Is my understanding regarding Special/Physical split correct?

If I am not going to memorize or gone through all the skills, is it safe to assume all projectile skills are Special?

No, there are several projectile-based moves that are Physical moves. Some examples include, Bonemerang, Bullet Seed, and Egg Bomb.

In that case, how do I differentiate them? If I can't memory all the moves?

From your reply, can I get it like this, projectile moves without physical form are all Special?

You can just check a move in the Pokemon's summary whenever you're not sure.

At first it may be hard to tell, but after a while it's obvious. The only move I can think of with questionable Physical status is Sacred Fire and even then it's because Ho-Oh is Physical based.
