“Twilight,” the teen vampire flick that has generated quite a huge following since release, was undeniably also a major hit at the box-office. With two more sequels in the making, the impact of this particular film is beyond any doubt – in fact, it could be more than anyone ever expected. Police arrested a 13-year-old boy at a Des Moines school who bit 11 of his mates and then blamed his weird behavior on the popular film.

According to the DesMoinesRegister, the attacks occurred over a relatively long period of time, between February 10 and March 13. Ironically enough, only the boy’s last victim filed a complaint with the police, which, in turn, led to other victims of the wannabe vampire to take a step forward with their story. When contacted for comment, the boy’s father reportedly said that he meant no harm but got a bit too carried away with what he had seen in “Twilight.”

“According to the [police] report, the boy bit a 13-year-old female student on the right hand at a track meet on March 13. McCombs [Middle School] Vice Principal Connie Sloan investigated the incident and found that the boy had bitten 10 other students. When police contacted the boy’s father, he said that his son didn’t mean to hurt anyone and that he was biting other students because of the movie ‘Twilight.’ The boy was given a delayed referral to juvenile court on an assault charge.” the aforementioned publication informs.

While this case has not failed to already get some talking about the negative influence movies have on impressionable young kids, both in the media and on the Internet, it also stands as a clear testimony that the film has now become a classic. Oddly enough, this is not the first vampire case in recent weeks, since other schools across the US have also had to answer publicly to students or parents’ complaints of undead creatures lurking on the premises. This is, of course, the first time that the identity of the “vampire” is established.

On the same vampire note, “New Moon,” the sequel to “Twilight,” will see theatrical release on November 20. In 2010, on June 30, it will be followed by the threequel, “Eclipse.”

I don't know who's more crazy: the kid, or his dad. God knows why a 13 year old boy would go around randomly biting kids, but I love how the dad says "he meant no harm". LOLWUT?

Yes, he meant no harm. HE JUST VANTED TO DRINK THEIR BLOOD. BLEUH!

Ah, Twilight fans. A neverending source of lulz.

Someone should tell this dad that his conclusion is impossible because no Guy has actually seen or read Twilight!
The kid was obviously just looking for an excuse to bite people![/joke]

 lol.

Well, at least he didn't kill anyone for not liking the book/movie.

The stupidity of the fangulls, such as what happened in this article, is why Twilight and everything related to it needs to disappear off the face of the Earth. Or burn for hours. Whichever's more entertaining.

The most disgusting thing about the article is it's claim that that piece of crap is somehow a classic.

This is why I hate the series in general. What next, a guy jumping in front of cars to get noticed by a girl?

I heard of that stuff about people hurting other people for not liking the book and movie, Some of those people need to realize not everyone will like the darn book and movie.I kinda hate it when some fans do that. And I would love to actually explore the twilight book to see how good/bad it is.

The worst part of that article is, of course, the use of the "word" threequel. GAH.

It could be worse. Could be guys imitating Edward by sneaking in their girlfriend's window at night, or cutting off the gas to their car to keep them from leaving the house, or any other matter of creepy, stalkerish, abusive things Edward does in the books... which is really already happening.

And yeah, I can't believe people are already calling it a classic. Someone on the fandomsecrets LJ comm yesterday claimed that in a few years people would look at the Twilight movie the same way they look at Princess Bride. Please.

Burn the books please. They should have never have been made. But yeah LoL a guy reading twilight and acting as a vampire? The kids these days are real idiots. I mean the book is about a stalker vampire who falls in love with a mortal and such. I think. Never read it. But if that kid did actually read it and acted violent i dunno how the hell that happens. If not a guy who read twilight he would have gender issues obviously and would not go on a biting spree on the guy friends for a joke but for a bit of good fun. If I ever read twilight and found it to create a random violent nature of some sort right now on the news there would be a report of 7-8 consecutive disappearances of girls in the same method.

Burning books is never right, period. Twilight books are sucky and they have questionable messages, but they don't need to be wiped off the face of the earth.

Also, I don't think that a guy reading romance novels, or doing any other matter of things society deems "girly" necessarily means they have gender issues. It's perfectly acceptable for a guy (straight guys too) to enjoy romance stories, or romantic movies. The only problem there really is is when closed minded men attack them/question their sexual orientation for not liking the standard "guy stuff".

Personally, I think it's sweet for a guy to like "girly" things. But not Twilight.

Yeah its too sweet. Okay okay no burning and no gender problems. But still biting your guy friends on the neck after reading twilight? Its not even that violent!

If this happens, I will fear for the end of the world. The Princess Bride is a great movie. On the other hand, I was whipped into seeing Twilight with my girlfriend, and I was tempted to bludgeon myself into unconsciousness with my cellphone just to escape seeing the end of the movie. I ended up listening to my Ipod and playing my DS for the last hour, and thankfully she didn't notice.

Wait, I swear the "vampires" (pah, pathethic things) from Twilight didn't actually bite? Little boy, a better way to imitate Twilight would have been to sprinkle glitter over yourself.

Stupid franchise.

The Princess Bride is easily one of the greatest movies ever made. Don't even HINT it's anything like Twilight.
