Is anyone here playing the Monopoly game at McDonald's? And if so, have you won anything yet?

I just started playing last week.

And let me tell you, I've been pretty lucky lately.

I don't know how I managed to do this, but I have two of just about every color on the game board, so I'm getting close to winning some money.

As far as Instant Win prizes go, I only have one so far. I won a free "Small Drink or Small Coffee". ^^

I won a couple of free food prizes the last time around. I have two railroads and much hope of getting the $5 million dollar prize. (Yeah, right).

Those games were actually banned here in Australia, after lawsuits involving misprinted numbers of winning stickers (So there were more prize winners than had been allocated for), and involving people using the stickers from previous years (Which were printed in different rarities, with different ones being marked as the ones that would decide the winners. How people thought they could get away using them when they didn't even have the same design, I don't know.).

Heh, I never go to McDonalds, but I used to always go there when they had the Monopoly game. XD There's just something exciting about thinking you might win... and even the little prizes like fries are exciting. ^^ I won a $5 gift certificate, and that's just about the biggest prize I've ever won in my life. XD

That's cool that you've been so lucky, Lisa!

Errrrrm, hate to burst your bubble, but I used to play those games with my family every year when I was little...

Out of every three, two are always very, very common. It's getting the one rare one that's truly the trick to winning those prizes. Trust me - when you have five people working together and you start seeing little piles form of two of every color but not a third one for any of the colors...

The exceptions, of course, are the two with just two, in which case it's only one of the two that's common as Pidgey.

Nah, I avoid McDonalds like the plague.

Good memories, though. Fun game.

I JUST remembered today that they'd started it up again, so I went out and had McD's for lunch. I've always been hopelessly addicted in the past, even though I've never really won anything. It's fun to collect the pieces, though. XD

Since I can't even eat the french fries at McDonald's because they season them with beef-based flavoring, I don't go there very often. I can't really remember the last time I ate there.

I remember playing that game with my family a few years ago, when McDonald's was what we lived on. We had the board, the little pieces everywhere, and the clogged arteries.

This year, we gave up on collecting the pieces. Like Pie said, you always get two out of three for the triplets; and the two common pieces. And there was always the constant repeats of multiple pieces. I have the suspicion that the pieces are distributed regionally through the United States, and that those in the Northeast receive different pieces than those elsewhere.

On the plus side, I did receive the one piece that I wanted, and holding the little green piece of North Carolina makes me happy.

Hmm they had this a while ago here, and the most I won was a McFlurry :)

That game has gone pretty stale, imo. It's just an annual attempt to draw in
more customers to eat at McDonalds. I admit, I loved to play the game back
when all the crowds were riled up to get that darned Boardwalk. I'm not
even trying to play the game and I've already picked up a Park Place piece
on the street. That alone will be more than enough to satiate my collectible
appetite this time around.

Now this game is just a passing craze that only diehard fans really pay attention
to. I decided to pick up a game board from Best Buy the other day and I noticed
that the rules have changed some, and even the new board layout is not really
eyecatching. As some of you mentioned, the patterns in pieces you pick up are
really apparent, you won't get that final piece in the set no matter what you do
(unless you really really love their food). However, I loved the little consellation
prizes like a free apple pie here or a free sandwich there that appear every once
in a while. That would give me a little bit of satisfaction that I know I got
something out of the game.

Unfortunetly, I've never had a real taste for McDonalds anyways unless we
were on the road somewhere in the middle of nowhere, so there's no hope of
me returning just for the game :/.

Aww......

Thanks, YumeHeart!! ^_^

McDonalds Monopoly?
Yes, but it's not the actual board game (if that's what you were thinking).

It's just a little promotion that McDonalds does every year. It's fun, cause they have game pieces on the food labels/packages, and you get to peel them off to see if you win something!! ^^

Woah! That's weird! O_O

I really had no idea about that until now.

Thanks for the info, Pie.

And you know what, that almost sounds as if the odds aren't in our favor (which really sucks, but oh well). I like to gamble, so I'll probably just play the game anyway, even if winning the money is nearly impossible, lol. XD

Cool!

I'm happy you got the game piece that you wanted, Hanako Tabris! :-)

That sounds really dumb, if that's how they have it set up.

I mean, how the heck is someone supposed to win any of those money prizes, unless they know someone from the other side of the U.S. or something?

Seriously, that would suck so much if the game is rigged like that......

Then again, there's still the possibility that they could have all the pieces available at every McDonalds. It's just that, they only have a few of the rare pieces, and they're probably very limited on ones like those (such as Boardwalk, and the 1 out of every 3, which you can't seem to get).

I say that it is rigged for each region of the country. Much like other promotions, like the Perdue's Pokémon CD giveaway that they had with their packages of chicken. There were three CDs. I have 2/3. I never found the last one, and I would have known if the last one came in, as I work in a grocery store. Rigging up a contest like that is not beyond the thought process of a company to get the most amount of money that they can.

Still, I do not know if that is true. It is just some theory that I came up with based on my previous experiences. You could be right, PTL, and could quite possibly get the last piece you need!

(By the way, you can just call me Hanako! No need to sound so formal!)

Oh, okay.

Thanks, Hanako!! ^^

And yeah, that's true. I could be right, and I really hope I am!! :-)

I must win a money prize!! XD
