Welcome to the Bulbagarden's Mentoring Program!

What this program does
Through this Program, we aim to have Veteran Members (Venusaur) take Rookie Members (Bulbasaur) under their wings and to show them the ropes of the forum. This Veteran Member would be someone the Rookie can speak with if they have any questions about rules, the way of the forum or general location where a thread should go, while also setting up a permanent bond between the two members.

Qualifications to be a Rookie Member
  • Less than 100 posts
  • Join Date from the preceding 6 months
  • Be active in the community.
  • A willingness to participate!
A rookie member must be willing to be open with their veteran member. Interaction between the two members is not required, but if you're signing up for this program, we ask that you stay in it until the end. If you wish to leave this program early, you just need to let the staff know.

If you disappear for a length of time exceeding 10 days unannounced, you will be removed from the program.

Qualifications to be a Veteran Member
  • More than 500 posts
  • Be on good standing in the community
  • A join date preceding 9 months.
  • The ability to work well with others
A veteran member has to be available to answer any questions that rookie members may have. In addition, leaving this program while having a rookie member is HIGHLY discouraged. If you must take a sudden leave of absence, please notify a mod so we can substitute a replacement for your rookie. If you are inactive for longer than 10 days with a rookie and no prior notification was given to a mod, you will be removed from participating as a mentor in the program.

The decision on who qualifies to be a veteran member is solely up to the staff. Do not assume you will get this position due to a relationship with a staff member, large amount of post, etc. The staff decides on a combination of these different criteria.

Veteran Members are only allowed to have up to 2 rookie members at a time.

If you are given the responsibility of having Rookie Members and you abuse this position, there will be harsh consequences , possibly including a lengthy ban.

This program lasts One-Two months, at which time you will be released of your responsibilities as a host.

In order to apply to be a Veteran Member or Rookie Member, you must answer these simple questions.

  1. What part of the forum are you most interested in?
  2. How would you describe yourself?
  3. Are you an active member of any other forums? If so, which?

Applications should be sent through PM to Ghost.

Make sure you specify which position you'd like!

This sounds a lot like something we have in the URPG. It's a great way to introduce new members to the game. It's good to see something like this being instituted to help out newer members.

Come check us out!

I'm all for it. Due to a complicated history of, y'know, not being here, I'm ineligible for both Venusaur and Bulbasaur positions, but nonetheless it's fantastic to see this implemented. New members are the lifeblood of any forum, just as much as old ones are, and it's really important that the two mesh as much as possible. :3

So regular members are Ivysaur?

No, that'd be me. :p

In all seriousness, Venusaur and Bulbasaur are the only "nicknames" for the Mentoring Program, for veterans and rookies, respectively. Both veterans and rookies consist of regular members. Otherwise, regular members are regular members.

So, are moderators able to apply for participating in this as a veteran member? 'Cause, if so, I would love to take place in this.

At this point, we'd prefer if most of the veterans were regular users.

This sounds pretty cool, I wonder where I stand right now? I got the qualifications of a rookie yet go pretty well with the comunity. meh I have to sign up though for me to really worry about that.

I'll be sending out the acceptance PM's tonight or tomorrow, depending on my work schedule.

Can I be a Veteran if I haven't been here for a year yet, but have all other requirements?
