It was said in a Interview in Pokebeach that Ash's Grandfather is a great Pokemon Master !
But Was the Director really serious when he said that ?
I mean , look at all the past episode and tell me-
Does it ever feel like that Ash is a Pokemon Master's Grandson !
I mean , Nobody in anime ever mention that Ash's Grandfather was a pokemon master .
Not even Ash ketchum himself !
Everybody acknowledge Gary as Prof Oak's grandson but Nobody seem to notice Pokemon Master grandson Ash !
If Ash really is a Pokemon Master Grandson then their should be more mention of Ash's Grandfather ,
Shouldn't it ?
I mean , Ash also should mention his Grandfather !
He is after all A Celebrity's Grandson !
Plus , In past 14 year we would like to know more about Ash's grandfather legend !
So , May be The Director was just kidding when he said that Ash's Grandfather was a great pokemon master !
I mean, The light novel say that Delia ketchum run the only restaurant in pallet town but we saw another Restaurant in Pallet town in Pokemon chronicle !
So ether that Ash's mom's Restaurant or the novel is a lie !
But then who's the old lady their & Why haven't Delia ever shown working their !
I mean, If Delia is a owner of Restaurant then shouldn't we get to her working their & Ash helping her out !

This is the first I've heard of this and I would not be surprised at all if this were true. I believe that all of Ash's male ancestors have been pokemon masters or had a great deal to do with pokemon. Ash's father is still under speculation and it is a strong possibility that he too, is a pokemon master.

Well, in the second episode of the Kanto series, Hanako does mention Satoshi's grandfather (as well as his father), so there's that.

I've never really heard of this but, as said, wouldn't be surprised if it were true. Could definitely see Ash's adoration for Pokemon partly coming from his family and their being strong trainers. I had (and still have?) my fan assumption that Ash wanted to be as great as his dad/granddad and it was a big factor in why he decided to chase down the Pokemon Master title.

Masamitsu Hidaka never said that. What he said was:
Who is Ash’s father? This one made him laugh, since I asked it rather bluntly and simply. He explained Ash’s grandfather was a great Trainer who traveled the lands a long time ago, and Ash’s father followed in his footsteps and left.

@Kishore; The question has been answered. Unless there's something else, we'll close the thread as per our SQSA policy.

What does a great trainer mean's ?
I mean , Ash may be strong but I don't think he's at a level to be call a great trainer now !
Should Ash's grandfather consider to be a great trainer if he's not a pokemon Master or champion !
He should achieve something for to be call a great trainer !
Winning BF doesn't really count ether & he isn't know as a coordinator ether !

Since this thread is based on a misunderstanding that's since been cleared up, I'm going to go ahead and close it.
