I couldn't find any information about this, is there a recommended size for a profile banner, in pixels or file size? I want to know about this before I start thinking of one to use, so I can make sure it's not too big or too small.
 
It depends on the theme and whether the sidebar is toggled on or off! That's why I prefer patterns, it's easier to get them to look good at many sizes. I'd recommend around 1316x250 for enabled sidebars and 1616x250 for disabled sidebars (since disabling the sidebar means the pages, including profile banners, are wider).

Thanks, I tried 1316 x 250 and it seems like that works really well. :)
