Is it just me or has it been ever since Obama has been elected no news channel seems to be talking about Iraq? I don't know if it's a good thing or not, but it seems to be rathe odd heh.

Iraq has been winding down since before Obama came into office. People are more focused on other things at the moment.

Yeah, with the pull-out, it's just not as big an issue (the economy FAR overshadows it now). Afghanistan seems to, largely, be taking its place as we move more troops there, but it's not brought up much unless there's actually some new development (the recent focus on taking out the drug trade cropped up briefly...but it's not like there's anything to debate there. Most people can agree that taking out the drug lords that often fund the terrorists is a good thing).

GREAT! I am fucking sick of hearing about Iraq, because it's always bad news! We should just leave and let them fend for themselves.

Iraq has, media wise, gotten boring. We're trying to pull out, people are dying, it's chaos, but that's not any different than the last several years.

Yeah! Ignorance is bliss, isn't it. They should just tell us what we need to know and not bother us with that depressing shit that requires you to think. Right? Amirite???

But yeah, we should leave.

Here's how I've always seen it. Everyone disagrees with me but I don't care.

Iraq is in the middle east, a region that has been tearing itself apart for centuries. The government was already pretty unstable (dictatorships always are). It was already a matter of time before the country went to war with itself or something similar. We buzz in and get the country into a lose lose situation. If we pull out, the country will fall apart in political struggles. If we stay, we end up getting caught in that, which would continue the war which would lead to more deaths and eventually we'd have to pull out and we get option A again. Long story short, Iraq is a timebomb that will destroy itself, just like the rest of the region. To many political/religious/traditional differences for such a small area.

If you think Iraq has too many political/religious/traditional differences, look at Iran.
Persians around 40%-50%, Azeris around 24/25%, and numerous other large minorities.

Iraq's is mainly Arabs (75%-80%) and Kurds (Which are spread out among several countries. With 2 main religious factions. Things have been getting better with the Iraqi military stepping up and with civilians showing cooperation with the government in establishing peace.

Meh, I agree the pull-out and (Relatively stable) government has made Iraq a less pressing issue (It's our fault in the first place for going in there >.>) But Afghanistan and Pakistan is a much more pressing agenda. (We should have focused there in the first place)

It's Obama's war now. Can't wait to see how much criticism the administration will get from critics. @~@

The last thing I heard was the hiring of private contractors, you know, companies like Blackwater...

Just a few days ago.
