I think it's a shame his leaving after a relativity short time I feel he could have brought more to the show still and I personally preferred him to matt smith who was ok as the doctor but could be too clownish for my liking at times

I have to agree with you in regards to Peter Capaldi, and I prefer him over Matt Smith. I was shocked when Jenna Coleman left (she played one of my favourite companion Clara Oswald opposite Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi), but this was a huge shock. I thought that he offered a lot more, but we shall see what the Thirteenth Doctor offers in the Christmas episode and beyond.

Clara was a bit hit and miss for me I preferred in her first appearance as the dalek then when she properly came into the show they made her more a plot than a living breathing character

I'm definitely sad that he's leaving. He was a very different Doctor from his predecessors, Tennant and Smith, and that was something that was needed.
Somehow, Capaldi claiming to be over 2,000 years old felt like it had more weight to it than Tennant claiming to be 904.

Besides, not every Doctor should be the same. Capaldi brought out a rougher side to the Doctor, while retaining his curiousity and that inate something that made him the Doctor.

He will be missed, but hopefully, before he goes, there will be the long teased crossover between Capaldi and Tennant.

Much as I love him, I'm never really all that sad when Doctors leave. I mean, I know from the very beginning that it's going to happen some day or another. The most I hope for is that an actor gets a good run before leaving. With regard to Capaldi, I love his era so much that I think this has definitely been the case, and he's still got a season to go!

More than anything, I'm always more curious/excited to see who the new Doctor is and what that actor's take on the role is like.
