The thing that bothers me is the phrase. "This allows mammals to develop more complex brains and bodies but deprives them of the power of regeneration."
So basically advanced genetic alteration would allow humans to live longer, but all of that extra time would be spent watching Reality TV. Plus I still bet that Mouse would die if you set it on fire.
 
This is great. Now it'll be the cockroaches, Cher, AND mice that will outlive a nuclear winter.

And now I can freely cut off appendages.
