((Okay, everyone, You know what to post about. I'm sure most of you have been through this kind of thread beginning before. I realize there are four of us and three starters, so I'm adding a new starter: Ralts.))
Eleven-year old Cole Jacobson sat in his dining room, stuffing a bagel down his throat as quickly as possible. The clock on the wall displayed 8:07, eight minutes before he was due at Professor Birch's lab. Cole had already donned his backpack and watch, and was attempting to put on his shoes while eating.
"Slow down," Cole's mother called from the kitchen. "You're going to end up choking to death, and then who's going to get that Torchic?"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Cole said, swallowing and drizzling some water into his mouth. "But if I don't hurry, then I'll miss my opportunity and have to wait a whole year."
"You have food, water, and clothes packed?" his mom asked quizzically.
"Yep, all in my backpack," Cole responded. "Besides, It's not like I'll be traveling alone in the wilderness. There are towns, and a few kids form the neighborhood are going to be coming with me."
"Just be careful, for my sake if not for yours," his mom replied, walking out of the kitchen. "I remember the day I got my first Pokemon."
"Yeah," Cole agreed, "I'll always remember this day." With that, he strode out the door and began walking down the path to Birch's lab.
