It's not nearly as popular, but it seems to be a phenomenon. Maybe it's the new "Water yo-yo"..

I thought it was more of the "new" Yu-gi-oh.

Bakugan is the bastard love child of Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!. Y'know, the awkward kid with the famous parents and huge shoes to fill, but it can never live up to it? It's like that.

It's more like a fad. I give it through the summer. The ball things are kinda cool, but like Yugioh is never on TV, I assume Bakugan will follow that route, except unlike Yugioh, it won't be around in any form anymore.

It just doesn't appear to have the staying power of Pokemon. I don't see Bakugan still being around 10 years from now.

There was this kid in my 3rd grade class and he said Bakugan was better
than pokemon. Also Bakugan was crated by Sega, this must mean the rumors
of them being rivals is true.Bakugan looks very much like pokemon.
Bakugan and Pokemon are banned from my school.I nevered liked Bakugan,
I think Sega is coping Nintendo because they want more money.

Eh, it's just a fad. Little boys love it, but from experience, little boys have short attention spans.

When I first saw this thread I didn't know what this was because I grew up with pokemon, personally it looks like a bad mix of pokemon, digimon, and yugioh.

I don't think it will get to the status of pokemon.

Exactly what I am thinking.

Bakugan is nothing more than a shitty, half-assed mix of Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh. It's just a fad, and I don't think its popularity will last long. It's not even a tenth as good as Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh.

Reminds of that new Beyblade (yeah remember those? Those were THE elementary playground toys) imitator...Battle Brawlers? They look exactly the same.

Yeah, pretty much.

HATE BAKUGAN. They replaced the pokemon section of K-Mart with Bakugan and put all the pokemon things in the clearance aisle. D:<

I think its a fine show for the kiddies, etc, but they're missing out on a much better show. Unless you watch both. Then go ahead. XD

No way. I don't think something as lame as that can be the "next" Pokemon.

It also seems that its made an apperance in the Happy Meals at Mcdonalds as the new toy of the month, when pokemon was a toy at Burger King, it was much better and it had much more publicity, it even made the news... *shot*

I liked the anime. Then again, it lost my attention after that masked guy "went away".

It's defiantly not the new Pokemon. It's more comparable to Monster Ranchers, which is both a good video game franchise and anime franchise actually.

The series almost seems like a parody of the shonen genre. Those kids are such cry babies, and why are they so into their Bakugan?

Alice is the only reason I liked the series..

Its like a waaaaay more amped-up version of the old-fashioned marble games.

IMO, this is really one of the dumbest things that could've come to America. I tried to watch the show, but I just started to bang my head; I found that more fun.

I actually love how commercials here in America perpetuate the idea that things like this are really popular. The only thing I have respect for in this concern is Pokemon, since there really are many, many closet fans of the games, at the very least. The games continue to evolve to keep the player entertained, and as a result, not just children are enthralled with the games. Personally, I'll keep playing until the games die out. Things like Yu-Gi-Oh! and this Bakugan (UGH! I HATE THAT TITLE!! EVERY TIME I GO TO REFERENCE BYAKUGAN, I THINK "BAKUGAN"!!!) really have nothing on Pokemon, IMO.

Yeah but I don't think something like that can be the next Pokemon. Honestly I thought Digimon was going to taken Pokemon's place but that went and disappeared a few years ago, so honestly who knows. If it is the "next" Pokemon then good for them.

You forgot about Digimon Savers/Data Squad, the FIFTH season!
