Is Gen VI your favorite?

After the 3D models I sort of can't go back to 2-D IMO. Sure the story is IMO weak but I'm replaying it and sort of chose to play "old school" no Exp Share end of game have lv. 60+ Pokemon going against the Pokemon League! LOL!

I also like the smaller grass areas outside of towns instead of long HUGE patches of grass no where to save/heal. I can run between town/heal/battle all I want.

With the Pokemon X Cafe method I can level up my Pokemon end game a lot faster.

Also as Coro Coro said they wanted Gen 6 to be able to catch all the Pokemon (Mythical events aside) but with 20th Anniversary 100% you WILL have a 721 FULL Pokedex by the end of 2016. (Getting stones/trade evos not withstanding but between catching X/Y/ORAS You SHOULD have a full Pokedex. :) OH JOY! Bring on 100+ new Pokemon Sun and Moon!!!!!

Gen IV is my favourite by far, but I admit that Gen VI is in my Top 3 though. The cosmetic changes were really cool sure, but I did enjoy the 2D feel of previous gens, and I miss having my pokémon follow me like in HG/SS. Big-ass Garchomp just casually following you :D

Gen III is also ahead of Gen VI for me, probably cause I played it the most over the years. My main problem with Gen VI games was that they were made... too easy. I mean pokémon games have always been easy (I mean the target audience is essentially 8-12 yo), but come on, the experience share that early and the slightly too guided storyline in ORAS (with Brendan/May taking you to cities you needed to get to automatically, instead of you looking for your next move). I really did enjoy some of the new features though like Pokémon Amie, I must admit, having my Talonflame and Sylveon get extra crits, survive with 1HP and gain added experience or dodge 100 accuracy moves was.... very satisfying :D

Gen VI is great, and I love the 3D modeling, but I have absolutely zero problem going back to the old ones. Gen I and II are, easily, my favourites.

It is my least favorite. I was excited about XY before their release, but the games just didn't live up to the hype in any way apart from the Pokemon models (which were acceptable).

ORAS are the only main series games I haven't played. Enough said.

Gen 6 was good however how it ended wasn't good at all. They gave us Zygarde's form, Ash-Greninja and we know about Eternal Floette but they decided to not do a gen 6 game for them.

Gen VI brought some great things (Bank being my number 1), but Gen IV remains my favorite.

Gen VI is the best mechanically. That is until Sun and moon comes.

That said I have more fond memories of gens 3-5

Mechanically, I would say yes. It is actually quite difficult for me to play any pre-Gen VI games now, because I have grown so accustomed to the newer system. I really like it, from that perspective.

From a storyline and content perspective, however, it depends on which part of Gen VI you are talking about. X/Y are dismal. OR/AS are superior by an extremely wide margin and even come close to matching my favorites (Gen V), but they do still have their flaws.

So, when you put those things together - no, Gen VI does not come out on top. It falls somewhere more in the middle... X/Y really do it a lot of harm and single-handedly drag the whole thing down.

Gen VI is pretty freaking weak if its already over. Gen IV was a lot better as whole with some awesome core games that even got a sequel and the best remakes ever, oh and that little thing about your Pokemon following you. Heck, all 5 gen IV games had elite four rematch available and good postgame. I like the Gen VI gameplay, but something about it almost seems too good, and with how zoomed in it is it would probably work better on a larger screen. It also seems really rushed now. Not bad, but not great, I would put it after IV and III for sure at least.

Gen VI is not my favourite (that honour goes to Gen II for nostalgia and Gen V for novelty), but I will admit that ORAS is my favourite pair of remakes by far (HGSS were fun, but for me personally, the charm of the originals is missing). I'm looking forward to picking up a copy of Omega Ruby so I can enjoy the story once again...and so I can have my favourite fully-evolved Hoenn starter, Swampert.

I intend to get Y at some point, however. I'd still like to have Chespin as a starter, but I'd rather not restart my copy of X in order to do so. All that effort raising my now-15 party members would be wasted.

Nah. I like Gen IV and V better. That's not to say that I don't appreciate the polish the games have, both in mechanics and graphics. But making things faster, sharper, and prettier just isn't enough.

Gen II for the sake of picking one out for it's entirety. I love Johto, and GSC Johto is my favourite.

It was like the awkward, yet really good phase of Pokémon, 'cause it didn't know if it was coming or going.

Before ORAS was released I would of said Gen III, but I wouldn't go back to it now, my heart lies with Johto.

Gen VI; brought some awesome new features, amie, super training, but overall I'm ready to move to Gen VII. With all those tired arguments droning on and on about Zygarde, (which by the way is no one's fault for wanting Z, it's just people have opinions and so they should), I just want to start fresh and see all these exciting new Pokémon coming!

Yes, I consider Gen VI to be my n1 favourite generation, because it contains my n1 favourite game: the long awaited Hoenn remakes. It took my favourite games and region (Emerald and Hoenn) and made them even better, remaking them fantastically well. That's enough for me to consider Gen VI my n1 favourite generation.

Also in terms of mechanics though: Mega Evolutions must be one of the best improvements of the series: what a fantastic way for making past Pokemon relevant again! Not to mention the fantastic graphics and quality improving mechanisms like ST and easier breeding.

But if we take in account the entire generations, and not just the best game of each, I would say Gen III and V are my favourites.

Gen VI is definitely the best for me, right up there with Gen IV, even including Kalos, in fact I must be one of the few who likes XY more than ORAS, even though that itself was a pretty awesome remake. The new mechanics, from the newly introduced Mega Evolution (which brought new life to older Pokemon that were once easy to overlook, and in some cases a bit too well - looking at you Kangaskhan and Mawile) to making breeding less of a chore thanks to the improved Destiny Knot and making it easier to pass specific abilities (also the ability to pass the Ball from the parent to the offspring is a nice touch), and the new customization that brought a new sense of individuality, I liked every new feature (shame that it'll probably be exclusive to kalos). I was a bit skeptical at first of 3D Pokemon, but now I'm just loving it, though I do not like some of the new cries.

Honestly, I liked a lot of what Gen VI brought to the table but it isn't my favorite Gen overall. The breeding mechanics, the introduction of Megas, the tightened Masuda Method, the 3D models were all great but the story in X and Y kind of lacked. ORAS was better in that regard so that helps. But overall, I'd have to say my favorite Gen is V. With Gen VI, I'm stuck wondering what might have been if we had gotten a third Kalos game and that makes me more than a little sad.

And I really wanted giant mecha Zygarde on my team. I'm holding out hope that it might happen in Sun and Moon.

Is Gen VI my favorite? No, Gen IV and II are forever cemented in my brain as my favorites. Pokemon Crystal felt like it was the cap on a wonderful journey that began when I first booted up Pokemon Blue. Not with out it's flaws though, after my copy of Silver decided that deleting my ENTIRE pokédex worth of work, I started drifting away from the franchise. My interest was finally severed in 2003 when I found out the new games were going to still have a battery, and at that time I wanted nothing to do with something that would run out of juice. A new wife didn't help things much

Fast forward to the summer 2013 and I'm looking for a handheld video game to pass the time. I swing by a local video game store and low and behold, there is a copy of Pokémon Pearl sitting there on the shelf. Boom. I'm sucked back in again. I can't help myself. I'm hunting for a whole new buncha critters and loving every minute of it. Pearl feels solid and complete and I later score a copy of Heart Gold and I'm awash in a wave of nostalgia and I don't even want to escape. I quickly plunge 450+ hours into the game and it feels complete to me. Abilities, EV's & IV's are all new mechanics to me and they are easy to understand and use. Story, graphics, extras and mechanics all combine into the game I never realized that I wanted so many years ago when I was in High School.

But, that isn't the end of this story. With Gen V on its way out and the Gen VI hype train going full tilt I decide to get a 3DS and see what X&Y will bring. I pick up the games and I honestly enjoy what I'm playing. The game does feel short when compared to HG, but not terrible. The game reminds me of Blue, a beginning. There is potential, and it feels unrealized. ORAS comes out and I'm not too thrilled with them, but I'll play through for the challenge. I keep going back to X & Y however as I enjoy playing them more. I just feels like X & Y are the start of something new and ORAS just feels a little more like the ending of something else. I'll admit to being excited at the possibility of a Z version to help realize the full potential of X & Y like Crystal started and Heart Gold and Soul Silver did for me in years past. Perhaps the lack of a Z is going to be a good thing for us. What if X & Y were the new beginning and Sun & Moon are the polish, much in the way that Gold and Silver polished up Red/(Green)/Blue/Yellow. Who knows, all we can do is wait and see.

So, to summarize the TL;DR. Gen IV is my favorite, Gen II is next. Gen VI brings up a very close 3rd.

I love it for the technical advancements and aesthetics, but the way that they've reduced the offline content is a bother.
