Some trainers have Pokemon they just have to have in their party. For me, Electivire is that Pokemon...

Volkner says this at the end of every battle you have with him in the BattleGround...

In my signature, I replaced 'Electivire' with 'Milotic.'

Can you answer his statement; what Pokemon must you have in your party always?

Combusken is my personal favourite, and I always had one when playing through the 3rd generation games, refusing to evolve it to it's final stage. But it's the only example I can think of. There are many pokemon I'm fond of, and as such I prefer to use as many as I possibly can. With the constant growth of the 'dex, there's not much room for a staple team member these days.

In answer to the poll, I generally go with pokemon I personally find interesting or creative, be it terms of visuals or in concept. I usually end up training a lot of obscure or unusual ones as a result. Probopass, Ludicolo, Vespiquen etc.

If I don't catch a Ralts at the beginning of a Gen 3 game or in Platinum I just don't feel right about it. I can breeze through a Gen 3 game with only Gardevoir and my starter and my team will feel fuller than a full team without it. Oh, many a Diamond game I didn't want to complete until someone would trade me a Ralts...I'm a lost cause indeed.

There's also my regional HM slave (Raticate, Furret, Linoone, Bibarel), which must be there so HMs don't consume my team but that's not really over an emotional connection.

I used to always have PIKACHU on my team, simply cause it was my favorite Pokémon. I didn't even like to EVOLVE it! I probably wouldn't care now though (Pikachu's still my favorite Pokémon, but I probably wouldn't mind evolving it into a Raichu now...Raichu is cool, and, still quite cute, as well. :3 I don't think I ever disliked him, I just loved Pikachu too much x3)

Nowdays, I feel too emotionally attached to Piplup. Ever since I evolved my Piplup on my Pearl game, I just haven't really wanted to get farther AT ALL...and reading that it's concidered too 'ugly' for Pokémon Contests in the anime doesn't help. x_X; Maybe I am too niave, I know...

Overall, i've been concidering whether or not to restart my Pearl file cause of it all. I want to at least TRY to get the 5th badge, first, though...

And for now, i'm just happy I can get a Piplup BACK whenever I start a new game without saving. ;.; I know it isn't the same, but, it still make's me happy in the end...

I wish you could just save normally when you started new games in Diamond in Pearl, seriusly. :/ I would have LOVED to just save over my OLD file, right there, right NOW, when I did a new one without saving...even WITH the goofy names. How come they had to add that feture when I don't even LIKE Diamond and Pearl much as it is (i don't even know WHY...I just don't...)? X_x;; Of course, this is MY problum, not anyone elses...but...yeah....

Probably most people just got too annoyed by saving over their files by accident....but maybe there should be a way to delete the old file when your in-game on a new file or something? Maybe they outta think about that one...

Meh...maybe I should just stop playing Pokémon IN GENNERAL for awile, i'm taking it too seriusly. I'll just watch the anime....

(also, it's funny: I find my former 'least favorite' Pokémon, GENGAR, kinda cute now 0.o It remind's me of a Kirby charictor a little lol x3 aww haha. soo it's not like I NEED to follow what the creators say about Piplup's evolutions...it's not like anyone else here seem's to mind using Empoleon at all o.0 i'm soo behind the times...to think, I used to be a kid with a badass Blazikan haha yeah...nothing like that now. o.o;; pah...)

I've always liked Pikachu, too. But, I have told myself I will never train a Pikachu that does not know Volt Tackle, and to this day, I still search for a Light Ball.......

Ahh...I don't really care if I have Volt Tackle or not. XD Personally, I rather use Thunderbolt, since it doesn't have recoil damage and all...that's me, though. Volt Tackle IS stronger, it just has that weee little price to pay. lol

Maybe Pikachu holding some accriacy rasing item+Thunder attack would be an intresting idea...although it may still miss a lot, I doubt you could make Thunder 100% accriate lol But maybe it could go up to around 95%...and that may be intresting to test out sometime.

I think it's really cool how Pika can learn Grass Knot now in D/P. :D Simply because, now it can take on those big, pesky Rock/Ground types all the more easly (afterall, it's not like their likely to attack with Earthquake RIGHT BEFORE you get the CHANCE to strike at them, you know? and, Grass Knot+the Light Ball...it's all good)! Making an even BETTER Battle Tower choice.

Ahh..The creators really do love this mouse...lol:7up:

Yeah, gonna have to agree with you there!

I love to Meowth, or any kitty Pokemon on my team. I have a hard time when an opponent has one, too. I just don't want to hurt it!

Well, I judge on lots of things: my just plain wanting to raise one (ie. Buneary line), coolness factor (ie. Riolu line), sentimental value (ie. Ralts line), and beauty (ie. Feebas line)! I have actually raised all of these except one; I raised a Ralts/Kilia/Gardevoir in Sapphire, a Buneary/Lopunny, Riolu/Lucario, and Ralts/Kirlia/Gallade in Platinum, and I guess I waiting for a sign to raise a Feebas/Milotic. I know, that sounds really weird.

Every starter pokemon I get always seems to be the syrongest, the most used... just my favorite. I rarley take them out of my party. But sometimes, I seem to "stick' to other pokemon...

For me is both stats and moves, if a pokemon had high stats but could have a good movepool, it would not be worth the stats it has. Up until this time, my starter pokemon has always been my strongest, but when I got platinum, my starraptor is now lv 70, but my torterra is lv60.

I have like a pokemon I train loads in each game... LeafGreen had Butterfree, which I totally love. Emerald had Dustox, which I also love.

My HM slave was Bibarel, though I trained it loads. And my Empoleon is lv.79, which is my highest trained pokemon.

Appearance/If I like them plays a huge part on deciding who is on my team.

"True trainers try to win with their favourites"

Can't remember who said it but it definetly applies for me. Pokemon that I always have are; Dewgong, Torkoal, Poliwrath, Charizard, Blaziken, Xatu, Ampharos, Mamoswine (previously Piloswine) and Vileplume.

My game wouldn't feel complete if I didn't have them.

My 2 top favourite Pokémon are from the 3rd Gen, which is the design-wise most interesting generation AND the gen that truly got me excited about Pokémon again.
Whoever knows me a little bit will know for sure what my favourite is:

Whiscash

It really is just a simple Namazun adaption, but for some reason I am really fond of it since it became my main watertype in Sapphire. It is now in my Pearl team and the Pokémon with the most ribbons, winning the Hoenn AND Sinnoh Tough-Contests as well as several other ribbons...it is just so dopey looking and...aww...
It got one of the most awesome anime episodes ever as well...

My second favourite is Medicham. Just an awesome Pokémon, can be used in serious battles ( Poor Whiscash is a bit...under the radar in this category), has a neat design and interesting typing. Its Anime portrayals were cool as well.

The Teddi-line is great as well, but mainly for reasons beyond Pokémon to be honest.

I got a Charmander and a Squirtle in a trade and got so attached to them in Pearl that I didn't store them away until after they both evolved into Blastoise and Charizard (They also evolved into their final stages at the same time)
