From what I've heard, it apparently is, but I never see any Japanese fanart or anything for the series.

It doesn't seem to be talked about that much nor does it seem like CoroCoro gives it much limelight, so how are we so sure that it's the most popular? If it is, then why does no one bother doing anything for it?

yeah there is like no way at all the pocket monsters would be that popular, it never even made it to an english speaking country (besides singapore)

Yea.. I doubt this as well.. The manga ain't really that famous..

I think he means the series "Pocket Monsters" among other Pokemon Manga, not the Popularity of Pokemon Manga itself.

I assume you're talking about Anakubo's Pocket Monsters series with Red and Pippi, right?

Probably not the most popular, but it *is* the longest-running.

Also, it's the only one of the manga series to show up in the TV series.

Yup.

Yeah, I know it started before the anime and was the first manga, which makes it the longest. I normally see people stretch it and say it's the most popular, but if that was the case, wouldn't we see advertised more and released outside of Singapore and Japan? (Didn't Singapore stop at the RS series?)

Maybe it's a case of AmericansHateTingle, but I don't see it get that much love in the Japanese fandom.

Although I've already known about its appearance in the TV series, I could see why people think it's the most popular.

Not necessarily. Every single person in Japan knows about Sazae-san, for example, but it's practically unheard of outside the country. Same with Doraemon.

I'm not saying that Anakubo's manga is anywhere near that level, of course; I'm merely stating that popularity abroad is not a good indication of popularity at home.

My mistake, I read wrong. Sorry about that. I blame my lack of sleep from too much studying.

Honestly, I don't own at least a SINGLE volume of this manga. But, I read some summaries, ONE-Panel scans and such....

I ADORE P.M ! Art doesn't matter but It's really funny since it's like the ol' Toriyama's DragonBall. My favorite character is Red & Clefiary ( WTF?! )

And yes, it's kind of sad this manga doesn't get much attention...I did read from Dogasu's site that it's one of the most popular POKEMON MANGA!!

Hahaha, I also drew the manga's characters on Paint XDDD

I own a ton:

Absolutely hilarious series, and my favorite Pokemon manga. It's a real shame it never gets much attention.

Oh! Then Bulbapedia may be interested in speaking with you. I scanned a bunch of stuff for it lately, but mine are in Japanese so I can't understand them. You'd be able to give actual summaries and information rather than just pictures.

I also own all 14 volumes of Pocket Monsters. While not my favourite manga I like the fact that it shows much game material (the early volumes, at least).

I also own Pokemon RS (all volumes except 2). And I say that since Volume 3 Anakubo practically pisses on the games. There's little to no game adaptation in it (in Volume 3 we see FRLG-Red and FRLG-Blue [girl]).

I own two first Volumes of Pokemon DP. Not much game material.

But I've been always too lazy to put the information on Bulbapedia (I've made some contributions like listing Isamu-Red's Pokemon or mentioning FRLG-Red and FRLG-Blue appearing in RS. I'm considering expanding the Gym Leader articles with Pocket Monsters section during the Xmas Break.

And also, don't expect any scans from me.

The Pokémon manga is actually relatively... not disliked or unknown, but isn't read by many.
The most popular Manga currently (well-known and most read) is ether Naruto or Bleach.

^I'm talking about the most of popular of Pokemon manga, not manga in general.

@Adamant: That's cool, you own so many volumes! Any word that Pocket Monsters DP has been translated by Chuang Yi?

Grimsg told me the Pocket Monsters series didn't sell very well in Singapore, so I wouldn't bet on it.

As for any information, summaries and pictures, I might work on something when I get time, but in that case it will be done for Pocketmonsters.net, not Bulbapedia.

I made a preview for the series here, however, that should tide you over for now.

What sort of interaction do the two Red have? Are the boy and girl really called Red and Blue like the previous characters?

Isamu Akai is only nicknamed "Red", so there's only one Red and Red is a clone of Isamu anyway. There is an original character named Blue, but he only appears in the original series. (I think, someone correct me if mistaken.)

I think the mangaka did that because technically the original's names in Japanese differ from the remakes since the games prior to Crystal used the Japanese word for the color/metal rather than the english word. For example, the original Red is called Aka/赤, hence Akai, while "レッド" in FR's title is just "Reddo".
