So I recently just replayed Pokemon Diamond and after you beat Cynthia, Professor Rowan appears talking about how he previously has been inside the Hall of Fame when Cynthia was crowned Champion. But as stated in both RSE and their remakes, when Steven is defeated by the player character, May/Brendan and Professor Birch arrive in the Champion's room. May/Brendan wants to enter the Hall of Fame with the player but Steven explicitly says only those who are champions may enter. This lead me to believe that Professor Rowan may be a Champion, if the same rules apply to the other regions, as Prof. Rowan enters the Hall of Fame with the player and Cynthia after you defeat Cynthia. What do you guys think?

Well, as the reasons stated above, I have no evidence to believe he's not a champion. I personally think it's weird that OAK was a champion, like, weird!

According to Agatha, Professor Oak was a "very good trainer" in his youth. Perhaps that would refer to him possibly being the champion.

However, it could also just be a rule in Hoenn and no where else.

I've thought about that ever since that first time I beat the game. Nobody has been allowed to come in with you till then I'm like, what? He's def a champion.

Had to bring this old thread back up because wow, I didn't think anything about it. I never really thought about how the other professors/other various people in the games couldn't go into the Hall of Fame, but yet Professor Rowan just goes right in. Now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense. Wow. I love it. Even if it's not canon, it's a headcanon to me!

It's possible. However, I also viewed the Championship kind of like a driving license. Have you ever noticed how many trainers there are in areas that are blocked off to you until you're a champion?
