Does she even have one? It's kind of weird that she was roaming around at such a young age where did she even get clothes and where did she live? It's kind of odd if you think about it.

Since no one in the Village of Dragons seemed to look like a blood relative, I thought she was an orphan the people found and raised.

It's very likely that Iris's parents are nowhere to be seen. She is most likely an orphan who has bonded over the Pokemon that live in the forest. And since Iris and Drayden are not biologically related in the games, it's safe to say that they are not related in the anime too. The elder in the Village of Dragons is probably not related to her, either.

And also we never see Shobu's (although she seems to be a COTD) family either. And it looks like she lives alone in that house in the "iris return to the dragon villege" episode.

I also think Iris is probably a orphan that they found too.

I hoped they would introduce Shountal as her sister. Hair color matches and the stiff older sister

At least we know something of her past, we know nothing about Tracey.

I agree with you on that, Tracey seem to come from nowhere really. except for the pokemon watcher thing we never get to know who he is or even where he's from. His charater's is the only one of ash's traveling buddy's who's hometown is still a mystery.

Well, we know nothing about Cilan's family but his brothers, we never saw Misty's parents but her annoying sisters, and let's not forget about Ash's father, and Dawn's father, whom neither we ever saw or were mentioned, and also Tracey's relatives. Brock, May, and James are the only character's we've seen the full families of. Iris is no different from those characters.

The games mention she was not from Unova, but rather taken to Opelucid by Drayden and raised to be his successor. The anime differs in that she wasn't raised by Drayden, but the possibility still exists that she has a family in another region.

In the games, the Dragon Village is in another region, and that is where Iris came from. Considering that the writers moved the Dragon Village to Unova (for the sake of an episode we could have done without, quite frankly), I find it unlikely that Unova isn't Iris' home region in the anime.

She's obviously different in that we haven't seen a single member of her family; only Tracey is in the same boat, but he was featured in far fewer episodes than Iris has. It is odd that the writers didn't at least make the village elder Iris' grandmother. I do suspect that Iris may be an orphan not unlike N in the games, who had been raised by Pokémon in a forest until Ghetsis found him.

You know that kid from the wild Thorne berries? I like to think Iris is like him.

In the world of pokemon it is necessary for youngsters to fully understand themselves by understanding the world around them. Since such a set of skills is impossible to obtain within a classroom setting, it become necessary to search the world for friends/beast used to fight other beasts to the death with. As for family it seem to be a safe assumetion that they are black, from an underprivilaged socioeconomic class, and are boss dragon masters. They are situated in a small village outside of mainstream society, like the amish............except with dragons.

Iris's family maybe great Dragon Trainer, or Anthropology Professor (?). I want to see iris's family.
