." he explained. "I'm sure Professor Birch can wait." his mother said, as Noa got up to leave.

"I'm gonna miss you." she said, shedding a tear.
"I'm gonna miss you too, mom."

"Promise me you'll come visit."
"I will mom."

"And don't do anything dangerous."
"I won't, mom."

"And did you pack enough clean underwear?"
"MOM!"

Noa embraced his mother. "I'll be fine." "You're right, I worry too much." she said, as they went out to the front porch. "Well, I'm off!" Noa said, getting on his bike, and riding off down the dirt roads of Littleroot Town.

As Justin walked along the road to Professor Birch's lab, his pokegear began to ring. "Hello?" He answered the call.

On the other line was his mother, Rosalina. She was unable to say goodbye to Justin before he left the Johto region, being in Sinnoh at the moment. "Hi sweetie, I was just calling to wish you the best of luck on your journey." She said to him.

"Haha! Thanks mom! I'm almost at the lab right now! I can't wait to get my first Pokemon!" Justin said in an excited tone.

"I'm sure you are. I just hope you've packed everything you'll need. If there's anything you ever need, don't be afraid to call me or your dad."

"Don't worry mom! I'll be alright." He said, before they said their goodbyes and hung up. He continued his journey to the lab.

Cole arrived at the lab, knocked on the door, and waited. After a few moments, the door was opened by Professor Birch.

"Hello," Birch said. "You must be here for your first Pokemon, right? Just wait here for the others, I'll be back in a moment." With that, the door closed and Cole began to wait.

Noa approached the lab on his bike. He pushed at the kickstand with his sneaker, firmly planting it in the dirt. He hopped off and walked up to the front door of the lab. Noa knocked, then stepped to the side, as to not be hit when it opened.

((Corruption had to drop out because she's going on vacation, which means there's only the three of us now. That also means that Ralts is no longer an available starter.))

Just as Noa arrived on his bike, the door to the lab opened once more and Professor Birch stood in the doorway. In his hands were three small and flat devices, with touch screens taking up the entire flat area.

"Before you get your starters, this is a gift from me," Birch said, handing each chile one of the tablet-like devices. "These are Poketabs, the Pokedex of the future. Along with recording all the Pokemon you see, this machine can be used to make calls, has GPS technology, and can scan your Pokemon with it's built in camera to check its level, experience points, current moves, and the moves it can potentially learn in the future.

"Now," Professor Birch continued, "Come on in, and let's get you your starters."

Justin took the poketab, thanking Professor Birch, "Wow, thanks Professor!" He looked at the device. "This thing is pretty cool, I gotta say." He walked into the lab, hoping to get his first starter. 'Gotta figure out which starter I want. I'd really like a Treecko, but everyone here likes Mudkips for some reason.' He thought to himself as he walked in.

((So, I herd u liek Mudkip?))

Noa took a Poketab. "Slick!" he said, flipping it open and pressing all of the buttons. "Thanks, professor!" Noa exclaimed, following the others inside.

((The Poketabs don't flip open. Think of it as a smaller version of an iPad.))

"I've got three Pokemon here for you to choose between," Birch said, leading everyone into the building. "Choose one ,and I suppose you'll be on your way."

Cole immediately darted forward to grab the Pokeball that he knew contained Torchic. Examining the Pokeball in his hands, Cole murmured a quick "Thanks" and rushed out of the lab to begin training.

Justin looked at the two remaining Pokeballs. He grabbed one, saying, "I think I'll choose this Pokemon..." He threw the pokeball into the air, and it revealed a small green gecko-like Pokemon that stood about almost 2 ft tall. "Alright! Treecko!" Justin exclaimed as he looked down at the Wood Gecko Pokemon. "Hi there, Treecko!"

The Treecko looked up at Justin and simply waved at him. "Treecko." (Hello there.)

"I think I'm gonna choose you as my starter Pokemon! I think you and me will make a great team, as well as pretty good friends." Justin said to the Pokemon.

Treecko seemed to be happy. He held out his hand, clearly wanting a hand shake. "Treecko tree. Treeeecko." (That sounds excellent. You seem like a pretty nice guy I could easily work with and be friends with.) He said, after getting the hand shake he wanted from Justin.

"A Treecko, huh?" Cole asked, eyeing the other boy's first pokemon. "I'm Cole. I don't think I've seen you around before, are you from out of town?"

"Johto, huh? I've always wondered what it would be like to go to another region. Maybe I will, once I finish up here."

OOC: Just my luck...Another Journey RP I get into and it's incredibly slow...

"Yeah, I might take on the Johto League after I'm done here in Hoenn too. I do think I might go to Unova after though, cause I'd really love to get an Oshawott. I just couldn't catch a plane that was headed for Unova so I decided I'd go to Hoenn." Justin explained to Cole.

"Ah," Cole said. "Interesting. I think I'd like to go to Sinnoh or Unova after this, because Kanto and Johto have that one-Elite Four thing that would be pretty anti-climatic."

((Sorry about the slowness, but if we ever want to get past idle chitchat then @Lone Wolf; has to post.))

"I guess that leaves me with....." Noa grabbed the remaining Pokeball and pressed the button in the middle. A small blue mud fish Pokemon appeared in a flash of red light. "Muskip!" it cheered.
